Just went shelling yesterday here at Navarre Beach. My mom found 2 thumb sized queens helmets in amazing condition, and the biggest lightning whelk we found yet, probably 5” I’d need to measure it. The rest of the finds were lots lots of big olives as well as smaller lightning whelks. We wrestled with the surf the whole day since all the shells were where the waves were breaking, no rack lines on the beach at all. We’re planning on getting a sand flea rake and going today.
@@BeachBumminDad we went again yesterday, and today. For some reason the shells right on the break line have been great these past few days, maybe it has to do with the tide only moving less than a foot from high to low. Today’s haul was good, 3 of us got banded tulips in great condition, in varying sizes though, a lightning whelk collector’s dream too.

Love the oranges, but my favorites are the black shells. I live in Virginia and the beaches around here don't have many shells.
What is the spiney murex's name?
