  • MIG-29 to the Edge of Space and gravitational Stress
    Unfortunately, the flights with the world legendary MIG-29 stopped in September 2017 after 11 years of flying our clients.
    A flight with the MIG-29 "Fulcrum" to the edge of space is a spectacular and very emotional experience. Depending on weather conditions and a total weight of the plane the flight will take you to altitudes between 56,000 and 72,000 feet. These are the capabilities. The height what you can reach on your flight day depends on the weather conditions of the flight day. (Temperature levels below the stratosphere).
    If you want to see the flight in total out of the view of the backseater and will listen to the communication, have a look here: • MIG-29 Flight To The E...
    And by the way: the formula what you see on Michael's visor is Newton's law of universal gravity. German artist Michael Najjar performed a high altitude MIG-29 flight.
    Michael Najjar is a German artist, adventurer and - future astronaut. Born in 1966, he has lived and worked in Berlin since 1988. His work is shown in museums, galleries and biennials around the world.
    He works with photography and video. The focus of his work is on key elements of our modern society driven and controlled by computer and information technologies. Najjar, widely seen as a visual futurist, transmutes science, history and philosophy into visions and utopias of future social structures emerging under the impact of cutting-edge technologies. His current work series "outer space" deals with the latest developments in space flight and the way they will shape our future life on earth and in the piles of earth near orbit.
    He used the footage and the pictures of his art line "Outer Space". His interest was to go as as high as possible and to do a lot of rolls. Both you can see in this video. Test pilot Yuri Polyakov flown him through the sound barrier, to the edge of space and did a lot of rolls during the descent from high above. The stunning pictures of Earth's atmosphere are a result of this flight.
    More information about Michael Najjar and his arts: www.michaelnajj...
    Attention: all people who think that Earth is flat should think about to increase knowledge. Humans experience is available nowadays 365/7/24. 500 years ago people were set on fire because they told that Earth is a sphere and that the sun is the centre and not the sphere called Earth. The video (and others we make) was made with GoPro Cameras, what are the state of the art action cams nowadays. These cameras using ultra-wide lenses with 170 degrees, precisely those cameras are known for. It's called barrel distortion, which gives more sized imagery. We do not have to talk about more physics, laws and knowledge, what is known since hundred of years.
    And a final note to "The Edge of Space":
    The border at the edge of space is defined by the Karman Line at 360,000 feet altitude. This is certainly a physical boundary, where aerodynamics stops, and astronautics begins.
    The using of the expression "edge of space" is also referring to a region below the conventional 100 km boundary to space, which is often meant to include substantially lower regions as well, for flights with high atmospheric balloons or aircraft what are flying mostly higher than normal aircraft.

      I personally was on an altitude of 92,500 feet with a MIG-25. But I plan to go higher when the vehicles are ready to do so. These kind of flights representing nowadays the possibility to reach high altitude. Others will come in the next 10 years.

      World record of a jet turbined aircraft was done on Augsut 1, 1977 with 37.650m (123,523ft) in a MIG-25 JE-266M. Thats right. The flight altitude was reached in a parabolic flight path. This record is unbroken since then.

      he (or she?) means the gravity equation rely´s in a misleaded interpretation of what gravity really is: the curvature os space time. The equation works (if you are at much lower speeds than light); but is not the best explanation of what gravity really is.

    Ever since I was a kid, the MIG has been my favourite piece of engineering. The fact that an airplane this old can still hold its own, is a testament to its greatness. These airplanes can take off without worrying about little debris, unlike the American planes.
    The MIG will outlasts its competitors.

    A word in personal matter: Since 2 years, comments are increasing here from "flat earth believers". It doesn't make any sense to discuss with those people facts, science and physics and we will not respond to such requests or quotes anymore. Whether in our video descriptions neither via e-mails.
    We use for the production of this in cockpit videos GoPro Hero cameras. The reason GoPro videos have a slight fish-eye effect is due of the wide angle lens of the camera. It's actually called a barrel distortion which is a result to have a 170 degree lens. This curve/barrel distortion allows for the 170 ultra wide angle shots, and exactly these cameras are known and built for, and not for kidding around to implement a curvature effect of Earth's horizon.
    If you want to sponsor high expensive equipment like RED's Epic Dragon cameras with highly cinematographic lenses (what we use for some productions, but not for inflight cockpit flights with our adventurers), you are invited to do so but we would advise, to visit upfront the shop of RED to know about prices. ;)
    Same we have to say in regards about "flight altitude" or "where edge of space is starting". We know this all, we are working with this all the whole day since more than 15 years. This is not a hobby here, it still is business and this is widely to see. Our team of advisors are professional airline pilots, military pilots, cosmonauts and astronauts. We can't play around like others do. We have a mission to fulfill. Customer satisfactioin to 100%, and we do. And more than that.
    Also we will block user comments here who are not able to respect others or use a to strange vocabulary. And we do not speak here about the f-word. We do not like it in real to delete comments, but we would like to advise all to keep comments friendly to find a good way of respect in communication to each other.
    Thank you & have fun with our videos,
    your mission director of Space Affairs.

      +jay walker Because flat Earth believers kidding us the whole day and tell, we use this cameras to show that Earth has a curvature. In real Earth would be flat. This is the technical description from GoPro in regards of the fish eye lens. And since more than 500 years only mankind accepted that Earth is not flat. For this, we do not have to show any evidence. They should think what ever they want, up to them. Changed the words a little bit because people could implement that we know the truth, what is still out there. ;)

      ***** It still seems to me that your final conclusion is that the world is flat. Am I wrong? Do we want to talk like a bunch of attorney's? which is understandable if we are trying to avoid something from regular people or can you just say straight out. The truth will set you free.

