Repentance is part of salvation. 2 Cor 7.10: "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death." Acts 20.21: "Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ." Repentance is not a work. It is true judgement of ourselves before God. Repentance, belief, and faith go together. Repentance cannot be separated from salvation.
Didn't John the baptist call people to repentance. To acknowledge they are sinners and want to change their ways. Then recieve the baptism of the holy spirit. Also, isn't it dangerous to tell people no lifestyle change is required. They can't go on willfully sinning or things will be even worse for them come judgement. For us gentiles what is important is the spiritual washing from the pure water of God's word. Repentance, then ask forgiveness of sins, then washed clean in the word. A bride prepared and washed (like Jewish brides were) ready for the wedding. I'mm not against people getting water baptised. I just think we put too heavy emphasis on the water. Water baptism is a picture of the real thing. I went before God, repented for my sins and said I believed Jesus died and rose on the third day. Then I felt the holy spirit change me and all I felt was love and peace. My eyes welled up and I was appologising for running from him my whole life. It dawned on my the sins I had committed in my life. I didn't even know what it was I was experiencing at the time as I wasn't religious. I don't think these bible tracts are works based salvation. What you are doing crossing out all those words from the tract is telling people that no repentance is required.

John the Baptist was before the Cross. He lived under the law. So, of course was telling people under the law to repent and turn back to God, which was the message of the law. However, after Christ came, died on the cross, and rose again, the Old Covenant ended. Living in this new era, called the Age of Grace, all that is needed is to realize that you are a sinner in need of Christ, to recognize that he loved you, died on the cross for your sins, and rose again. Once you believe that by calling upon him to save you, you will be saved as promised in Romans 10:9-13. Very simple.

It says...will not prosper. It's not speaking about "repent of sins for salvation." But it appears that you are reading into that, that is what is meant. Regarding the gospel, It is a GIFT, by which according to the scriptures a individual believes in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Years ago I was part of an organization 10000 tracks at a time and had a name of our organization on the back page. Unfortunately that organizational longer exist. Even though I agree with some of what you say I still believe there are many people have come to know Jesus Christ is our savior from Reading Trick Tracks. You might want to talk correctly today but about some of your problems with it. I do not realize why it's taken me this long to realize this stuff shown in the video. I've been using these tracts for years. I can only hope that God has been able to use the truth in them to win someone to Christ. I don't feel I can use them anymore and have ordered some different tracts.

I know I’m saved only because of what He did for me on Calvary and not anything I’ve done or will do …as if that would be enough. What does "Jesus being enough" mean to you. That you can continue in wilful sin if you like and still expect to remain in the faith? For example. Telling the world you are a Christian. The bible clearly says no drunkard will enter heaven. Yet you continue to get drunk every weekend, just a general example, I don't know you personally. Do you think God will be mocked like that, especially when once we are born again we are given victory over the enemy, God can break all our chains. He didn't save us to remain in our sins. We should walk in victory, and before anyone say it. That doesn't mean sinless perfection, trusting our own works. It means we have faith, we believe what the bible says and we follow Jesus. That way is narrow. Also God's promises are conditional on us remaining in, abiding in Christ. We aren't doing that if we live in the flesh.

Repentance is not even in the ball park of works. Works involve things like helping a blind person cross the street. Belief itself would infer turning from sin. Calling repentance (which means turning from sin) works in any way, shape or form is beyond ludicrous. Willingness to turn from sin as an automatic component of what believing would entail is still completely under pure grace alone.
It actually is. The following verse shows how turning away from sins, feeling bad for them etc… is works and how God Himself repents from something. Not because He did something wrong (for He is holy) but because repentance simply means changing your mind. Calling repentance works shocks me. The first words out of Peter's mouth to those gathered on the day of Pentecost after the tongues of fire fell, included the word "Repent" In Romans 6 we learn about the call to not continue in sin and in verse 6:22 we learn that the fruit of holiness results in eternal life. In Hebrews 12:14 we are warned that "without holiness, no one will see the Lord."
to "be willing to turn from sin" is different than to stop sinning. this is not picking and lack of spiritual understanding. Bible says work out your salvation with fear and trembling, what do you suppose that means brother?

