Agreed pay your people. How uncomfortable is it to go to your boss and say I’m undervalued. It’s Howard’s Show and he consistently underpays his people. Aside from Robin, Fred, and Gary no one is getting paid what they deserve.
Robin says, "Why is John upset about stuff that happened 5 years ago?" And Howard agrees because he never complains about stuff that happened to him in the past.
The money only went one way on that show, up to Howard. If he paid John a decent salary, he would have never left. Looking back at the last 30 years you can really see what kind of friend/boss Howard was to most of his staff.
Stern claimed he wasn't involved in what people get paid, then admits he does, and a lot of folks were badly underpaid. Stern was always a bit of a weasel.
He didn’t have a small amount of time for John in private, but he definitely had hours and hours of time for all of this on the show. Like I said, I’ll never defend the stuttering dope, but this really speaks to Howard’s character and how he viewed some of the staff.
Me too Howard always felt no one could make it without him. Jackie, Billy, John and Artie are great examples. Howard got rich off of them especially Jackie and Billy.
@@DqalexHoward was right about guys not doing anything with their career after they left him. There's a couple examples, but overall if you leave the show you're quickly forgotten.

Yep. Crickets about Billy west , but mentions and rips Jackie mercilessly. I had heard Billy west was furious about their bringing jon kricfalusi (his old Ren and Stimpy buddy) in as a surprise and it wasn't long after that. They were lucky to have him and stern blew that one, underappreciated and consequently underestimated him
That's for damn sure. We know that despite how SJ did things, Howard is telling us a lot of bs. He would've killed the deal if he could. He likes knowing his underpaid staff depends on him. He got Sal and Richard for the price of one.
I wouldn't call it his end at all. He left willingly and his life is prob awesome like most ex Stern Show employees. 1:52:30 I like how Jason thought he was friends with Stuttering John, just like he thought he was good friends with richard, just like he thought he was good friends with will. He is a really bad judge of who his friends are
John was like the Van wilder of the Stern show. Howard was upfront with him that it was intended to be a job role that you left and moved on from but John desperately clung to it because he loved the fame and the potential money he could generate on the side. He stayed too long
Leon’s staff thought that John wrote the questions he asked. They were unaware that he was a glorified, overpaid, part time phone operator. He hadn’t changed in 30+ years and squandered all of his opportunities. He sits in a 500sq ft apt drinking all day
Howard mentioning Billy west in the group of Jackie and John complaining about him/talking shit is laughable. Billy West was a true talent and had a career without the show. They probably didn’t wanna pay the guy a decent salary so he went on to different ventures. Can you blame him? Howard hated others success. Jay was very pc and family friendly but you know what.. he did take care of his crew. Much more honorable even tho he may have been a phony. They’re all fake anyway.
John is broke and lives in a place owned by his mom. He sleeps on a dirty mattress with no sheets and thinks he's the smartest, funniest person of all time. How do you not goof on that?
I thought that too but who does that? Putting all the risk on the person you're trying to convince. Obviously "myself/my parents/my kids", but I swear YOU will die if I'm lying to you! Very nice, John.
I'm not on John's side at all -- but Howard was pretty clearly spinning this thing since day one. We know (now, years later) that John accepted the Leno job months and months before telling Stern, that John "secretly" told Robin + Artie about it many weeks earlier, and, thus, Howard must have known about it a long time before this "publicly outraged" on-air facade. The day that John announced his departure on-air (which is pruned from this TH-cam video, probably for copyright reasons), Fred + Gary immediately piped in "Haven't you been house shopping in California for months, didn't you buy a house out there months ago" -- doesn't wash with the Ohh, we just learned cover story. (I also agree that, if put in a position to do so, Howard would have killed the Leno deal. Probably this is why he got so angry about it -- he knew it was gonna happen, but also knew that, due to months of foreknowledge, the way it went down prevented Stern from squashing it without looking like a petty tyrant.)
He didn't secretly tell Robin. John told her about an offer to be a correspondent, and she told him that Howard would never go for it but to talk to Howard about it anyway. John admits he is bringing up an old conversation and lying about telling Robin during his last show.
