This whole album feels like a sitting in on a jam session of 5 world class musicians, just hanging out and pushing each other to further creative levels.
This song is my favorite from Machine Head. It shows some of the best examples of the extream talent of each and ALL of the members of the group. And about your comments about the Hamond organ, yes, there is alot of organ used in this song, but most being fed through a Marshall amp instead of the Leslie tone wheel speaker, and then a combination of both gave it that vibrato sound in a heavy sound. Jon refered to this set up of his Hamond B3 as "the beast" or in Beast mode.
Every cut off Machine Head is a deadset hit....''Pictures of Home'' is unique in the whole DP catalog coz it has a cameo feature for every member of the band and that alone makes it a priceless standout track. ''Never Before'' off the same album cooks, with a funky intro and a fiery keyboard solo closing the track. For a tasty change of pace with a grinding rhythm, hook into ''No One Came'' by DP off Fireball
I was 4 when this came out and it was my favorite album my whole childhood and is still one of my all time favorites. Sheer perfection….always generates great memories 🤘❤️
PURE GENIUS AND INSANITYYYYY AT IT'S FINEST, NO KIDDING SALVO! 😊AND ONLYYYYYY 50 YEARS AGO! 😊 THIS IS FOR SURE IN THE TOP 50 ROCK ALBUMS ( MACHINE HEAD ) OF ALLLLL TIME, JUST 7 TRACKS AND ABOUT 40 MINS.
Man, this album has no bad songs on it, it's one of their best. My brother owned the album back in the day and I now own the CD lol. I really can't figure out why this song didn't get the attention it deserved, truly a diamond in the ruff. Thanks for this!
Machine Head was released in 1972 but was written and recorded between the 6th and 21st of December 1971. In the out of season grand hotel looking over the Swiss alps pictures of home was the loneliness vocalist Ian gillan was feeling.
John Lord was phenomenal on the Hammond. On this album he unleashed what he called "The Beast" in that instead of a "nice" Hammond tone, he ran it through a Marshall guitar amp instead of a Leslie. There are times on the album where it sounds like two guitars instead of guitar and Hammond. wonderful stuff.
I love your Deep Purple reactions. You might as well finish this album because every song on it is a classic. Jon Lord’s keyboard sounds are a huge part of the Deep Purple sound. If I remember correctly, he ran his Hammond organ through a distorted Marshall amplifier instead of the normal keyboard amplification. That’s how he created that unique keyboard sound.
I’m telling you, just do this entire album!! It’s amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Yes that’s the amazing Jon Lord on the Hammond 🎹🎼 Roger Glover on the bass 🎸 Ritchie Blackmore on Guitar, Ian Paice on Drums & of course the amazing Ian Gillan on vocals 🎤♥️🔥
That was the B3. You'll notice that Ritchie plays a lot of single-note rhythm on many songs. Listen for it here. One of my favorite songs on the album.
Something you said in your last comments on this video really moved me. I was there hearing this when it came out and I had exactly that same reaction as you did hearing it for the first time and you are right they have always been an amazing bunch of guys and amazing musicians. No one else like them Do you play an instrument too? I have been playing guitar for 57 yrs now. Since I was 11. Kurt from Maine
You know i never listen to them before after hearing this song im a fan. The only dp song prior to this is smoke on the water wow really missed out but I’ll make up now
Yo en el 1972 tenía 14 años cuando eschuche por Primera Vez machine Head me dio vuelta la cabeza de ahí en mas soy fan de estos dioses del Rock DEEP PURPLE
They still have Pictures of Home on their setlist nowadays and are still fully capable of turning goatpiss into gasoline.🤘🏻😁 Don Airey is just great and a worthy successor of Jon Lord.
During my high school years, this was, without a doubt, my favorite band. This is a great album, but then again, so much of their 70s output is great. I'd suggest you check out No No No (from Fireball [1971]), Smoke on the Water and Strange Kind of Woman (live versions from Made in Japan [1972]), Super Trooper (from Who Do We Think We Are? [1973]), Mistreated (from Burn [1974]), Love Don't Mean a Thing (from Stormbringer [1974]), Owed to 'G' (from Come Taste the Band [1975]), You Fool No One (live version from Made in Europe [1976]) and Wild Dogs (live version from Last Concert in Japan [1977]). That's a mixed bag of different styles from three different incarnations of the band. I guarantee every one of them a banger. I envy you're opportunity to hear these for the first time... Cheers!
DEEP PURPLE, "PICTURES OF HOME". I was 15 when I first heard this album. There were a lot of teenagers who listened to one, or maybe two songs Off an album. I myself checked out each song. I came to the conclusion that there were several albums that were completely dynamite, turned these albums into groovy jam sessions. Machine Head is one of those albums. In these albums each band members of their group were highly developed musicians many not too far past highschool. That fact too had me in complete awe. 🎶 Rock On ✌ 🎵
Machine Head, along with Days of Future Passed by the Moody Blues and Brain Salad Surgery by Emerson, Lake & Palmer were the albums I listened to the most when I was a teenager. There are no bad songs on any of them!
So glad you played this masterpiece not heard enough but it shows what a fantastic band of musicians they are Gillan's powerhouse of a voice ian Paice such an underrated drummer Glover's baseline lord a keyboard wizard and probably one of my favourite guitarists in Blackmore a unique band and there best lineup on my opinion.
Smoke on the water gets all the attention but Pictures of home and Lazy are the best songs on the album. I was 14 when this came out and it was indeed mind blowing at that time.
First Time I heard the whole album, obviously I thought it was good beyond words ( I knew Highway Star and Smoke on the Water before hand),but for some reason, this very song got stuck in my mind for days. What a gem! Now I know, that it's because every instrument has it's moment of glory. It's still, maybe, my absolute favourite DP track, next to Child in Time. At least, it's the one I always select When someone wants to discover a less well know song.
Love this song..FOOLS is heavy as shit. Great message too. 2nd albumn Book of Talesyn..soon progressive and trippy....The Shield,Anthem,Bird has flown.Nantucket Sleighride from MOUNTAIN..Vanilla Fudge live video from 67 you keep me hanging on..big influence onDP and ZEP...ESP..CARMINES TWIRLING STICKS AND HEAVY PLUS HARMONYS...YOURE WELCOME
Rock Candy by MONTROSE 1973 studio version with it's Thunderous snare drums and Tom Tom drums it's one of Sammy Hagar beginning groups he was part of this group and what a Rock Metal song long before it was even popular right from the start it's blasting on your speakers and headphones 🎧
When are you going to react to Stargazer by Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow? If you love his guitar playing in Deep Purple, you'll love Stargazer. Also, Burn by Deep Purple. Those songs have 2 of my favorite Blackmore solos. also try Highway Star version from Made in Japan album or Strange Kind of Woman from Made in Japan album. "Made in Japan" was the greatest live album of all time (my opinion), followed by UFO "Strangers in the Night."

