Because when it comes out about the affair (and it will), it's going to destroy Paddy and Paddy is VERY popular not just with the Dingles but with the entire village so most people are going to end up on his side. Then add into that the fact that once it's out, the Dingles are going to realise that Chas was actually away with Al when Faith died AND it was because of her affair with Al that she was out in the storm in the first place, if she had been inside the pub where she should have been then Liv would be alive so that's going to destroy her relationships with the rest of the Dingles. I think it would be in perfectly ironic, anti-hero keeping with stories involving Cain for this to be a wrongful charge and for the truth to betray itself at the eleventh hour, leading to more ripple effects based on people jumping to conclusions and revealing true feelings towards each other. It seems like of late, rather than being a villain, Cain is more of the sometimes misjudged and misunderstood hero-wannabe, who has passionate convictions about right and wrong, is fiercely protective, can't always control or wisely channel his emotions, and whose past won't stop following him. That all sets him up to be the perfect character to be plausibly scapegoated, and be forced to take the rap for somebody else's misdemeanours - as he has done in the past. Also, the actor playing Cain doesn't sound like he WANTS to leave the show at this time, and is talking about the future of the character, so I can't see him being killed off or imprisoned for years and years any time soon.

She blamed him for making her uncontactable losing her precious time with Faith at the end, and she also blamed him for her ending up in hospital and thus Paddy having to go out during the storm leading indirectly to Liv's death. Chas will post Cain's bail in a bid to silence him permanently about the affair by placing him psychologically in her permanent debt. If she does this, that will make her puppet master now, no doubt with hundreds of ripple effects resulting. And even if she ended up being rumbled and charged as guilty, she could probably get a reduced sentence on a plea of diminished responsibility, given the level of trauma she could claim to have experienced in the form of Faith's and Liv's deaths, and given she has a young child who depends on her (although Paddy could probably end up with sole custody of Eve).
Chas, Al, and Cain are all adults. Technically it was none of Cain's business. I know Chas is his sister, but she knows what's she's doing. If Cain had approached anyone with his concerns, it should have been Chas. And I'm not saying cheating is right.