    Nice video. Back in my B-52 days, we never wanted to hear the sound of a Fulcrum radar on our headsets. It wasn't that we couldn't avoid them, but it was pretty darn hard and they were a real pain in the rear to get around. We respected the MIG-29 and considered it a very serious threat (along with the SU-27 and MIG-31).

    • @Space-Affairs
      @Space-Affairs  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for that you like it. The MIG-29, when used as a weapon, it's a dangerous tool. Also we here in Germany had received MIG's from the former Air Force of the GDR as the reunion of Germany was done. There was after it a squadron of MIG-29 based in Laage in Gemany, and the pilots who flown Phantoms flown also the MIG-29 then, and they never ever would let it go. A good friend is a former MIG-29 pilot and he said: forget all the other jets what are still available, the MIG-29 is very special and has superior. After the MIG-29 was "sold" to Poland, some were trained to fly the Eurofighter "Typhoon", and they never liked it, because they want to fly, and not to be controlled by a computer ....

      @@manospetridis1935 The Russians have been out of Afghanistan since 1990. They are also supporting the Syrian Army, not attacking them. So lets get the facts straight, America has been in Afghanistan since 2003 and using their jet fighters to hit the Taliban. America, along with it's allies, has been using their fighter jets to support the Syrian Rebels and the Kurd's. And the Americans are ramping up their spending on new nukes and weaponry to saber rattle at the Russians.

    • @BatMan-oe2gh
      @BatMan-oe2gh 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Rara Neagra Well as the F-22 has not been in combat against the Mig-29, we dont really know do we! And America loses just as many jets as the Russians. Personally, I hope they never meet in combat, because that means we would be in WW3 and that would not be good at all. But please, stop making assumptions about what other countries equipment is like. The F-35 could be a disaster and an expensive one at that.

Again forgive me if I sound like a noob but I'm not to up on aeronautics. Great vid! And much love =)

    • @Space-Affairs
      @Space-Affairs  10 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Jet engines need air. Of course. And yes, the air will be compressed in a special chamber. The world record of altitude with a jet engined aircraft was made in 1977 with a special MIG-25, nearby 38 kilometers on altitude during a zoom climb. Nobody beat this record since then. • @18IMAMGODINA
      @18IMAMGODINA 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah , why would Serbia join the same force that bombed the shit out of their country back in 1999. And I never said that Serbia will buy i said bought , we bought mig-29's and will refurbish them , maybe in some time we will buy new planes eventually , also we have our own built planes that are useful for all sorts of types of scenes ...

    • @Mandrak789
      @Mandrak789 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      StodOne As far as I know, it was communist Yugoslavia who bought MiG-29s, not Serbia --you've only inherited those old birds. And it was a forced decision because the only way for you to get your money back from collapsing USSR which had big debt towards Yugoslavia was to take those MiGs. Otherwise your air force wanted Mirage 2000 not only because it performed better during the evaluation, but also because you had plans to develop new domestic multirole fighter in cooperation with France, which was largely based on Mirage and the upcoming Rafale.
      Regarding NATO: sure you will join it, eventually. You are going into the EU and you are surrounded by NATO. Serbia doesn't have either political nor economical strenght to stay neutral.

    • @18IMAMGODINA
      @18IMAMGODINA 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right , our politicians want to join EU to put money in their own pockets , EU wont do no good for Serbia , if we had more brains and patriots to lead our country and less money and power hungry fucks , we would be facing other direction , EU is just going to chew us untill they get all the meaty parts and they will spit the bones out , if we keep going like this , and today people in Serbia dont even know when the biggest battle and the the battle that decided the path of Serbia that happend in 1389.
      We are proud people but our politicians and others fucks that make plans for the school programs arent and they basacly teach kids the fake history and not even all of the history , Serbia goes way back and we should be proud of our age ... for example . Americans exist few hundred years and they learn every single detail about their history in schools ... like what did the hat of Lincoln look or something like that ....

    I would LOVE to fly that high in a jet. Such a privilege. I love heights, I don't get why people fear them.

    Why does the visor have the formula for gravitational force written on it?

    • @Space-Affairs
      @Space-Affairs  9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      The backseater is Michael Najjar, a german artist. He put that formula on his visor for an arts project what he did out of the footage of the flight.

      ***** Michael Nijjar was one lucky guy !
      Looks like the pilot was not pulling too many G's for Michael, except at the end of the flight at low altitude, vary considerate :-)
      The view of our precious Planet is breath taking.
      Thank you for this upload.

      trespire This isn't the complete video. The longer one is her: th-cam.com/video/AQ1DCN74A6o/w-d-xo.html. They pulled around +7G sometimes. On our channel you find some videos in which backseaters were feeling well and they push behind +8G. But this is only for people who have during a flight a good feeling.

    mig 29 max operations hight 59,000 feet.
    Suborbital Altitude ( the very beginning of space ) is 100 km at the absolute min.
    59,000 feet is ONLY 17.98 KM so you guys have a way to go yet before you can claim anything near the edge of space. which this plane can't get anywhere near.

      Almost every fighter jet can go to the "edge" of space, it's an illusion, it's not really on the edge of space, it's flying in the stratosphere.
