As a Southern American, I feel I must correct your misconceptions about Southern geography and climate. You're confusing the topography of the Southeast, more commonly called the South, with that of the Southwest. The Southeast, which extends southward from Virginia to the tip of Florida, and westward to Texas, is, by and large, one of the greenest and most fertile regions of the country. For example, Eastern Tennessee, where I live, is home to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which has been named a World Biosphere by the UN because of the extraordinary variety a plant life that grows here. Indeed, more different tree species grow in the American South than in all of Europe. The transition to a western climate, i.e. more arid and desert-like, occurs in Texas approximately an hour's drive west of Fort Worth. East of Fort Worth and Dallas, the terrain remains primarily green, rolling hills, as seen across the South. West of those cities one begins to encounter a dryer climate, with less vegetation, and more expansive vistas. Just FYI. 😊

Trust me, we Americans know. We of all people know how much it sucks for a single person to act on our behalf in videos like these and cause many Brits to generalize us.
@B Babbich I partially agree. I’ve never heard anyone be so rude to another person as Europeans are to Americans. But if you can get past the prejudice then they are nice. It’s weird because they’ll be your best friend while still making nasty comments about your country.
I hope that everyone realizes that the "tests in the street" specifically find people who don't know answers to simple/common questions for the comedy of it all.
I don't know why people think the change of spelling with some words is an independence thing, but what I do know is that it's false. Basically in America some time in the 18/1900's when newspapers came around, it was charged by the letter, whereas almost everywhere else it was charged by the word count. So what people started doing is removing "unnecessary letters" so that it was still legible, but not nonsense. They'd do this to save money, or if can only spend a certain amount, extend the amount of text they can pay for
I think it was because it said ‘I’m getting rid of you’. They didn’t get the joke of ‘you’ being the letter ‘u’, and thought it was something to do with independence.
@@O_O7z Damn bro, why you gotta be so heated. This comment was informative, and an aside from the video. Maybe go to Reddit and look at what whoosh comments actually are: nothing like this. And while you’re at it, take out your negativity somewhere else please x
I don't know where this theory popped up, but it seems untrue from what I've seen. First, it doesn't make sense when a lot of the spelling differences between UK and USA spelling are the same amount of letters (Theater/theatre, Defense/defence, Realize/realise, etc). Second, even BBC has articles that talk about how these spelling changes were primarily a form of independence protest that some American activities (such as Noah Webster) promoted. Basically, such activists thought it was important to distinguish the USA from the UK and assert ownership of the language (which might be called "American English")
You can tell them apart? Im aure the average person just considers all the species (not breed. Totally different term) of swan under one category because who really going to take the time to distinguish them?
"Old rich people know there's the south and it's all deserty" Ahem...South West is deserty (and even that is only marginally more accurate)....The South east is forests, mountains, wetlands, swamps, grasslands, etc. The South is not deserty. It's quite literally the opposite. In fact, the Southern US has one of the greatest biodiversities globally (it's in the top 5-10, IIRC).
I can’t remember how many times I’ve been on mic and an American just poking fun at a Brit’s accent saying like “Oh it’s chewsday innit”, then they come back with 9/11 or shootings. Great mood killer.
@@faux4780 They’re very different levels. I haven’t met a single person that actually hates an accent, it’s just to have fun. The problem is that a lot of times the event they talk about is very serious. I know a lot of people that were shown 9/11 at school, and it really wrecks you. You also have people talk about their experience year after year, which shouldn’t be overlooked, but it gets scary when you’re seven and you hear it. I can get past the “Oh yeah everyone carries a gun” joke, but not with kids dying. Idk it just doesn’t feel nice when one moment you’re messing around, and someone brings up people dying. I hope this didn’t seem like I was being rude, and I hope this wasn’t long. I don’t think all Brits are like this, it’s just kinda sad
@@bluefrog2350 I meant that when someone with a different accent talked, an American might poke fun at it. Then, the person with the different accent would say something about 9/11 in response. The problem was the making fun turned into talking about a horrible event, instead of making fun of their accent, or something like that.

The English Language is English from ENGLAND! Not British, that is a flag. Then there are the dialects, in England, I identify as English. Scotland has their own dialects, the Irish are Irish Gaelic from Eire, Wales are Welsh, they are all Celts.
Yeah on the other side it gets annoying when foreigners group together entire states and regions and draw assumptions from them and what gets me the most is not understanding U.S politics but still comparing them to European politics without considering the majorly different situations each country was created in.
What about most people calling USA "America" ?? Last I checked, it was and still is, a Continent... North and South... And by territory size, would make more sense to call Canada America than the USA.
@@f.d.m.4914 Well it probably comes from calling people from united states "americans" and since mexico and Canada have there own name and the name America is in our official country name it stuck. Think of it has a shortened version of USA and not the continent l.

North Carolina- Charlotte- Raleigh?

I hope that everyone realizes that the "tests in the street" specifically find people who don't know answers to simple/common questions for the comedy of it all.
They edit out the people who know their stuff, that's why people look dumber than average.
actually it says a lot about the target audience instead
That’s true
Obviously they only use the dumb/entertaining answers but it's still crazy how many people there are with the most insanely stupid answers
They'd do this to save money, or if can only spend a certain amount, extend the amount of text they can pay for
That is interesting, if you have a source on it, I would love to read up on that.
I think it was because it said ‘I’m getting rid of you’. They didn’t get the joke of ‘you’ being the letter ‘u’, and thought it was something to do with independence.
it was just a joke, it didnt have anything to do with the war of indeoendance. its just "u" sounds like "you"
@@O_O7z Damn bro, why you gotta be so heated.
