Beating Normal Doom Tower was my goal on the free to play a few months ago when I first started making content on it! We are moving ever closer right now taking on boss 11 of 12 in this months cycle! Beating the Magma Dragon requires a solid provoke and Master Butcher came in clutch for me in this fight even at level 50 with no masteries!

That's what is hooking me to this game. It's not just about having the best champions. It's about putting together a team to do what you need it to do. I was learning Scarab Boss. I rebuilt my shield champion with speed, resistance, and hit points. He did the job I needed him to do and the team won.
Thats what hooked me too, well put. Combining kits to solve the puzzle of the encounter
Definitely making your own luck HH. Game knowledge has meant you’ve levelled people who work as a team. As a newbie I levelled four decrease def champs in my first six.
I'm pretty sure hailburn doesn't activate the HP Burns since they immediately get turned into heals. It looks like he's just doing his base damage.
Exactly. Ninja's escalation passive works if you just use his A1, A3 so turning off his A2 works on this boss.
This is probably the only boss Ninja doesn't do as well for. Would be cool to have someone like Peydma who can steal all buffs in a provoke set or someone like Kantra. Then you can benefit from the Heals Ninja places on him with the Hailburn.
Venomage is an underratted champ. That AOE heal reduction is really good against some HARD DT waves as well.
The burns aren't doing damage because there aren't any burns. The Magma Dragon can not receive burns because they instantly change to Continuous Heal. He is just taking damage from attack.
I mean, the game is RNG and luck is involved....but it just makes things either more/less challenging. Obviously nothing is impossible and I personally enjoy more of a challenge.
However, on that note: I've played the game twice as many days as HH, and I don't have the items to make a champ 300 speed (as HH does)
or the rares for fusing Rhazin (which he has).
Those circumstances are a bit silly, but that's the game for ya.

Yeah I’m in same boat. The speed gear and my speed rolls are extremely shitty. I can’t make high speed on my champs either.

Hey Hades, here’s a hot tip for you. You mentioned gnarlhorn places provoke, but his twin graybeard can provoke on his A1 at an amazing rate. Booked out, he can A1 provoke at a 70% rate. He also has an aoe freeze for waves (but it isn’t 100%).

Your have two things going on for you that some may think of as luck. One you have a feel for the different chanps and what they can do... ie experience in the game, and you understand the strategy to defeat the different areas of the game.
I admit to a little envy towards you because I seem to be slow at this, and very much appreciate the content you put out.

@Hell Hades, keep creating these wonderful contents, no need to be care of those rage. Everything is actually about understanding. If they learn from the great contents and understand more, they will use own champions and resources better and wouldn't throw those pointless arguments out.
So, finished DT normal today? I cleared 110 (and then did it on auto 5 times for the quest, i assume better rewards on higher levels on average? Wasn't great rewards tbh) so hopefully tomorrow I can finish DT for the first time
Really appreciate the work you're doing on the FTP account, it's given me a lot of tips on building my teams for Doom Tower and Clan Boss
HH has Venomage rated as a 1.5/5 for Magma Dragon so this is really a good demonstration on the value of comps and understanding the champs vs going with what everyone says is good.
Note - Not meant to knock the rating because they should be based on general vs specific builds/teams.

Hey HH! Regarding the intro about making your own luck. I'd say it's a bit of both. I basically started the game a week after you started this series and have been following along with your progress. I've mostly been able to keep up just by following your advice, but here's a few areas where I found your luck outpaced me:
1) Getting 300 speed on Apothecary (or getting him at all). I've been using High Khatun as my speed lead in arena and have plateaued at 274 speed for awhile now. I'm just not hitting the double speed rolls. This means I'm losing more arena speed battles.
2) The Champs you pulled were incredible for CB, and also, by your own opinion based on your own tier list, two of the absolute best all around epics in the game (Geo and Deacon). I was lucky in my own right with getting MM, who has helped me greatly in dungeons and DT waves, but I'm still only 3 keying NM CB and won't be moving up anytime soon.
That said, I don't think this invalidates the series in ANY way, as it has been a monumental help and I'd even go as far as to say I probably wouldn't have played raid for more than a week if it didn't exist.

"make your own luck" *managed to pull the best epic early (deacon), one of the best cb dmg champ (geo), and maybe the best standard comp ally attack champ (fahrakin), yeah, just make it happen guys, i dont mind it, and HH did played out his options really well, but just telling you, that yes luck was involved heavly, no matter how good you are in the game, when you have low tier options, you would be way behinde compared to where you are currently.
You have to use the Champs at hand, and push them to the max

@@booyafools5897 That's true but you are missing the point. The outcomes you can produce are always going to be within a range determined by luck. Within that predetermined range, how well you do is up to you. So Hell Hades range was way higher due to his champs than someone else's was. Within that range, he came close to maxing out his potential. It isn't a knock on him to say he had higher potential due to his characters because he still had to meet that potential. But he did have higher potential due to his lucky pulls. And he did meet that potential.
This game is all about luck... that "make your own luck" was bullshit. You need luck to get champions that can take provide a certain role,luck to get good gear and finally luck to get good rolls on said gear. Sure if you know enough about the game will make it easier but dont forget its a RNG based game.
Nice work! You should try Sentinel as well. One of the best A1 provokes in the game.
And yes - you're absolutely right - you use who you have.
Maybe I'm being generous, but I think the main reason people think you've been so lucky is that, becasue of your knowledge of the mechanics of the game, you've been able to pregress faster than most. This then means you've gained more shards, faster, than most F2P players who are understandably clueless as they're new to the game, which then means you've got more champs...

