Reading opens up a mountain full of possibilities. It is truly a treasure, especially when it comes to childhood games like this one. I cut out part of the middle to keep the video under ten minutes.
+Brad Morgan I'm 31 and remember this game as well, played it back in the early 90s. I've been trying to find this game for years as I couldn't remember what it was called!
This and Zoombinis were my first games when I was maybe 3 in 1999. Educational games back then were so amazing because regular games were being made on the same budget, so something like this was just as solid as anything else you could play.
Quite easily. You can just keep throwing coins to find the treasures (either just checking everywhere or working out the clues from the items you find, kinda working backwards) and catching elves when you run out. It may take a little longer, but otherwise perfectly easy to do
31 years old here. Just got a new washing machine that makes boops and beeps everytime you press a button. It was reminding me of something but I couldn't think of what. This was it. Gonna download, finish a 25 year legacy.
Oh man, I remember our "Computer class" back in elementary school consisting of playing this (and Mavis Beacon) for about 90 minutes. Those were the days.
***** Midnight Rescue, most likely. Same main character from the same company, except it was robots inside a school. I had it one my first computer running MS-DOS.
finally figured out what this game was. I used to play it when I was 3 but I didn't know how to read and didn't have anyone to help me so it took a lot to figure out how to get nets and randomly guess correct answers.
This just unlocked a core memory. I’ve been trying to remember what this game was for years from vague memories. But all those little sounds were hiding in my brain! Amazing to see it again.
This game stuck in my memory. Forgot the name, just remembered the premise, seeing it now I realize why it's stuck with me. Think it should be every kids first game.
I'm 27 and I used to play this every day at school when we first got school computers and I was in 4th grade. So depressing, I want to go back to grade 4
Well, you also do it over and over to get higher star ranks - near the start of the vid the helper butterfly says he needs 52 more treasures to earn the 6-star rank
OH MY GOD. This brings back all those memories of me playing this back in preschool, kindergarten and first grade. This game TRULY DEFINES part of my very childhood.
Fortunately, this game can be downloaded from www.myabandonware.com. I just downloaded it yesterday and it works great. Then, download DosBox. That's all you need to play it. It will work on Windows, i'm not sure how to make it work on mac. I hope you play it again :)
Wow! I used to play this game so much after school. I remember I used to tell my folks I was doing homework on the computer, until the music got me busted. And the music... :)
Played this game, a "3D" Chess game, a Rabbit math/word Game, & solitaire on my family's Windows 3 computer when I was little. *Thanks for the memories* 🙂
HOLY FUCKING SHIT I FOUND IT! D: I can't believe what I'm looking at. I've literally been describing this game to friends for about a decade, desperately seeking help trying to remember what the fuck it was. It'd been so long, I was almost certain I'd imagined it. It's amazing to see it, and to read all the comments here of people who've been going through the same personal dilemma. A piece of my childhood has just come back to me, as if from some lovely, distant dimension.
wow!! this is so nostalgic for me!!! I played this game when I was like 6 years old on a floppydisc in my parents computer in the 90's!! Brings back memories!
I used to play this game when I was about 4-5 at my aunties house, for the last 20 years I’ve been trying to remember the name of this game, thank you good sir for scratching that itch.
I am so fucking happy right now. I have been trying to find this game for years! I described it to friends and they didnt know what i was talking about. I tried googling it for so long and not finding anything close to this game. I really cannot believe I finally found this game. I played this game so much at school when I was a child and absolutely loved it. I am so happy seeing this game again, it brings back so many memories!
This was my favorite game! Played hours on this game!! They really need to come out with a collectors PC game on CD of all the awesome game from the 80s to the late 90s that would be awesome!! Definitely the best games ever.
@kirbyhero256 : The score amount is in treasures. 300 treasures mean champion of Treasure Mountain. Even you reach 300, the game continues and fun/learning never ends.
Wow, I havent seen this game since i was 6, I just remembered the name of it for the first time in about 18 years. It is just as i remembered after all these years. I can now die a happy man.
for years i have described this game and never could figure it out i thought it was a dream i created in my mind, i always was like it was of the time of oregon trail with the backpack, and the key, and the treasure chest, so broad i thought it was lost in time and now i can hear that magical song that oh so magical song climing up the ladder
lol This was my fave game as a kid. I used to get so mad at the elves. The sound that would occur when an elf would get some coins used to make me SOOO mad lol.
John Ralph How do you own it? I used to have it for an old 90s computer and got rid of it to upgrade to a modern one so now I can't play it anymore. Do you know of a way to get it on a modern computer or anything?
I use to answer randomly at the questions and got to a stage where I would recognize the answers ang get them all right...Best game ever...what an atmosphere
Wow. I haven't thought about about this game for like 20 years. Was actually looking for another old pc game I used to play at school when I found this one.
Remember playing this on my grandparents computer. Wish i could go back and talk to them more as an adult (my kid brain was more interested in video games)
Oh god I used to play this game all the time at school when I was little. The best was one summer when my family was picked to take home one of the school computers over the summer because then my sister and I could play this all day and finally get to the end. ^^
It took me a long time to realize that the only elves worth trying to net are the ones that are holding a Scroll. Once you figure out that you'll never waste nets again but then the game is so easy lol . This game had the best music
I'm almost 30 years old and I remember this game like it was yesterday
Me too! I remember shuffling through all my dad's floppy discs to find this and play it after school :)
+Brad Morgan I'm 31 and remember this game as well, played it back in the early 90s. I've been trying to find this game for years as I couldn't remember what it was called!
I was just listening to Google Music and the song came on and it was so familiar! I googled Solfeggietto and found this! I loved this game!
This and troggle
@@xXNSYNCLoverxX *disks*
wow dude wow. this is one of my first memories of I life. I played this game when I was 4
Right? This and lemmings were like the first games I ever played.
I was about to comment the exact same thing, but you beat me to it. By four years, no less. How is 2014?
This and Zoombinis were my first games when I was maybe 3 in 1999. Educational games back then were so amazing because regular games were being made on the same budget, so something like this was just as solid as anything else you could play.
@@kaibaCorpHQ Strange.... this and lemmings were also the first games I ever played.
john basedow same man!!!! Never looked back
I have no idea how I managed to play this game without knowing how to read
Quite easily. You can just keep throwing coins to find the treasures (either just checking everywhere or working out the clues from the items you find, kinda working backwards) and catching elves when you run out. It may take a little longer, but otherwise perfectly easy to do
I chose not to read and still played. But I never got anywhere.
This is causing an extreme nostalgic crisis right now. Incredible. Thank you for uploading this!
SAME!
31 years old here. Just got a new washing machine that makes boops and beeps everytime you press a button. It was reminding me of something but I couldn't think of what. This was it. Gonna download, finish a 25 year legacy.
I just spent a day trying to find the name of this game. Bless you!
I spent 2 minutes finding it. I knew it had mountain in the name but I didn't know the other word
Ikr. I used to play this game so much!
@Danny M *2nd*
I spent 20 fucking years…

