    There is a lot to love about the new controls. They have great potential. But there are also some areas of concern.
    In your video I saw the Checkbox control and the Radio button control do not have any OnSelect property. Only OnChange 😮
    This means when we Reset the control it will trigger the logic in OnChange 😢
    Hopefully, the controls will release into General Availability with OnSelect. But in their current state it will confuse new makers. 😐

    The info icon is a good addition, I've used the icon with tooltip text before, but that doesn't work on mobile.
    Many of others seem to be simplification to some of the crazier work around for loading spinners etc!

    • @ShanesCows

      Agree, it is a nice start. By the way if you want to do info icon today I did a video where I had both the tooltip and a popup if you clicked it. Made a better experience for Mobile. th-cam.com/video/1tJk7LxgocA/w-d-xo.html

    My impression of the badge control is that it is supposed to be a small indicator next to an icon or label, much like the number of unread emails indicator on your mobile device app icon. In that use, it makes sense to not necessarily be treated like a button, though missing OnSelect properties seems like an oversight across all of these controls that I expect corrected soon.

    • @MsSianClarke
      @MsSianClarke ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is my impression too - I have an app with offline functionality and wanted to track the number of files waiting to upload when back online. I DIY’ed this with a circle icon under a text box that showed an updating value, both on an icon with an onselect function to take the user to view those records. Hope the updates to the modern controls have more customisation soon!

    One problem I've always had with power apps was despite having regional setting turned on to European format, while in edit mode the date displayed correctly as "dd/mm/yyyy" however when the app is published it displays in US format "mm/dd/yyyy". This meant we always has to remember to format all our date fields. Losing that ability is a non runner. Thanks Shane for reviewing these previews as it as saves us hours figuring out all the current downsides

      Yep - this is a bummer. And recently it looks like the option to enable classic controls (which had the date format option) has been removed and the release controls (also missing date format option) have been now relegated to classic. Not sure what the thinking was here. I realize that there will be improvements over time, but removing the only date picker with the date format option???? I really hated the old date picker - it was very confusing for users, but not sure what I can do now ... I'm going to have slap a label over the top of every date picker. Ugh!

    Thanks Shane, very informative as usual and always looks like it is well rehearsed. 3 items I will be using in my service report App are progress bar, below 50% it shows red, above 50% shows green, pity there was no yellow or in between colour. Badges are good for a gallery where I have questions and use them as question numbers displayed in the badge, questions answered will have a green badge, questions not answered red. Finally the date picker, always great to have less clicks.

I tried to put all of my columns in one list and I reached my limit of columns in SharePoint. Any ideas or tips on how to get all the data in one form in PowerApps but not run into the boundary issues within SharePoint Lists? I don't mind making multiple lists, but Lookup isn't displaying the information in PowerApps that I need. Hopefully this is making sense and you can help! Appreciate all you do!!

    Hi Shane, thanks for the straightforward presentation! I think the direction they are taking is fine. However, config options for many of the controls are poor with respect to functions and styling as well. Datepicker for instance has the same appearance as the corresponding control provided by Creator Kit's code components but is lacking many options already available in the CK datepicker - like First Day of Week, Min Date just to name a few. Don't really understand the strategy behind coming up with rudimentary versions of controls that have already proven successful in a more elaborated version in the Creator Kit context. (?)

    Nice1 Shane! These are almost pretty useless at this point but thanks for sharing, as always very much appreciated. I wanted to look at the "Badge" control to see if the "OnChange" property is related to when the Text changes. So in your example, if we have some other control changing the "Hi mom!" Text into "Hi dad!", for example. However, this new control is not available to me. I also don't see the new "Radio Group" or "Date Picker" controls. Hmmm....

    Sean, if these modern controls are not better or have more options they are pointless. There are already tons of issues with the current set of controls and Microsoft should fix those issues before introducing another step backwards
