"The friendly machine is the illusion of immortality. You see a reflection of yourself through a digital portal, a distorted identity inside the machine. The real world becomes merely a medium for you to feed and sustain the enfleshed form that holds your spirit, then you are back inside, plugged in and held in the arms of the digital landscape. Connection to the body becomes more alienated, and the soothing promise of a false utopia disintegrates your mental balance.
With split worlds and split bodies, the inferno of over stimulation makes it harder for you to
exist in this material plane. We plunge deeper inside this friendly machine and ask for more
poison. In exchange, we sacrifice balance, control and human touch. Deep enough inside the code, the
power cuts. The dream is shattered. And as the pixels die one by one, a black screen reflects back at you how alone you really are without a friendly machine." -Yeule on friendly machine

beautiful reaction. And I am so glad u expressed yourself in terms of feeling triggered/sick by the album. I remember when I first heard the album I had a similar feeling especially with friendly machine being so dark but I almost felt guilty about the sickly feeling, wanting to mother yeule as you say, make them feel ok. I think often queer people/femmes/feminist people actually are the ones that are most susceptible to being in toxic/abusive relationships because we feel we want to help/mother the other person. Their sickness become ours. Their pain becomes ours. This is why after multiple relistens to the album, bites on my neck is my favourite song. The portrayal of toxicity feels so real. My relationship with the album has completely changed, and while the initial triggering topics are still very much present, they offer me a portal into a world of deep empathic connection I feel to yeule now. They are a stranger yet some how I feel close. It has help me heal in a sense, and I now own the album on Vinyl so I can hopefully keep listening to it and changing my relationship with it, continuing to grow and feel and be alive. Sending love🤍

I think in a world where mental illnesses and the like are glamorized and totally misunderstood, people don’t know the reality of mental health issues. yeule managed to create art about uncomfortable topics that people would rather not hear about, and that’s why I appreciated the album. Their plight resonated with me. With that said I hope yeule doesn’t stay in the dark forever and I wish them all the happiness. They are so young and I’m so excited to see where their journey will lead. Thank you for the thoughtful reaction to her music!

yea most people with "mental" illnesses are just faking for attention and its all glamorized and quirky and cute to be a psycho now. weird. and now all these influencers are making it worse. basically the blind leading the blind.

"but i think it's very brave to say all these things in a world that people are so afraid to say anything" this is so true. We are so glad you doing okay now and yes, there will always be scars, but that's why we have people that are next to us, that makes us remember how valuable we are. Of course, it's harder when we are alone, but there's when we have to be stronger and give us the love we need, for we are all gold, we are beautiful. Sometimes I wanna smack myself and say "hey react, screw up past, you are finally being YOU after all this time, isn't that awesome?", and I kinda did so while watching your video. It was really nice to remember that. Thank you and take care

i love Yeule and this is your first video i've ever watched. i never watch music reviews/reactions but i immediately fell in love with yours. i didn't realize how lovely it feels to enjoy music with someone in a way? i very much enjoyed listening to you be into the music and appreciating it. i feel like for a lot of listeners, music is just noise. i love the energy of fellow listeners who feel music and recognize it as deep expressions and insane works of art.

I think some albums are like roller-coasters and some are just like a meal, one has thrills in every corner and the other is just something flavorful that you simply digest. This album, in my opinion, is more of a meal. It's bitter in some areas due to the very very heavy and dark topics that Yeule writes about, but overall it's an interesting experience. DBSHOYOB is 100% my favorite track, if I don't pay too much attention to the lyrics it makes a great comfort song lol. It was nice to see you dissect and observe the atmosphere and energy of this album, Fern!
Also, be sure to check out Homogenic by Bjork sometime! Not necessarily with a reaction, but on your own terms, it's a great album!

Danny L Harle produced a decent chunk of this album--his touch is most obvious on "Electric"--and he also was executive producer for Caroline Polachek's PANG, has collaborated with her on all her work since, and has also produced for Charli. so good call there.

I think , her strongest work she's released to date is a song called "Pixel Affection" from Serotonin II .... it's a very, very emotional song for me bc i am the same exact age as her, and have the same relatoinship with internet relationships & identifying as a sort of, digital entity and whatnot as a thing of nosalgia and identity

i’m not sure why but whenever i listen to it ever since the first time i feel very comfortable and understood. Maybe this is because I’m still in this mental state and i guess it’s just comforting that there are people like me out there and i’m not alone. Also their songs even made me stop sh a few times because instead of trying to get people to notice through thay i could just show them the songs, so they could try understand how i feel.

When I came across this album, Too Dead Inside was the only song I was sure I liked, however I didn't know my feelings regarding the other songs. Lately, I've been obsessed with it though, and possibly Bites On My Neck is ony of my favorites, alongside Friendly Machine. I like reactions as usually I listen to music because of the sound first, and the lyrics are something I really start reading into later on. While I don't relate to some of the topics on the album, I liked Friendly Machine as the lyrics kinda describe how I feel after being online for a long time, sometimes it might be trapping.

I think there are so many interesting , very comeplling ideas iin "My name is Nat Cmiel" and the lyrics are so song ( I like saying things that say everything i felt , in one go / genderless people / etc ) and this incredible intense, lovely vulnerability. The mix and the soudn of the like grrrrrnnnnding server failure sound at the end haha. I dunno, I don't feel she really keeps up with that momenum. They're definitely , a little all over the place vecause like on MANDY --- it's this reeally strong electronic song, that is cohesive...... and then she ends the album with this 5 hour ambient programming thing that soudns like a loading screen in Playstation , and it's just kind of supposed to fit with the rest of it. I STILL LOVE IT SO MUCH THOUFG OMfggg. LOVE YOUR REVIEWS , I wish i knew somoene like you IRL to discuss music with :)

I honestly flip flop between which I like better. Serotonin II is is really ethereal and ambient. Glitch princess is a lot more industrial/mechanical. The way I'd describe them is serotonin II is a fairy made of binary code and pixels, and GP is is like an AI surviving the apocalypse.