I don't know about the internet, but that is one of Deep Purple's greatest songs.
that little lead break just before the fadeout reminds me of Tommy Bolin
Fire Ball by Deep Purple 1971 long version with Double kick drums
For me it is the most exciting track of the album. Amazing.
Best song off the album....Paice is killing it.
Favorite? 5th best.
Yessssss....THEE BESTTTTT!!!!!
Lazy is a must listen, it is a jam! Roll em if you got em folks
One of the best rock albums ever, always in my top ten. Zero filler
"It's just not normal..." EXCELLENT comment man, just excellent! Loved your reaction. 🖖🖖

Another song from this release that has it's own vibe. "Maybe I'm A Leo".
Late 60s and early 70s was insane era in Rock music history. Hard to find a band nowadays that could compete with these bands.
My fave off this album. Glad you got to hear it.
YOU CRACK ME UP! THE LOOK ON YOUR FACE AS YOU'RE TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY, AGAIN AND AGAIN IS GENUINE AND FUN TO WATCH! 😀🤟🤟🤟🤟
One of the best rock albums ever.
This brings back memories of my youth.
I was 4 when this came out and it was my favorite album my whole childhood and is still one of my all time favorites. Sheer perfection….always generates great memories 🤘❤️
Deep Purple is like addition habits
Now you have to react to DEEP PURPLE IN ROCK album 1970, track by track
Onde word bout these five guys: pure talent
PURE GENIUS AND INSANITYYYYY AT IT'S FINEST, NO KIDDING SALVO! 😊AND ONLYYYYYY 50 YEARS AGO! 😊 THIS IS FOR SURE IN THE TOP 50 ROCK ALBUMS ( MACHINE HEAD ) OF ALLLLL TIME, JUST 7 TRACKS AND ABOUT 40 MINS.