So if you don’t take the polygraph you do not get to marry my daughter. It is your decision but if you refuse the polygraph you don’t get to marry my daughter. Chick tracts teach if you don’t turn from your sins you do not go to heaven. Being willing just means you are not forced. But if you don’t turn from your sins you do not go to heaven.
Nit-picking. Repenting [changing our minds] results in turning away from sin, we then start the battle between flesh and spirit which will last all of our lives.
Remember, these steps are not an everyday thing after being Christian. They are for people that have yet to be Christian! Huge difference. Therefore: 1. Is correct. 2. Jesus did say "sin no more" and "take the log out of your own eye first" as well as repentance (to change). 3. Before you are saved, a person does need to believe that Jesus died for them. I guess they could have done better by adding in "for your sins." But they do add scripture source. 4. But this step includes confessing that Jesus IS your savior. The reason this list appears confrontational is because people think they are face value scriptures. They are not. They are the authors advice backed up by scripture. Also, the prayer is still acceptable. Because every Christian will be judged according to their work. Jesus is clear concerning you reap what you sow. That means that even though we have redemption in the blood of Christ, we still need to be willing to turn from sin. We have to continue to repent. This is a hard topic because it deals with "once saved, always saved." But if Jesus Christ came, and you said "I've been baptized, I accepted Jesus as my savior, I have faith in him" it will show that you will be a LIAR if in the last day alive you still smoked and sinned. Jesus will tell you to depart from him. Jesus said that no one can pluck out of his hands whom is saved (take from my hands). But what if a person chooses not to live in his faith? He was not plucked from eternal salvation, he chose to LOSE his eternal salvation. You can lose your grace if you do not put real faith into Jesus. Live in Christ. Dont just say you are saved by Christ. When you mentioned the verse in ACTS...It is hard to believe in (Jesus) someone if you do not listen to what they tell you. People asked Jesus who will inherit the kingdom of heaven. Jesus told them "whomever does the will of the father." So what is the will of the father? To believe in the son. BUT It's hard to believe in someone if you do not listen to what they tell you. Jesus tells us to repent, to baptize, to be vigilant, that even your "faith" is dead without work. You cant just say you "believe in Jesus." You have to live in Christ. Show that you repent in your life and that you follow righteousness after being saved.
Those who promote Lordship Salvation I have a question for you: Have you quit sinning? Did you quit sinning when you came to Jesus? What I did find while reading a chick tract was, it pointed out sin in a persons life. The problem with this and all Chick tracts is they teach Works salvation. You must turn from your sins to be saved. In Romans 10:9,10 when you Confess with your mouth and believe with your heart you are believing in Jesus. What does it mean to believe in Jesus? You believe the gospel. The verse clearly says thou shalt be saved.

From the comments here: many are still stuck in their work for heaven false salvation. The simple interaction of Jesus and the lady brought to him by a bunch of me claiming she was caught in adultery. Jesus to be the perfect lamb of God had to live a sinless life. This was a bit of a pickle for him. But according to law she had to have 2 or more accusers. Jesus found a way to remove them and she was let go free. Telling hereto sin not more was a wise thing anyone would say. Just like if you were a parent and your child buns them self with the hot stove. You still tell them to not do that again, because it will hurt them. Yet if they do burn themselves again do you just walk away and say "I told you not to, so now I will leave you there to suffer". The work for heaven group today would have loved it, if Jesus would have joined those accusers and stoned that lady to death, and as a perfectly holy man he could have. Much of the teachings that Jesus did while here and what he did had to be perfect under the law to be the perfect sacrifice. Taking those experiences and applying them to every person that wants to be saved for heaven creates a work for heaven plan that no one can do. A person has to see Christ as their only savior apart from any works or merit or life change or promises and then they are secure. The foundation of Christ's righteousness on our behalf, His death paying for all sin, past, present and future, and He arose proving God the father accepted His payment and that we will arise one day to if we simply trust in His blood for our salvation for heaven.
I use chick tracts because I know the definition of biblical repentance. Whenever someone asks me about the 'turn from your sins' stuff, I just tell them the truth. Repentance is simply a change of mind. Once that is clear, Chick Tracts can be used.

