Something seems not right. You turned piston 1 to TDC and then rotated the camshafts? Aren't these interference engines? My car has an 1az engine. No way I can rotate the camshafts without ruining the valves if any piston is at TDC.
I have a 2008 Toyota Rav4 2.4 I’m loosing a quart of oil every 350-380 miles car has no smoke no check engine light it dose not shake or have trouble starting it runs really good. I’m so confused on what’s going on , I bought the car off a woman mid 20s only thing I noticed is it had a bad pcv valve and leaky valve cover gasket other than that no issues what do ever, I’m not a full fledged mechanic tho I do know if she been driving the car with a bad pcv it’s probably what caused the bad valve cover gasket blowing, do you think the seals blown as well? What’s your thoughts I know your not physically here to see it, but any advice we’re I can start maybe compression test? Should I just order a new cylinder head ? Or do you think it’s a piston ring issue ? Thanks man god bless

According to the instruction you starting torquing on bolt 10 and ended at bolt 1. Isn't that backwards?
You right it supposed to be tightened from middle

Hi, what size is the double hex bit for the headcam bolts? Manual says 10mm but I found 10mm is too small.

Thanks for comment,You should check for engine oil leaks first, maybe the oil pan or a seal leak, how many miles your car has traveled.
If there is an engine oil leak, fix it first
Mine is doing this too. It is burning oil but the cat is so good you dont see the smoke. Pistons need replaced
