Class act. Through and through. He's a very generous person, that goes without media attention. Proud he's in a Reds uniform, and I sincerely hope they can get him a ring. Nobody more deserving.
The Reds are an utterly inept organization from their clownish ownership group on down, sadly I don’t see him even winning the NL Central again let alone a World Series
I think what he did for that young fan in San Diego last year (following his early ejection the day before) was one of his greatest moments of his career. A testament to Joey Votto the man who happens to be an MLB star athlete.
@@zachhoward9099 Well, there's India, Mahle, Castillo, Stephenson, and possibly Greene, Lodolo, and Senzel (if he can remain healthy). More than one bright spot.
I've been watching baseball for nearly 60 years. This is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. There's so much to this. First and foremost the great Joey Votto but also the technology that allows this. I've gone from watching games on a tiny black and white TV with my Dad to this. God I love baseball....and technology.
If you don’t don’t Votto very well, he has one of the craziest stats. It took him til 2019(almost 7000 AB) to pop out to 1st base for the first time in his career.
Awesome. This mic'd up is great. Props to Votto. Focused, professional, insightful and fun. Great for all the fans. This is awesome for an Opening Day. Thank you!
Born and raised Cubs fan here. I hate playing against him but I love watching him play. I hope he stays healthy and has many more great seasons. Go Joey!
I wish mlb did this a lot more often. What the mlb needs is more inside coverage like this, the stuff you can’t get from anybody but the players themselves, while playing a game. It’s such a cool concept
@@stlcardinals380 I can see where it would be difficult to constantly talk to people while you are focusing on playing. Maybe do something like nascar and you can just listen while they play
This is easily my favorite TH-cam video I've watched this month, possibly this year. I love this interaction in live time, which is NOT easy. Votto is a legend!
That was special! Great stuff from Joey and the booth! I think MLB has hit on something with their interviews of players on the field ,in game.I love it!
I wish they would, but it'd be hard to find guys who could do it while on the field. Votto is suited for it since he's a veteran who is already great at talking to the media. It'd be hard to find younger guys who can play and have a decent conversation at the same time
Glad I got to see Joey play a couple of times at GABP. Gonna miss him when he retires and hope to see and hear him on future broadcasts. Great, fun dude
Joey Votto is one of the best players easily in the last 20 years of baseball, absolutely criminal that he is playing for such a poorly ran franchise like the Reds. Wish he could get a World Series ring with Cincinnati but I doubt they’ll even win their own Division again before he calls it quits
This is a flat out ball player. Loved watching him for years. This is the guy you want starting for you for 15 years and showing the leadership. Absolute class act. And this is from a Stros’ fan. Miss watching him from the old NL central days. Hope he considers managing when he’s done.
He's awesome and great for the game. Having these mic'd up interviews is incredible for the game getting to know the players better and letting them show their passion for the game will no doubt help grow the game.
This is absolutely the best thing MLB has done is a long time. Votto is such a fans player, love watching him play, and having the focus on him you can see the fundamentals that are missed on regular TV. Just wish he was playing for the Redsox!!!
As a "highlight on YT" follower of MLB, I just love this mic'd up vid. I'm guessing management of Votto may worry about him becoming distracted, but considering how experienced he is, apparently a non issue. MORE OF THIS PLEASE!
My favorite Red. Without a doubt a true class act. I couldn’t imagine Joey not being in a Reds uniform. He’s dedicated to this team & City. He’s a hard working guy who I think has plenty of more baseball left in the tank.
I’m Joey Votto and welcome to my TED talk. Lol. Seriously this is amazing!! He had some great words for everyone in life in general about adapting to change, etc.
Such a likable guys. Very intelligent. I like these miced up moments because it exposes layers of the player's personality that is not immediately evident to the fans.
This is amazing ! I’m a Braves fan, but love this segment how they interact and votto willingness to talk even during a competitive environment! Great stuff Joey !
I haven't watched much baseball and I'm from redsox nation up here in Maine but this guy seems super nice and I hope he keeps going and stays positive usually the news only talks bad about these guys so it's nice to see this side
I love the mic'd up conversations in general, but this turns into a gem with Votto. So underrated as a player and an absolute goldmine for content. More please!
This interview was fantastic Votto seemed to rlly enjoy it (which is something that you don’t see alot when players are mic’d up) and the broadcasters were asking good questions which is also something that rarely happens during these interviews. Plus Ozzie was on first for most of the interview and he has a great personality just like Votto.
Votto has been such a 1Fun Ride through the years here in REDS Country! He is a character and his passion to have fun and play the game is sometimes over looked when he gets into Game Mode! I still laugh at him being 38 years YOUNG and considering himself to be "Mid Life".....Cheers From COW-lumbus

He wont be winning one in Cincinnati that's for sure

Lol he will never get a ring in Cincinnati with the money hungry ownership

the premier lacrosse league started doing it in 2019-2020
innovative is the word I was looking for. Thank you! Couldn't agree more

Absolutely agree -- because he's an amazing commentator NOW, too!

He wants to drive a school bus or be a crossing guard. He’s said that at least three times. 😂
He definitely has a future in calling ball games.

I’m very surprised he said yes to this just because it’s an real game but this is so awesome respect