Master butcher is a beast. Mine's at level 20 , I tried him anyway, and what do you know , he pulled me through :O I'm speechless. My team ...Grush level 39 , master butcher level 20, Venomage level 50 , Ursala and Ninja both at 60. Wow ! 6 : 08 minutes and 110 level had been conquered
9:54 why do you heal first and then apply speed? Wouldn’t it be better to first accelerate everybody and then heal up the butcher before the boss takes turn?

Magma Dragon converts HP Burns to Continuous Heals. I made the mistake of taking Ninja in there my first time too.
Master Butcher finally being seen for what he is, a solid rare that has the ability to carry hard in quite some content, I always felt he was overlooked by all of the creators

some things that are luck are getting Counter, Ally Attack, or the ability to make unkillable are HUGE because the rewards for NM and UNM CB are a gigantic help, they allow you to get a few books/ancient+ shards a week. but getting a comp that can get those done consistently is difficult without those specific champs. pulling Apothecary and Cold heart are huge boosts also, even though they are rares.
Of course in a game like this there is luck involved. But game knowledge is extremely important as well, if not more. The recourses in this game are so scarce I and using it on the right pieces of gears and champions is key. It really shows by the amount of 5* pieces he has of perception. I myself can only farm epic material from FW on 5 factions. my account is about 100 days old as well.
I got so much resources stacked in my account and it really is a waste. I'm just not confident in which champions to invest them in. I have 25 5* chickens ready to go and no idea who to 6* lol. so when events come I just make more 5* chickens. lol

Players need to develop their intuition about champs. Content creators are a valuable resource, but they can also be a crutch.
It's all too easy to compare accounts and think "If only I had a Dutchess. . ."
Meanwhile there are workable solutions in the vault.

Agreed but there are so many variables, it's difficult to theory craft on so many different levels...and then rng. And we get 10 WHOLE ai control comps for all game content save PvP with no ability to toggle between horde/boss metrics or a way to prioritize a1.
@@sqranch2904 I get your point to an extent. The limitations of the programmable AI is an externality. I like to "plug and play" comps as well.
Recently pulled Souless (2 years of playing and my 2nd unique void lego) playing Knight Revs 21 on manual made see how much fun he is. I finally beat that difficult boss.
Many content creators aggregate strats from high tier stratetegists then share with the community at large.
Over the past few weeks there has been a wave of videos highlighting rares that are actually useful. It's a gamble, but fun to try a champ that is often overlooked. It could be your secret weapon.
I agree with you butttt the reason content creators are listened to is due to the cost and investment it takes to make a champion usable. If we could try a champ out at its max potential to see how they function prior to leveling,booking, ascending then sure. But it’s to costly to try and use a champ and them being a flop after investing in them.

Out of all the mistakes I made when starting Raid completely blind, I am so glad I saw Master Butcher as top-tier right away, and was surprised nobody talked about him once I started reading up/watching up on the game.
Well done, this is where I’m currently stuck.
Would love to see you pick some end point for this account, like all 3 normal Doom Tower rotations, or 3-key UNM, or a certain number of Faction Wars stars, give it away and do this exact series again in a post-Ninja world.
For the intro i would just add what Peter Dinklage said: "I hate that word - lucky. It cheapens a lot of hard work. - Youre using your brain and knowledge of the game instead of "luck"

Yeah master butcher has that nasty passive due to which he can revive people upon his death. I faced a team in the arena with two butchers, a reviver and a well built kael and damn that team was so difficult to overcome.
Similar to the heal reduction you can also use Block buffs against Magma dragon to use champs like Ninja with no worries. Uugo is my MVP there and helped me get my first hard DT boss kill.

I played this exact same team with Sentinel instead of Master Butcher :) Sentinel also provides Heal Reduction, but the provoke isn't as good as Butcher
You know how to play the game smartly and get the best out of your champs nothing wrong with that. Totally agree with you take auto off sometimes helped me huge in faction wars

Time to update the website and the All Rares Reviewed video from July. He appears to have been upgraded from "No Good". My favorite was the the comment about only being good for spatchcocking a chicken...lol.

For sure you were lucky af with Deac and apothekary so early in the game, plus ninja( all f2ps before ninja suffered a lot) , as i started the game i had months where i couldnt do shit because of lacking good champs, first legendary was after 1 year of playin. And for sure you needt to know how you get the best out of all your champs no doubt but that hell of a luck with some of your champs was crazy.

