ChainsawN&W1218, that jointed rail is still serving it's purpose, long lasting, long grainer with UP running long hood forward coupled pilot to pilot!👍🛤
The secret to this success was the line inspection truck that went through first. The truck is full of sensors that measures all the undulations in the line along with the condition of the line base. All that information is fed into whatever machine they used to relay the track and it corrects all the faults as it goes. They use very similar setups on roadways today so that pavers correct all the faults in the road surface and base as roads are resealed. There's no guesswork anymore as it's all automatic.
I believe NS added some ballast and major tie replacement from what I have seen. Now if the can align and tamp so it all comes together, then we'll see a difference. Nice vid RTS.
Now come on they were doing at least six miles an hour... lol I ask them when they were working if they would be able to increase there speed they said no the track is to light wait to go any faster.
@@therailroadtiespiker I have an obvious question, would it be expensive to upgrade the pound of rail? or is there not enough traffic/incentive? I honestly like that they've kept the rail. Though the speeds they slug at are hilarious.
Nice, a lot better than it was, guess you don't have to worry about them coming in the yard and visiting you now. Love the UP EMD and its horn. Guess the Suburban driver doesn't think that his headlights and light var need to be on. Great video, thanks for the update.
Also very rare to get an SD70AH-T4 running in reverse over crossings, those Nathan K2s are certainly something! Also, UP 3000 is the first AH-T4 for the UP
They go to Marion Indiana then usually South down through Cincinnati not sure after that. We can see up to 3 Grain train a week and TP&W trains 2 to 3 a week.
Watch some of my older videos of the trains going down the street run they rocked pretty bad they replaced about 80% of the ties on this stretch of track.
It should be for the traffic it gets but you know railroad and capitalism they don't want to put anymore money back into the company then they need to.
" newly done tracks" - You must be kidding. It doesn't look like anything happened there except throwing down a bit of gravel. If this is a successful maintanance for you, then I'm not surprised anymore.....
You need to watch my videos on the track being redone the crew has spent about a month rebuild the track. Thanks for watching and leaving me a comment.
I saw this train at the yard in Marion. Whatever they fixed made a world of difference.
Awesome catch and video. Thanks for posting..
Thank you Fogdan

Nice vid RTS.
They have the tamper in Vermont not sure when they'll use it. TP&W did all the track work.
Thats like a Norman Rockwell ideal Train Fan Neighborhood😁
Yes it is
Running alot smoother now!👍
Yes it is
All they need now new railroad crossings each street
Yes they only have flashing lights at the main road
I bet that crew is loving this 😂
Yes no more spelling their drinks...😁😁😁
7:03 It’s like it changes from a K5HLL to a K5LA, it’s so amazing.
I noticed that when it went through Vermont Indiana check out my other video of it.
UP is a great starter for the first train!
Yes and long hood forward
Wow! That's the smoothest 5mph pass I've ever seen...
Now come on they were doing at least six miles an hour... lol I ask them when they were working if they would be able to increase there speed they said no the track is to light wait to go any faster.

@@therailfanningskeleton359 they do the slow speed because of the light rail
@@therailroadtiespiker I meant as in if they would replace it with heavy/welded rail.
I asked when they were redoing the track and they said no.
Awesome video
Thank you Celio

I never saw one up close thought it was really cool.
Why do they run in reveres ?
@@thebowieman621 great question but I think it had something to do with the second locomotive wasn't on line.
Hey no more rocking and rolling lol , good video
Thank you Dan. Yes I was actually surprised how much of a difference there is.
Cool video, I like that UP SD70AH-T4 and those weird tracks that go so close to the road! Im surprised this isn't a QZ.
Did you notice the horns were on the back of the long hood on the SD70AH
@@therailroadtiespiker No I didn't notice that, cool!
@@BNSF1458 I relieved it when he blew the horn when he was at the crossing I was at WOW it about blew me over. Lol
lookin good!
Beautiful horn
Yes it was
I noticed the UP hauling the freight was running with long hood front and No ditch lights on
Yes you're right not sure if they would be able to do that out on a class 1 main line.
A little tamping goes a long way
Can't beat an American freight train. Our little Bitish goods trains are so tiny in comparison!
Yes between Australia freight trains and hours I'm not sure whose is bigger. Lol
Gr8 video, rail seems to be light guage
yes that's the reason of them going so slow
Might have been able to tell it was rocking if the camera was still.
I have a tripod now lol
I would kill to have a custom vehicle that can be driven on rr tracks.
Cool 😎 and it only took them how long?
Years and a derailment
Nice
Thank you Phillip
How many Trains on Average per day? Is this the TP&W from Peoria Illinois?
One maybe two local trains a day and the usually one grain train a week.
No more shutters and shakes
Yesss
Definitely don't want trains rocking back and forth.
It's ok to have a little rocking you just don't want a group of cars rocking the same direction that's when it gets messy.
Is this part of train tracks through Kokomo considered for any doubletracking?
No the rails wouldn't be strong enough I wouldn't think.
No red light on the last wagon?
I've seen that quite often on this line
What does "newly done" mean? Repaired? Replaced? Re-ballasted?
All of the above check out my video I took of them replacing the ties. Thanks for watching
Where does that grain train go to? How many trains use that line?
They go to Marion Indiana then usually South down through Cincinnati not sure after that. We can see up to 3 Grain train a week and TP&W trains 2 to 3 a week.
@@therailroadtiespiker thank. Huge G&W fan. Live near the original in NY
i can't see the difference seems fine the whole way through
Watch some of my older videos of the trains going down the street run they rocked pretty bad they replaced about 80% of the ties on this stretch of track.
Long hood first! Nose to Nose....do you know why the locos were like that?
I heard on the radio they were having trouble with one of the locomotives not sure which one it was.
@@therailroadtiespiker Ahh,that would explain the Nose to Nose. Just hope the Engineer didn't have desktop controls :-D
Thanks for that
@@bnrailfannz8262 now that you say that I think that might have been the problem.
@@therailroadtiespiker oh really? Now that's making a statement ! 🤣
I didn't expect to see big 6 axle locos on such crappy track.
We see them all the time here in Kokomo.
Why was the crossing talking
They run the gates from remote at the Davis road crossing.
Jointed rail. Should be welded.