People don't go to hell for their sins. Jesus died for the sins of the world. That's the good news. Jesus is the Saviour. Not you and your selfrighteous sinful flesh. As you see from the comments the bible is so confusing that just about everyone has a different version of being saved. On another topic, eternity is a long time. What could you possibly do forever that would be paradise? People can get bored in less than a single day but eternity is not a single day, nor even a lot of days it is a never ending number of days. I think you are making repent harder to understand. Repent does mean to change one's mind. But it also means to be sorry for one's sins too, as compared to being sorry one got caught (not true repentance). If we don't have the exact wording down pat, but we ask God to forgive us of our sins, that is okay. There's nothing wrong with admitting we are sinners when we come to Christ, it just proves we are sorry for our sins. I do get the impression that you seem to be saying all we need to do to get saved is to believe in Jesus only. Romans 10:9-10 involves confessing with our mouth Jesus is Lord, and v. 13 involves calling upon Jesus to save us. This is more than just believing who Jesus is. The thief on the cross... before he called upon Jesus to remember him, he first admitted that he & the other thief had done wrong. And the publican and sinner... The sinner was so sorry for his sin that he couldn't even raise his head up to heaven, but prayed: "Lord be merciful [be propitiated] to me a sinner." So in both cases, whether before a prayer to Jesus or during a prayer to Jesus, wrong doing/sin is acknowledged. But I do see what Ray & Kirk are making people think, and that is wrong on their part. I also see the same error(s) in the Chick tracts. I think I now have a total grasp on what Lordship salvation is. I had no idea Ray & Kirk had worked with Glenn Beck. It was very telling about what Kirk left out of his 'testimony'. That disappoints me so much. Any true Christian I know would have dwelt upon what Jesus did for them, from the moment of receiving salvation to their present daily Christian life, how their Christian life is different because of Jesus in their life. I never realy ever totally stopped all sinning. But I have understood when I walk in the spirit I do not fulfill fleshly lusts. I did stop any desire to smoke pot, get drunk . I am shurly afraid to blatantly find a woman to have sex with her .as I fear God that i dont want punishment for that sin. Some sins i do still struggle with everyday almost . Its only when i am in the spirit that i am not sinning. I understand repentance as acknowledging our sins an seeking, maybee turning is not the right word but we trust Gods way to find fulfillment. Read it in context and find out. See if the text is talking about being saved by repenting of our sins when we accept Christ. Or if it's talking about Pharisees who claimed to keep the law to the smallest detail while openly sinning against the law.

Repentance is part of salvation. 2 Cor 7.10: "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death." Acts 20.21: "Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ." Repentance is not a work. It is true judgement of ourselves before God. Repentance, belief, and faith go together. Repentance cannot be separated from salvation.

Didn't John the baptist call people to repentance. To acknowledge they are sinners and want to change their ways. Then recieve the baptism of the holy spirit.

John the Baptist called the Jews to repentance via a washing (as ritual washing was common in their culture), one final washing unto repentance. For us gentiles what is important is the spiritual washing from the pure water of God's word. Repentance, then ask forgiveness of sins, then washed clean in the word. A bride prepared and washed (like Jewish brides were) ready for the wedding. I'mm not against people getting water baptised. I just think we put too heavy emphasis on the water. Water baptism is a picture of the real thing.
I went before God, repented for my sins and said I believed Jesus died and rose on the third day. Then I felt the holy spirit change me and all I felt was love and peace. My eyes welled up and I was appologising for running from him my whole life. It dawned on my the sins I had committed in my life. I didn't even know what it was I was experiencing at the time as I wasn't religious. I don't think these bible tracts are works based salvation. What you are doing crossing out all those words from the tract is telling people that no repentance is required.

John the Baptist was before the Cross. He lived under the law. So, of course was telling people under the law to repent and turn back to God, which was the message of the law. However, after Christ came, died on the cross, and rose again, the Old Covenant ended. Living in this new era, called the Age of Grace, all that is needed is to realize that you are a sinner in need of Christ, to recognize that he loved you, died on the cross for your sins, and rose again. Once you believe that by calling upon him to save you, you will be saved as promised in Romans 10:9-13. Very simple.

People love to quote John 3:16 but forget to read the rest of the chapter that reveals what Jesus says it means to genuinely believe in Jesus, that He commands all turn from darkness and step into the light of Christ to be saved!

So by definition you have not truely repented of your sins, while there also is nowhere in scripture (our King James 1611 Bible) that even uses the phrase "repent of sins". Godly Sorrow comes to those that believe, but you don't stop sinning. I John 1:8 "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." The Gospel of John tells you to BELIEVE 85 times and not one time is the word 'repent' is used. Because Believing is repenting and repenting is believing. Even though I agree with some of what you say I still believe there are many people have come to know Jesus Christ is our savior from Reading Trick Tracks. What does "Jesus being enough" mean to you. That you can continue in wilful sin if you like and still expect to remain in the faith? For example. Telling the world you are a Christian. The bible clearly says no drunkard will enter heaven. Yet you continue to get drunk every weekend, just a general example, I don't know you personally. Do you think God will be mocked like that, especially when once we are born again we are given victory over the enemy, God can break all our chains. He didn't save us to remain in our sins. We should walk in victory, and before anyone say it. That doesn't mean sinless perfection, trusting our own works. It means we have faith, we believe what the bible says and we follow Jesus. That way is narrow. Also God's promises are conditional on us remaining in, abiding in Christ. We aren't doing that if we live in the flesh.