F John but they all handled it like babies. Howard screaming about his dignity and being personally insulted while Booey and Ralph kiss his ass "he should've come to you boff"
47:47 the reality is is that Billy West was unbelievably underpaid and screwed over in Howard later admitted that. Billy West is an unbelievable talent. So is Jackie. Stuttering John was a con artist who had absolutely no Talent whatsoever and no shame
Stuttering John was Howard’s kryptonite he got a gig on a biggest late night tv show at that time something Howard always wanted that’s why John was recurring theme on the show unlike Artie or other ex employees. We all can agree that John is a piece of shit but the guy should get an award for making Stern mental
And then later on Howard says you never came to me you should’ve come to me at least we could’ve done some thing and the whole first first half of this is John coming to him and trying to talk to him. Not that I like John at all. He is quite the mess these days.
John loved Howard, he deeply wanted to be his friend. Howard could not have given any less of shit; he saw right through John and knew what he was. He wanted to sponge off of Howard, creepily attempt to bond with him just so he could say "me and Howard are friends", and then try guilting Howard into some bs hustle. John has never changed, and has never been socially desirable.
The only crappy part about John leaving was Sal took his place. I can't stand Sal. Hes so abnoxious and not funny at all. Except when Howard yells at him. I stopped watching when Sal started on the show full-time. Richard was okay, but Sal was toooooo much.
Howard could have brought on Sal and Richard or guy like them anytime. Howard wanted to keep the majority of the money for himself while keeping guys like John, K.C., etc. working for cheap while using their lives for content while telling them they're not on-air personalities like he does with Sal, High-Pitch Mike, etc.

@@bigmoose99- No - he would have probably got fired eventually due to one of his schemes. The reason John left was money- he was never going to get more out of Tom & Howard was never going to fight to get him more money
Just remember without Jay Leno hiring John we would of never got the drunken buffoon we have today!!! 🎉🎉
Not true at KROCK. More true at Sirius
Ya think?!?
That's like saying Paul McCartney was a bit of a Beatle... or Trent Reznor was a bit of a nine inch nail
He didn’t have a small amount of time for John in private, but he definitely had hours and hours of time for all of this on the show. Like I said, I’ll never defend the stuttering dope, but this really speaks to Howard’s character and how he viewed some of the staff.
Love how burned Howard got by this
Me too Howard always felt no one could make it without him. Jackie, Billy, John and Artie are great examples. Howard got rich off of them especially Jackie and Billy.
Howard still had the last laugh though
@@DqalexHoward was right about guys not doing anything with their career after they left him. There's a couple examples, but overall if you leave the show you're quickly forgotten.
Hi John
@@topspot4834yes. Billy West is an exception
John was eating this up thinking BOY AM I GONNA HAVE THE LAST LAUGH WHEN I GO DOWN IN HISTORY LIKE Ed McMahon…. Little did he know this was just Jays way of “sticking it” to Howard…. But John STILL SOMEHOW ENDED UP doing NOTHING even after that great opportunity. 😂
I’m 43 and this was the beginning of the best Stern years in my opinion. A lot of nostalgia here.
Funny how Howard only got mad at John when he brought up that he didn’t pay his staff. For Howard to act like he was doing John a favor by paying him $10,000 a year in fucking New York city, is pure insanity.
It was 80k a year .
@@mrbill9248 Once he had spent years making next to nothing, he made 80k. Before then, as Howard says in this video, he paid John 10k. It's also funny how he claims to have nothing to do with salaries, but he clearly stated that he got John that 10k.
@@jmadude don't forget how John in his book said he became a millionaire before age 25 by 1991. John leached tons of meals , cabs, stock tips , free tickets and every bit of life he could suck outta you .
@@mrbill9248 Sure, but everyone else on the show did the same thing. Doesn't change the fact that Howard still doesn't pay his staff anything remotely close to what they need to live in New York.
then try this einstein...DO NOT TAKE THE JOB....jeez@@jmadude
This is something you won’t hear on O&A or R&F: There aren’t 10 people in the room all trying to talk over each other to say the funny line that Howie might like. It’s exhausting.
Hoo hoo
46:12 LMAO Ralph with the zinger on Robin's failed TV show
😂
Howard always hated when someone did well without him.
Exactly 💯 he will die screaming
Yep. Crickets about Billy west
, but mentions and rips Jackie mercilessly.
