Steric reason. The precise sentence is in ncert.Yeah...bcoz of octahedral geometry whereby all the fluoride atoms are at max dist and angel from each other.
Sulfur central atom is completely covered by fluorides in octahedral fashion. So S can't react with surrounding. Hence it's inert and exceptionally stable
Guys one doubt Like in other structures we do 1,2,3 2 or 3 ka bond tidde ge or 1 or 3 ke beech bind jodde ge agr hum iss concept se dekhe toh yha pr bhi 2 or 3 ka bond tuute ga or 1 or 2 ka judega but yha pr koi bond formation nhi hui Plz answer
And sir can you explain briefly in a separate video ,why at 5:20 (in video) tricyclopropenyl carbocation is more stable than tropylium ion, please explain sir
Sir, in examination if we are given to compare the stability of Carbo cations then how would we approached the question if so much exception exceptions like benzyl carbocation is less stable than 3 degree proply carbocation and also of the new concept of P orbital and Sigma orbital resonance??
Sir in your example ,the cyclo propyl methyl cation there ring. expansion will also be possible..then why u did not consider this matter??I am confused..please explain this!!
But sir actually mein Sigma bond to tranfer hote nhi jo aapne poora ek bond hi hatha diya hai ,they are just overlapping only ,so wo structures banana to galat hai na,please clarify
why is this effect only observed in CPM and not in any other ?also, isn't mesomeric effect the most effective criteria to judge the stablity of carbocations?
Angle strain on the sigma bonds making up the cyclic structure. Cyclopropane is a relatively unstable compound and the sigma bonds making it up are bent at an angle greater than usual. Hence the strained "Banana" shape.
Here's something I found: Cycloalkanes: Ring Strain Early chemists observed that cyclic compounds found in nature generally had five- or six-membered rings. Compounds with three- and four-membered rings were found much less frequently. This observation suggested that compounds with five- and sixmembered rings were more stable than compounds with three- or four-membered rings. In 1885, the German chemist Adolf von Baeyer proposed that the instability of three- and four-membered rings was due to angle strain. We know that, ideally, an sp3 hybridized carbon has bond angles of 109.5° (Section 1.7). Baeyer suggested that the stability of a cycloalkane could be predicted by determining how close the bond angle of a planar cycloalkane is to the ideal tetrahedral bond angle of 109.5°. The angles in an equilateral triangle are 60°. The bond angles in cyclopropane, therefore, are compressed from the ideal bond angle of 109.5° to 60°, a 49.5° deviation. This deviation of the bond angle from the ideal bond angle causes strain called angle strain.

Hey, bro I think YOU shouldn't misguide..... 3 degree cpm is far more stable than a tropylium ion. Spread knowledge only after knowing it completely. Half knowledge is dangerous.

it was a very helpful video thank you. can you please answer me with the reason why sulfur hexafluoride is exceptionally stable?
because it has octahedral geometry. so due to crowding it does not undergo hydrolysis etc.

Sir in your example ,the cyclo propyl methyl cation there ring. expansion will also be possible..then why u did not consider this matter??I am confused..please explain this!!
four membered ring also has substantial angle strain
cyclo propyl methyl is more stable than the 4 membered ring
No in 3 membered ring expansion nahi hota bcz its highly stable due to dancing resonance aur agar expansion karenge to stability decrease hoti hai
Sir in coaching it is told that benzyl is more stable than cyclopropyl methyl
it is, until the said methyl is a carbocation

4:39 wrong concept
That's what I was thinking. It doesn't beat the stability of aromaticity
It is correct it can beat aromaticity
why is this effect only observed in CPM and not in any other ?also, isn't mesomeric effect the most effective criteria to judge the stablity of carbocations?
These are exceptions. You have to learn this.
Sir ye Spiro me kyu nhi hota he
sir,why electron cloud is in banana shape?
Angle strain on the sigma bonds making up the cyclic structure. Cyclopropane is a relatively unstable compound and the sigma bonds making it up are bent at an angle greater than usual. Hence the strained "Banana" shape.
Here's something I found:
Cycloalkanes: Ring Strain
Early chemists observed that cyclic compounds found in nature
generally had five- or six-membered rings. Compounds with three- and
four-membered rings were found much less frequently. This observation
suggested that compounds with five- and sixmembered rings were more
stable than compounds with three- or four-membered rings.
In 1885, the German chemist Adolf von Baeyer proposed that the
instability of three- and four-membered rings was due to angle strain.
We know that, ideally, an sp3 hybridized carbon has bond
angles of 109.5° (Section 1.7). Baeyer suggested that the stability of a
cycloalkane could be predicted by determining how close the bond angle
of a planar cycloalkane is to the ideal tetrahedral bond angle of
109.5°. The angles in
an equilateral triangle are 60°. The bond angles in cyclopropane,
therefore, are compressed from the ideal bond angle of 109.5° to 60°, a
49.5° deviation. This deviation of the bond angle from the ideal bond
angle causes strain called angle strain.