Repentance is not even in the ball park of works. Works involve things like helping a blind person cross the street. Belief itself would infer turning from sin. Calling repentance (which means turning from sin) works in any way, shape or form is beyond ludicrous. Willingness to turn from sin as an automatic component of what believing would entail is still completely under pure grace alone.
It actually is. The following verse shows how turning away from sins, feeling bad for them etc… is works and how God Himself repents from something. Not because He did something wrong (for He is holy) but because repentance simply means changing your mind.

Calling repentance works shocks me. The first words out of Peter's mouth to those gathered on the day of Pentecost after the tongues of fire fell, included the word "Repent" In Romans 6 we learn about the call to not continue in sin and in verse 6:22 we learn that the fruit of holiness results in eternal life. In Hebrews 12:14 we are warned that "without holiness, no one will see the Lord."

Remember, these steps are not an everyday thing after being Christian. They are for people that have yet to be Christian! Huge difference. Therefore:
1. Is correct.
2. Jesus did say "sin no more" and "take the log out of your own eye first" as well as repentance (to change).
3. Before you are saved, a person does need to believe that Jesus died for them. I guess they could have done better by adding in "for your sins." But they do add scripture source.
4. But this step includes confessing that Jesus IS your savior.
The reason this list appears confrontational is because people think they are face value scriptures. They are not. They are the authors advice backed up by scripture.
Also, the prayer is still acceptable. Because every Christian will be judged according to their work. Jesus is clear concerning you reap what you sow. That means that even though we have redemption in the blood of Christ, we still need to be willing to turn from sin. We have to continue to repent. This is a hard topic because it deals with "once saved, always saved."
But if Jesus Christ came, and you said "I've been baptized, I accepted Jesus as my savior, I have faith in him" it will show that you will be a LIAR if in the last day alive you still smoked and sinned.
Jesus will tell you to depart from him. Jesus said that no one can pluck out of his hands whom is saved (take from my hands). But what if a person chooses not to live in his faith? He was not plucked from eternal salvation, he chose to LOSE his eternal salvation. You can lose your grace if you do not put real faith into Jesus. Live in Christ. Dont just say you are saved by Christ.
When you mentioned the verse in ACTS...It is hard to believe in (Jesus) someone if you do not listen to what they tell you. People asked Jesus who will inherit the kingdom of heaven. Jesus told them "whomever does the will of the father." So what is the will of the father? To believe in the son. BUT It's hard to believe in someone if you do not listen to what they tell you. Jesus tells us to repent, to baptize, to be vigilant, that even your "faith" is dead without work. You cant just say you "believe in Jesus." You have to live in Christ. Show that you repent in your life and that you follow righteousness after being saved.

From the comments here: many are still stuck in their work for heaven false salvation. The simple interaction of Jesus and the lady brought to him by a bunch of me claiming she was caught in adultery. Jesus to be the perfect lamb of God had to live a sinless life. This was a bit of a pickle for him. But according to law she had to have 2 or more accusers. Jesus found a way to remove them and she was let go free. Telling hereto sin not more was a wise thing anyone would say. Just like if you were a parent and your child buns them self with the hot stove. You still tell them to not do that again, because it will hurt them. Yet if they do burn themselves again do you just walk away and say "I told you not to, so now I will leave you there to suffer". The work for heaven group today would have loved it, if Jesus would have joined those accusers and stoned that lady to death, and as a perfectly holy man he could have. Much of the teachings that Jesus did while here and what he did had to be perfect under the law to be the perfect sacrifice. Taking those experiences and applying them to every person that wants to be saved for heaven creates a work for heaven plan that no one can do. A person has to see Christ as their only savior apart from any works or merit or life change or promises and then they are secure. The foundation of Christ's righteousness on our behalf, His death paying for all sin, past, present and future, and He arose proving God the father accepted His payment and that we will arise one day to if we simply trust in His blood for our salvation for heaven.
I use chick tracts because I know the definition of biblical repentance. Whenever someone asks me about the 'turn from your sins' stuff, I just tell them the truth. Repentance is simply a change of mind. Once that is clear, Chick Tracts can be used.