Maybe but whats that got to do with John? 🤣🤣
@@estherdoyle6408my favorite is how podcasts ruined him because Howard knows he's not talented enough to entertain anyone
Howard just wanted John to leave him alone off the air 😂
I don't blame him. John is a leech and a liar.
The beginning of John’s end.
I wouldn't call it his end at all. He left willingly and his life is prob awesome like most ex Stern Show employees. In fact I think he has a podcast...or he did as of like 5 years ago from what I remember.
All blame in any staffer is an illusion. Wiggy sees everything as "betrayal" because he's a narcissist.
@river_acheron Oh...you must not be familiar with the Dabbleverse.
@river_acheron If being a drunken failure of a father slob to the point of symptoms of alcohol induced dementia is awesome, then yeah his life is awesome.
Check out “Who are these podcast?” Try to start in like 2017-18 to see how John is doing.
@@user-up1us9jf1o SKOL!!!
I don't blame John for hiding this.
Howard would have absolutely sabotaged him. Or at least tried.
He put 2 weeks notice in and they treated him like crap for 2 weeks!!! Had he told them months before it happened they would have been mad anyway!!! He owed u nothing
11:19 Howard talking about going through a divorce and Gary about SJ…”not yet” You said it Gary!
You can't compare Stern to Leno. Stern is a go cart and Leno is a Corvette If you wanted to Keep John Jackie or Billy its simple PAY THEM
Exactly but we all can agree Billy is way off better without Stern.
Thats true. I miss Billy during the news. I listen to Billy West clips on Howard over and over. @redwolfe7049
1:52:30 I like how Jason thought he was friends with Stuttering John, just like he thought he was good friends with richard, just like he thought he was good friends with will. He is a really bad judge of who his friends are
So funny to hear all the wrap up show cronies rush to show Howard how mad they are at John too 😂
will was defending John
Gary was totally jealous. How many time could StuJo ask fir a meeting? StuJo 100% correct Howierd would have killed the deal by callinbg Jay.
Melendez was useless on stern and useless on leno. He dabbles in everything and mastered nothing. These are solely my opinions
He jumped the Shark after they took him off asking obnoxious questions to celebrities. Not sure why they stopped.
John was like the Van wilder of the Stern show. Howard was upfront with him that it was intended to be a job role that you left and moved on from but John desperately clung to it because he loved the fame and the potential money he could generate on the side. He stayed too long
@18:30 Howard: I don’t want to meet with you and Fred lugging in the background lol Fred must’ve really hated John
Gary LOVES to hear himself talk boy on that Wrap Up Show. Sheesh
Leon’s staff thought that John wrote the questions he asked. They were unaware that he was a glorified, overpaid, part time phone operator. He hadn’t changed in 30+ years and squandered all of his opportunities. He sits in a 500sq ft apt drinking all day
*Leno
Why don’t people know they can edit comments?
Howard mentioning Billy west in the group of Jackie and John complaining about him/talking shit is laughable. Billy West was a true talent and had a career without the show. They probably didn’t wanna pay the guy a decent salary so he went on to different ventures. Can you blame him? Howard hated others
success. Jay was very pc and family friendly but you know what.. he did take care of his crew. Much more honorable even tho he may have been a phony. They’re all fake anyway.
Howard was always a scumbag.
20 years ago and Shuli still could only contribute to broadcasting by trashing John. Some things never change
Yeah but he’s good at it
@@WillyTheComposerOfficial not on any level is he good at anything
Yup and now he’s podcasting himself bashing John. It’s full circle
John is broke and lives in a place owned by his mom. He sleeps on a dirty mattress with no sheets and thinks he's the smartest, funniest person of all time. How do you not goof on that?
@@cody1482 no problem with goofing on that. However when that is all you are successful at the draw is still John's stupidity, not your comedy.
LOL literally EVERYTHING Ralph said he hated John for applies to him ten fold. Talk about projecting 😂😂
when did howard first announce jon was leaving? it just skips that whole part, did john just leave with no mention of it??
He put in his 2 week notice once the deal was locked in. He worked for that 2 weeks.... it's out there somewhere I'm sure.
Did Howard edit out at 8:47John saying he swore on Howard’s life lol? Wow.
John is a child. He is a baby. That poor ex wife of his.