If you're persistent you can overcome bad luck. Like fusions and fragment events don't have much luck at all. Or saving your shards for a good 10x. Not to mention daily login champs and Ninja. The people that are complaining expect to get a full lineup of legendaries from every sacred shard or top tier epics, and that's just having unrealistic expectations.
Yeah lucky can make stuff easier, and of course there are thresholds for stuff. But being envious that people can do stuff you can't , is just stupid . I am 50 days in. Horrible luck with champs ., but still my maiden , kael, jareg , apothecary and ninja team is doing dragon 20 as long as I am in silver 4 in arena.
Wish we had a training or practice arena for champs. I’d love to try out some u see utilized epics or even rates to see if they’re worth investing in. But as of now, it’s to costly to try and invest in a champ to later find out it was a waste of time and resources.
Don't sleep on venomage either.(* As you mentioned) She made me able to get my first win on the epic lizard secret room with only 4 champs and 2 at lvl 50
All the stream comments saying Ninja's hp burn explosion doesn't work and HH not seeing them...I hope he saw it later
So far, I have played Doom Tower on auto, and have defeated all of the bosses up to floor 110. I am at the present time trying to defeat Magma Dragon on floor 110 on auto. I believe I can do it with the right combination of champions. Time will tell.

If you havent, get all the accessories from the clan shop. The ones with a damage shield on them mean the scarab wont ever aggro after you hit him. Then its just about turn meter control

Managed to get through this round with my CB team: Gravechill, FB, Apo, Raglin(or any cleanse healer) and rector drath.
Its ironic that I'm trying to level up food FOR a Gnarlhorn FOR Doom Tower for a different Reason!
I'm using him to deal with the Mortu Macaabs in the tower!

Oh silly me. I was running a team that all used burn and the dragon just wouldn't die. Switched them out and he went into the night no problem, actually with out burn on him he goes down pretty easy.
ive been getting massive drops lately, i actually have 6 pieces of gear from different sets all with triple speed rolls now but yet i only have 2 pairs of 6* speed boots not in speed set too -.- so my speed is capping around 280

it felt impossible to finish some factions in full auto, with the teams I use, but I'm making progress, all I had to do is wait. now that we know Shadownkin crypt is a few months away, I can relax and finish the rest later.
i think your real biggest luck is that you pull really early deackon venomage and geo and hard carry through every content
I have a rares only account and have cleared all the content HH has on his F2P, albeit it takes longer to do it's entirely possible. People get fixated on champions, gear and mechanics are the most important factors.

I mean...he IS THE Master Butcher! the name tells you a lot forget the size and the faction!
In fact I WOULD rate him even higher if he didn't have even BETTER members in his faction like Brogni and Geomancer!
Master butcher is a great rare. He has bad reviews, nobody talks about him, but he is solid!
Luck has a lot to do with faction wars.
Many of the factions I cannot beat is due to having no defence down or no revive.
This will force me to waste resources I don't have to build champs that are rubbish to either keep them alive or increase their dps.
I'm FTP, so swapping my best gear to these champs is way too expensive an option.
Pulling Godseeker even at level 40 with crap gear meant I could beat sacred order FW
"You make your own luck" pulls 12 sacreds on double rates and gets 1 leggo. Lol

That's not unlucky. You have a 12% chance per pull at double rates. 2x sacreds are not very good odds. Certainly better than non 2x, but considering how low the pity counter starts, I wouldn't really expect to get a lego. I mean, I'm now at 19 sacred pulls. That's why I think pulling to guarantee a fusion and pulling for a guaranteed champion are your best bets.

A lot of what they say is luck is the awesome gear you have don't matter about the team as much as the gear that you put on the people

This magma dragon - have to avoid HP burn because he turns them all to heals, so you do no damage from the burns.
with all the f2p series content creators come out is it really f2p when your in tier 2-6 clan?
Dude! Ninja doesn't do extra damage with those burns. It's all wiped! Use Kael instead!

Everybody has different lock in different areas of the chain I'm barely mid-game and I have an Arbiter setting at 260 speed I got lucky with some rolls if not for that she's probably be about 2:30

Talk about doing it yourself no auto. I took 105mins to beat final boss in DT because im low spend and had to manual the entire thing with only 1 damage dealer. But hey... I beat it
Plus I was busy with other things couldnt just sit and click. So it probably would have been closer to 45min maybe more to beat it straight through

The dwarf faction is so strong.
Talks about using the right abilities, use ninja on magma dragon lmao. The only good thing wit the heal reduction is using champs like brogni or geomancer. Sure ninja's raw dmg will stack over time, but its better to have a heal there and rely on warmaster procs.
Does anyone here like Master Butcher enough that they don't want to admit he's a rare...I'm in that camp..I mean I'd rather Master Butcher be a Epic or Legendary so I don't sound insane thinking of him like that...

you know the boss replaces HP Burns with cont heals and still use ninja and expecting his a2 to do damage, the big damage was from warmaster and not the hp burn. kinda disappointing considering you are here to teach people stuffs but not knowing some basic stuffs
