Cash really is underated, most people always talk about the beatles or elvis, not that they are bad, in fact I love them both, i'm just saying Cash deserves more credit than he gets.
I think Cash has gotten his credit, but I hear what you're saying. Elvis was a blend of blues, rock, and rock-a-billy. The Beatles were influenced by Elvis and Buddy Holly but came into their own sound. Johnny Cash was just, Johnny Cash. He was his own genre, and the previous mentioned '50's guys got their rock-a-billy sound from him. He should get more credit in those conversations about the origins of rock and roll for sure. I guess most people consider him country so he's left out of that conversation too often.
