I personally really preferred the 15mm over the 11mm. No vibrations, much more consistent drops and resets. The thing is a tank, but weirdly has a large sweet spot for having no edge foam. Not a plush paddle by any means.. I wish there wasn't so much drama surrounding Proton, because it really is unique.

I was just looking to replace my badminton racket so I have been looking at a lot of reviews, but then this video showed up. I love badminton rackets and I'm quite particular about what I play with, so I was curious to learn about high end pickleball paddles. I mean no offence here, but I always felt pickleball was a rather dull and slow sport so I never spent much time learning about it. However, this video alone has completely changed my view of the sport - it is definitely something that can be played as hard and seriously as any other racket sport. You alone and the quality of this video has turned this into a sport that I want to get into. Keep going!

It's probably 20 times more fun to play Pickleball than to watch, and professional play is so refined that it actually makes the sport look too easy. Not to mention the production quality is awful most of the time (1080p 30fps???) and it doesn't capture the true speed of the ball due to the depth perception of the POV they use. I would say 4.0-5.5 is probably the sweet spot for entertainment

@@adamheath4599 yeah I kinda just rub if off with my hand in between rallies, but the best way would probably be a damp paper towel or regular towel. Would not recommend a rubber eraser used on carbon fiber paddles
Gen 3 related: you said you’re still trying to get refunded? If by PB central, I never got email replies, but I called them and handled my refund that way.
I bought mine from a local retailer and they said they haven’t been refunded by Joola yet so they’re not giving customers refunds until that happens. Told me I could just hang on to it until then

@@maxlevelpickleball oh where do I even start man. Well the swing weights are high, which I don’t mind because I play with heavy paddles anyways. But the weight, I think is due to drag from the nanotac surface. So the high swing weight isn’t even equating to more power. For the 11MM version, the power and pop were decent, but that was about it. The sweet spot was mediocre, I couldn’t reset the ball, my drops were inconsistent, the spin is good but not ground breaking. I get more spin with my black diamond. The 15mm is good in that is has a good sweet spot, the control game with drops and resets are good, but it just has no pop at the kitchen to be offense. The power is solid as well. All in all, the elongated versions are just lack luster paddles with no real strengths other than lasting spin, not even top end spin. Mind you, I’ve used the paddle for about 3 months to give it a fair shot.

The proton collects ball dust like crazy. I wipe it off between every rally. If you don't you feel like that area doesn't have the grippy texture.

@@sesamesprinkles Nah, I wouldn't. You can simply rub it off with your hand or shirt very easily.
I wash mine. After a couple days, I’ll use a a squeezed out wet paper towel and wipe it, and then go over it again with a dry one.