Me too
First we had to do type to learn and then we got game time
+Joseph Mostarda Same here! I never really thought about it but I suppose many schools had these games.

For some reason, this seemed way more high tech when I was a kid lol those graphics used to look like CoD to me.
It took me soooo long to beat the game and then i only found 1 treasure lol
Haha
Same! And I remembered SNOW!
Same, I remember it looking better. I wonder if there's a slightly newer version or something. lol.
@@OvhanDevos there is a newer version with updated graphics. There are 3 versions total.
Wow, this game was deep buried in my memory that I specifically can't remember much, but can feel it. Love the chiptune Bach.
darkNiGHTS0 i
The ladder-climbing section with the villain lunging at you through the windows always freaked me the fuck out, lmao.
awakened_link do you know what happens if his arm happens to touch you as you're climbing the ladders?
I think it knocks you off the ladder. I think it's shown in this video at 7:33, but that might have been the player trying to dodge by going left.
Huh. So this is where my love of classical music started.
Same here too!!! I did not realize this until you said it!
An absolute banger of a game. I can't count how much I played this game. Absolute nostalgia.
who would dare give this a thumbs down?! This is awesome! 80s babies stand up!
They are jealous they missed out!
Those are Morty Maxwells minions that are giving the thumbs down
words cannot express how happy seeing this again makes me. I just watching him walk.

I FINALLY FOUND IT!! I used to absolutely love this game growing up in the 90s
We found it together 😂
SOOOO MUCH NOSTALGIA!!!
Nothing more satisfying than the brand new net!
Geezus....it seems so short now. It took me so long to find the treasures when I was a kid. But there's only three stages.
Well, you also do it over and over to get higher star ranks - near the start of the vid the helper butterfly says he needs 52 more treasures to earn the 6-star rank
this is like a primal memory. these games were magical
OH MAN. I REMEMBER THIS GAME.