Jon Lord is the King of the Hammond B3. this album is Iconic. every single song got played on the radio.
50 años escuchado a Deep Purple y jamás me aburro!!
Ian Gillan, tremenda voz ❤.
Gracias por tu reacción!!😊
💜💜💜💜💜

Should try When A Blind Man Cries, you’ll see!
They play it live almost every tour the last 10-15 years.
The album that introduced the to sound of deep purple back in 76 and I've seen them live twice while living in new Zealand
that little part at 6:10 where it goes straight from keyboard to bass solo gets me every time omg
Check out Flight of The Rat off the Deep Purple in Rock album. Might as well finish this album then Deep Purple in Rock album.
I was 15 when I fell in love with this.
Its fricken Excellent!
that guitar solo !!!!!!
This whole album is great. Also:
Deep Purple - Stormbringer (Live in Graz 1975) Mk3 Deep Purple at its best
I love your Deep Purple reactions. You might as well finish this album because every song on it is a classic. Jon Lord’s keyboard sounds are a huge part of the Deep Purple sound. Best band ever.. need to check out Strange kind of woman, Woman from Tokyo, and Rat bat blue
My favorite, but not one clunker in this amazing album.
I would say "hidden gem" perfectly describes this song on this album.
You know i never listen to them before after hearing this song im a fan. The only dp song prior to this is smoke on the water wow really missed out but I’ll make up now
Apart from superb musicianship let us praise Ian Gillan's voice and great lyrics
Великая вещь
This was one of thee first albums I learned start to finish and to this day still one of my favorites. These guys are all ultra-level talents.
Black Knight by Deep Purple 1971
I think next for you should be FLIGHT OF THE RAT
In the 1970s this was a standard 8 track album when rocking down the road!
One of the best and most memorable albums from my childhood. Not a bad track in there at all!
My favorite of the album. Thank you for reacting to this song. For some reason few tend go past Smoke on the Water and Highway Star.
A creat Sing us hold on.the singer is David coverdale that after was t'he líder of whitesnake

No One Came and Anyone's Daughter from Fireball are my favorite deep cuts from DP. Great story songs with awesome tongue in cheek lyrics.
They still have Pictures of Home on their setlist nowadays and are still fully capable of turning goatpiss into gasoline.🤘🏻😁 Don Airey is just great and a worthy successor of Jon Lord.
This entire album is 🔥🔥🔥
Next to Made In Japan, this is an excellent album!
Un monument ce groupe 🎸🎸👏👍👏👏👏👏

U gotta do Woman FROM TOKYO. Also Smoke ON THE WATER best songs off this album. Really great songs.
Woman From Tokyo's not on this album
The best song of this killing machine album, followed by Space Truck8n' , in my opinion, of course
Du très grand art 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸👏👍👍
DEEP PURPLE, "PICTURES OF HOME". As I always said, off of Machine Head. I was 15 when I first heard this album. There's not a bad song on it.
Fabuleux groupe 🎸🎸🎶🎶🎤🎤🎤👏👏👏👏👏👏

If it wasn't for your channel I would never have heard this song even though I grew up with this music.
Never played live with Ritchie. But ever since.. 1993
Try "Hush."
If you like Deep Purple then you must check out the Burn album!
TRIPPY
Not bad for being recorded in a vacant hotel with a mobile recording unit, hard to believe its been 53 years.
btw, listen to FOCUS - Anonymous 2
Apart from machine head try fireball
Back in the day we broke out the hashish for this album.
you STILL have not done the most played depp purple song!! it is called LAZY do the studio versio =BEST SONG THEY EVER DID !!!!!!! you have missed out MISSED OUT DO LAZY AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND!! lazy is what every party played more than any other deep p song HONEST I WAS THERE
Some keyboards sound cheesy, but Lord's sound meaty, really like a second guitar.
Do Night Ranger’s Don’t tell me you love me
I still think that fire ball and in rock are better they just didn't get much radio play and machine head did...
5 solos? Drums Keyb gitar bass gitar
They made the song I disliked the most become the top while this one that I liked the best left unplayed. I hate Smoke on the Water!!
