Some of this makes me think that the Overall time-frame of Elden Ring is probably a lot shorter than it feels too. With all these burried, ancient civilizations everywhere, you'd assume 10's of thousands of years are passing by in between major events, but confirming that Messmer, Marika's betrayal, Radahn, Radagon, and the Crucible all having direct links to or through each other via their most relevant events makes it seem like The Erd Tree Grew in a Decade, and the shattering war ended a year before the Tarnished showed up. Then again, these are stories of Gods and Demigods that could possible live for hundreds or even thousands of years. And it's a battle over the very nature of the world, so who knows if things are entirely metaphysical, and time barely has meaning.
You have to also remember Michael Zaki's love for time fuckery, we should always expect a time-traveling fukery in Souls-like games or Fromsoftware in general.
I would highly recommend watching a video by the TH-camr Kitetales analyzing the potential of Messmer and Melina being children of the Gloam Eyed Queen.
Yeah, people saying Elden Ring 2 needs to happen, but there's really no story to tackle that wouldn't make it fast forward yet again like Dark Souls where it may as well be a new history but trickled with some of the first game's ramifications. But ER2 being a thing someday isn't impossible, I just don't think it'll exist because the first game left some questions unanswered. Not with the way Miyazaki likes to move on with the story.
I wonder if the tree Marika left behind in the village was her version of the crosses that Miquella left behind, and she actually discarded everything and left it in the village. The only real disappointment I have in this game is that, Radagon, the final boss of the entire game...is never given an explanation. There's lore in the game that implies he was planning something in secret, but ultimately it's never explained.
