  • Exploring Microfreak 5.0 (A Few Answered Questions)
    Today I wanted to answer a few questions I've gotten about the Microfreak 5.0 firmware update, which will be available May 30th. Unfortunately, I didn't record my microphone channel, so all of the spoken audio in this video is from my camera's built in microphone, less than ideal. Sorry about that, it'll be back to normal in the next video!

    Can’t wait to add some randomization to the filter on each individual key press. I love modulating the filter per step. I love doing it to my hardware synths with my SQ 64

    I think for me, the first thing I’ll do is hook the chase bliss Mood to it to slice the grains thru that then resample into the mk2. This is exactly what I needed! I have a few granular synths on the iPad but this will be more fun! Lol great video, it was useful to me, the only difference is I’ll do what you did with a granular oscillator instead of a sample. Ty, Peace

    It looks like a few of your keys are rubbing bare, does this affect usage at all?

    • @annother3350

      The contacts on the keys are a metal mesh so its fine

      Thanks haha, it wasn't awful but definitely not up to my normal quality. (which still isn't amazing hahaha)

    Since the LFO is bipolar, setting the parameter you’re modulating to the midpoint (like, select the middle sample in the list), it will work better. If you’re on sample 1, it will stay on sample 1 during half the LFO cycle.
    On a different topic, are you going to get the new Roland Aira Compact S-1?

    • @J1M0TEE
      @J1M0TEE ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This ^
      Choose the sample in the middle of the list as the starting point to modulate from, then turn down the LFO mod depth to something lower, like 10 for example (and experiment) - that should move through the different samples really nicely👌🏼
      Can't wait to get my hands on the new firmware!

    I was think for sample selection modulation you could use it for drum kits.

    I've noticed your keys are a little worn - do they still function normally? Unsure if the pattern is cosmetic or part of the capacitive functionality.

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's just cosmetic :)

    I'm guessing you can't, but can you modulate the sample selection with the sequencer mod tracks?

    • @annother3350
      @annother3350 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yes, the sample selection can mod to any place any other knob can be modded to

    Don't have a Microfreak though just succumbed to GAS and picked up a Circuit Rhythm my first beatbox/sampler (other than a couple of PO's). So have watched lots of videos about it though finding they don't cover every function and as such I'm trying to learn by use lol. know you had a Circuit Tracks and the workflow was not for you, hopeful the Rhythm will work for me.

    It's good to hear that the LFO is bipolar. Just like my high school girlfriend.