Ex wife
47:47 the reality is is that Billy West was unbelievably underpaid and screwed over in Howard later admitted that. Billy West is an unbelievable talent. So is Jackie. Stuttering John was a con artist who had absolutely no Talent whatsoever and no shame
Stuttering John was Howard’s kryptonite he got a gig on a biggest late night tv show at that time something Howard always wanted that’s why John was recurring theme on the show unlike Artie or other ex employees. We all can agree that John is a piece of shit but the guy should get an award for making Stern mental
Agreed.
And then later on Howard says you never came to me you should’ve come to me at least we could’ve done some thing and the whole first first half of this is John coming to him and trying to talk to him. Not that I like John at all. He is quite the mess these days.
Great upload
John loved Howard, he deeply wanted to be his friend. Howard could not have given any less of shit; he saw right through John and knew what he was. He wanted to sponge off of Howard, creepily attempt to bond with him just so he could say "me and Howard are friends", and then try guilting Howard into some bs hustle. John has never changed, and has never been socially desirable.
John was, and still is talentless … Carolla is a snake … And Sal and Richard are comedy gold.
When John was making big money on Leno, which low paid people did he give his money to? 1:26:10
His nanny
I just realized Howard’s Jackie impression sounds just like Herbert from Fsmily Guy
Fred, Artie & Gary doing the wrap up show. Now that’s a good wrap up show.
Adam trying to sound like an old hippie. Soo coool boss man. 😂
The only crappy part about John leaving was Sal took his place. I can't stand Sal. Hes so abnoxious and not funny at all. Except when Howard yells at him. I stopped watching when Sal started on the show full-time. Richard was okay, but Sal was toooooo much.
Sal's stupidity was funny to listen to sometimes, John is a fussy babbling baby boy.
Abnoxious? You a conqueror?
@@millennium4290lol. Good line
40:09 The perfect SJ summary.
And John today, wow, what a disaster of a human.
Robin’s story about John is excruciating.
24:50 - lol I had to do the same thing, I had to take an extra class to get my diploma and I also had to do like a mail in course and my poor mother paid some girl to do the homework for me and mailed it in because I was gone for days at a time at that point running around.
I did tie for the highest SAT score in my high school which made my mother cry at the wasted potential, I got it together later in life and I made it up to her. Jesus Christ…… Now that I think about it I have an Artie streak- self destructive but somehow successful and throws money at my family to make up for guilt…. thats not good
It brought me tears to hear how much pain JAWN was to deal with. Unbelievable
John's signature mug 🍺 😂
I hate the wrap-up show and the fact that I have to come back to this page every time to fast forward through it.
It's even worse when there are no time stamps so I have to fast forward 5mins at a time until finally that awful sound leaves my ears.
I like to leave on some Stern shit while doing other things but the wrap-up show interrupts.
Please NEVER include it in anything. If anything noteworthy happens on it it's addressed on the main show so it's pointless to include it.
Robin telling a story is excruciating
As always
Hey bro sry to bother but do you know anywhere I can watch the Captain Janks vs Steve Langford Saga? I finally opened my tab and saw the last upload got taken down the day I was gna watch smh
1:13:30
Howard (seriously): i want nothing to do with him
Robin: Well did you have anything to do with him? HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA
Proving again that she has NO IDEA what is actually funny, when people are being funny, or how funny timing works.
Where is the part he announces his new job
where is John now?
With huge credits like the Stern show and The Tonight Show you'd think John would still be something big today....but there he is doing a shitty podcast yelling at 2 other podcasts all day and begging for super chats for money he "doesn't need".....what a loossaah.
33:52 RIP ralph. thanks fod hating Stuttering John and being the on air voice of it. Artie kept defending him... *Ralph is right the whole segment*
John does not realize how lucky he got when he met Howard Stern what a schmuck🤔🤔🤔
I'm not a big Jay Leno guy, but I'd rather work for him than Howard. In fact, I'd rather work at McDonald's than work for Howard, and I mean that literally.
You sound like a bitter, former Howard Stern employee lol how would you rather work at McDonald’s then on the greatest radio show of all times at least it was when John was there
This is rich. Howard was nice to John? And Howard supported John’s career. When?
1:31:03 this is one of my favorite Stern blow ups ever