Notice you don't see it say "Jesus isn't going to save sinners. " In fact, Jesus says he only came to save sinners. So you're in luck. That sinner is you. All you have to do is know you're on your way to hell and there's nothing YOU can do except to turn to Christ and accept his blood as payment for your sins. That's the only way you're going. Through Jesus.
All the people in hell are there because they broke God's moral law and they are sinners that refuse to turn from their sins and obey the conscience that God has given them. Jesus is the way out of hell not the reason why people go to hell.

As you see from the comments the bible is so confusing that just about everyone has a different version of being saved. On another topic, eternity is a long time. What could you possibly do forever that would be paradise? People can get bored in less than a single day but eternity is not a single day, nor even a lot of days it is a never ending number of days. Sounds pretty hellish to me.

You can believe all you want the demons believe and tremble. We are justified by works and not faith alone according to James. If you believe in Jesus and are still sinning your faith is dead you will be in hell you have God's word on that 1 Corinthians 6:9. Don't let the demonic doctrine of easy believism fool you Jesus said unless you repent you shall all likewise perish. We're saved by grace and not by works but a good tree willl bear good fruits. Eternity's a long time to be wrong stop sinning before it's too late.

I think you are making repent harder to understand. Repent does mean to change one's mind. But it also means to be sorry for one's sins too, as compared to being sorry one got caught (not true repentance). If we don't have the exact wording down pat, but we ask God to forgive us of our sins, that is okay. There's nothing wrong with admitting we are sinners when we come to Christ, it just proves we are sorry for our sins.
I do get the impression that you seem to be saying all we need to do to get saved is to believe in Jesus only. Romans 10:9-10 involves confessing with our mouth Jesus is Lord, and v. 13 involves calling upon Jesus to save us. This is more than just believing who Jesus is.
The thief on the cross... before he called upon Jesus to remember him, he first admitted that he & the other thief had done wrong. And the publican and sinner... The sinner was so sorry for his sin that he couldn't even raise his head up to heaven, but prayed: "Lord be merciful [be propitiated] to me a sinner." So in both cases, whether before a prayer to Jesus or during a prayer to Jesus, wrong doing/sin is acknowledged.
But I do see what Ray & Kirk are making people think, and that is wrong on their part. I also see the same error(s) in the Chick tracts. I think I now have a total grasp on what Lordship salvation is. I had no idea Ray & Kirk had worked with Glenn Beck. It was very telling about what Kirk left out of his 'testimony'. That disappoints me so much. Any true Christian I know would have dwelt upon what Jesus did for them, from the moment of receiving salvation to their present daily Christian life, how their Christian life is different because of Jesus in their life.
If we lead a person to Jesus, then we can explain to them that Jesus has imparted His nature/righteousness into their lives, and He will work in their heart to help them live a holy life to God from now on.
I never realy ever totally stopped all sinning. But I have understood when I walk in the spirit I do not fulfill fleshly lusts. I did stop any desire to smoke pot, get drunk . I am shurly afraid to blatantly find a woman to have sex with her .as I fear God that i dont want punishment for that sin. Some sins i do still struggle with everyday almost . Its only when i am in the spirit that i am not sinning. I understand repentance as acknowledging our sins an seeking, maybee turning is not the right word but we trust Gods way to find fulfillment. We do have to seek the Lord. We change our mind that what we want is not as great as what God wants for us.and choose Gods way because He knows what's ultimately fulfilling and good and rightly satisfying. But I agree we dont realy turn from sin cause we cant. It's always there. But we seek God and call upon Him. " and he shall save his people from there sins."

So I just have to believe that Jesus died for me and I am saved? Even though I continue sinning, for example killing people every day. if I do that every day, I am still saved? so I do not need to repent or recieved Jesus as my Lord.

Yes, all it is finished. But do you truly think Jesus did it for you? You will never be perfect, but JESUS did it for our sins. All you have to do is, to believe in Jesus that he did for us. He dead, buried and rose again on the 3rd day. Will you believe on Him?

Read it in context and find out. See if the text is talking about being saved by repenting of our sins when we accept Christ. Or if it's talking about Pharisees who claimed to keep the law to the smallest detail while openly sinning against the law.
Well Obviously God did use these tracts . He didnt have the last page right but the word of God in the tracts had its effect. I noticed that most american Christian's get it wrong about salvation.and repentance .Lean not on thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him for his direction.
