Love Skyhooks, bought their first album back in 1976 & totally loved the sound ... I still love their music to this day. They seem to sound better & better every time I listen to them ... especially love the live stuff nowadays, like Live, Be In It ... love Shirls ad libbing on the song melodies, what a powerful voice!
i DON'T think many would have a bad word about shirl...he was a lovely man from the projection...The drummer here I found interesting..he was no Billy or Vinnie or Tony williams but he was a interesting player...he seemed relaxed i enjoyed watching him play,
Bob Spencer was a great replacement for Red, he gave the group a heavier edge and did some powerful lead work, check out his solo on Point In the Distance, amazing.
red got lost in a solo..he would start some nice runs and then drop into another octave and find he was dissonant to the lines he was playing and did not know how to resolve it....Just play rehearsed lines lad...`you are no Zappa.

Skyhooks vs Sherbet at Adelaide Memorial Drive was indeed competitive. Boys liked the Hooks ... Girls liked Sherbet. My girlfriend sat on my shoulders for Dazza. Luckily Skyhooks played last. A great night
first band that refrenced Australia and its cities and suburbs, they were on a another level,u want more crappy love songs go listen to to Mccartney, hes never written a song bout Melbourne so whats the point of him ?
I love the lyrics of Women in Uniform and Jukebox. The rhymes are brilliant. Thanks boys.
Legends. Great to see an old band where the members are still on good terms with each other.

True!
The Hooks changed the whole music scene in Australia. They were before their time....thank God for that. Good Job Boys.
What a great interview! :)
enjoyable... tks
Good times .... Even greater memories ......
Greg’s songs were so good. They were the great strength they could build upon. He must have done his homework. Zappa would have taken notice.
I think that is the concept of za[[a...injokes and local folklore.

they might have got publicity because of the appearance but they had songs to back it up and lasted.

Bob Spencer one Australia's most unrated muso's.
