I say the same thing to myself ever winter. Talking about raising my coilovers or buying some winter tires and every winter I'm spinning my summer tires in 2 inches of snow because my lip has turned into a plow.
that's exactly what I thought when he said that haha only thing in my mind was just thrown some hot glue on that U pin and it will last about 3 or 4 years xD
@@amb1valentchaos625 I was like that with tires until one winter I thought itd be ok to drive to the mounrains because 'no snow in the forecast'......driving on a narrow road on the side of a mountain with no guardrail...in the middle of blizzard....gave me PTSD hahaha.

While i agree to be fair, alot of these projects are very labor intensive and having to film while doing it is hard.
He's just lucky he didn't run into any serious issues! My manual swap ended up taking a week because some lovely person at Nissan wanted to go home on time on Friday and pretty much fused the bolts into the block.
Took me a week to replace a clutch once... the psycho who'd replaced the clutch previously in my Accord daily driver used red threadlocker on EVERY FUCING FASTENER so I could only work until I broke all of my (Harbor Freight) tools and was done for the day because I could only borrow a vehicle in the early morning at the time to replace them... @@MajinTT

every job is really easy when you can ring up the parts company and say hey send all this stuff over to make everything factory finish.. most people dont have the hookup for that 10k in parts so they needa find everything at the junkyard or craigslist and fab the rest

Nice job Ron, but I'd flip those bolts on the cross member so you dont bugger up the threads in case you bottom the car, and can still get trans out. But eithers nice job.

Yeah I'd be a little worried about that too. Looks like it's the lowest point on the car, it's at risk of getting smacked. Do what you can to protect it.

One tiny thing I would do is shave the trans bracket. The plate for the mount isn't sitting flat on the bracket right now, which could cause vibration and early wear if it's tweaked over from bolting it down.
for trans mount since you have a jzx110 trans (not jzx100)
use a stock jzx110 mount and a gs400 cross member
tri pod is 90/100 not 110

ron, this was truly epic; thank you for packing it in to one episode. the 25 year rule shafts us while the rest of the world gets these gems. i want to import a euro e36 cause i love the chassis and the 316 ponies but i cant seem to find them for sale.
Those Euro E36's are almost IMPOSSIBLE to find, but they are still out there. Old cars are seriously the best, they are so easy to work on and parts are cheaper and more available than ever.

It took me way too long to realise it’s a RHD, it wasn’t until Ron was changing gears that I was like “wait a minute, how is he shifting as god intended and not all goofy like?”
Must be a trip to drive that in the states.

In case of swap, there's an old-old practice (at least, in our country) to cut manual tunnel of JZX90 and then put it to a cutted auto tunnel place of JZX90. I made swap (from auto to manual ) by that way. Didn't weld manual tunnel, just fastened it with a few screws and sealant. After then I found a plastic panel with a leather case for manual shift as it should be on MT Tourer V version. All looks good. Enjoy and take care of these cars, guys. There are not a lot of JZX90 cars left in Japan.

to remove crank seal, either use a screw, or the end of an allen key stuck in there held with some vice grips (90*). You can use that to pull/pry it out pretty easy. NICE JOB on that swap, sick

Did this with my former 240k GT Coupe . The auto box basically crapped itself and we had a 4 speed and associated stuff from the same model sedan (4 door), bolted straight up no problems. Kept the auto diff and it was fun, the auto diff being a different ratio to the diff in the 4 speed.
That track starting @10:45 has a whole bunch of Gundam sound effects in it! Kickass!
Ron, avoid the clutch switch. Its good way to find one of 1J's few inherent weaknesses - thrust bearings get chewed up on cold starts with anything beyond a stock pressure plate. Keep up the good work.

I did a 4 runner 5 speed swap was a straight up easy swap hardest part was finding console parts in good shape. Favorite part was tossing the automatic in the scrap pile

I say this because I hear the MK4 Supra fanboys bitching all the time about how incredibly hard it is to do a manual swap.... well, anyway. Ron, didn't you had to swap the ECU for the manual to work properly? Or is it something you're still to tackle in the next video? Love the show, man, eep up the good work.

Diff swap tip. Toyota 86 / BRZ LSD bolts right up into the JZX90. Easy.

My guy, flip those bolts on the trans mount so the threads wont get trashed up ;)
fun fact Ron, the push rod on the sc300 clutch master you used is wrong, while the clutch master cylinders between the two are the same, the rods are different lengths, the correct rod to us is toyota part number 31451-36040, or it can be found on a 95-04 Tacoma. but it seems your spacer works well enough

A lot of people like to consider it a "Camery" but unfortunately those are FWD and not RWD... We suggest finding an automatic JZX and swap it just like we did as it will save you alot of cash on the initial purchase.
Thanks man, it was a lot of work but I really wanted it in one video in case someone was thinking of doing the swap. There only LHD equivalent-ish would be an IS300 (they share the same front suspension) or a GS300. Both of those are RWD and 2jz powered.

There's one right up the road for 2k but it's gold inside and out and just too trashed up unfortunately..... For a couple years now actually I've been looking at info and videos on this particular swap. I've gotten asked to do this swap on a couple other models in the past but between this forum and that video all over the place, just never could find the concrete details to do them in the past.. Your tutorial solved all that!! Only thing, tho I know it was after hours and late, seeing what you where doing under the car was vague. Like you just needed a light bar or one of those hands free headlamps you wear to brighten thangs up! Just something I noticed as I'm sure you did as well. But for some, I.e. the folks who's hands you have to hold, would be completely lost lol... Anyway, think this is like maybe the 3rd time I've seen you do a full informative video and you do a very good job in explaining what your doing and the details along with a visual. A perfect fit for that instead of a paperclip would be a fuse from an older car. That will bridge the gap complete circuit and if there's a short with just blow fuse.

As long its under a decibel rating, and can pass smog it shouldn't be an issue. Vin's S14 with a 1J made 500HP and he drive the hell out of that thing on the streets.
