That is SOOO HARD TO DECIDE!!! (Probably Election Nite from my own band hehe) This amp can probably go from Bad Co to PANTERA in like 4.3 seconds! It will FULL ON be part of my home studio soon
10:01 Nick's "primitive" rhythm playing is, so far, the only online demo I've seen that really makes this amp sound like a metal monster. Great work, Sir.
Very impressed how it can get heavy tones along with classic rcok tones and the clean is very impressive too. My favorite Mesa to date. I bet they will sell a shitload of these. I'm def getting one. I have always been an EL34 guy and this one just sounds great.
A big string slide and gigantic “A” chord on the nut, of course! Apparently, the Recto design was originally intended as Mesa’s modified Marshall offering during the 1980’s metal market, but it’s slow development cycle missed that window, and the design was subsequently modified to suit the emerging dominate grunge movement of the 1990’s. I wonder if this EL-34 Badlander model Recto is the belated result of that original intention and product, where Mesa now enjoys the matured business ability to indulge loose ends, and finally bring a legacy project to market. For some reason, probably because of the role of Boomers within the neoliberal period, I think the 1980’s is a decade that is going to retain historical significance.
To me this amp is right in between two other possibly better choices. For a little more money ($250) you can get a Mark V, which has many more tonal abilities, reverb, the 5 band slider EQ, 6l6 or EL34 option and three channels. Then, if you don't need a 50/100 watts, for several hundred less ($700 less) you can get the Mark v 25, which has about the same options as this. Of course the mark 5 25 uses EL84s, so unless EL34s are a must...
NICK! You're the man. This amp, while far beyond anything I could afford, seems like just what the doctor ordered for a touring rock player. When that happens again, which I hope will be soon.
Thanks God at somewhere 11min. Don Carr showed the Amp with some real sounds that I couldn't find on internet - everyone just slams trash deep full metal brutal with no real clean or crunch sounds - no musical showing ... Thanks Don !!!
Both of you killed it on this! F'ing rocked it Nick! Pay no mind to the whiners below! Last I checked this is still AMERICA, where we can choose whatever we want to play. Love it and keep it up!
Nick Thanks ….Your style is my style .now I know I want that amp thank you for playing that amp all the players are great But after hearing you play it Answers All my ???!?
Interesting comment. I was gonna go for a JCM800 but then the badlander came out and now I’m wondering if I should just forget about the JCM800 and go with the badlander :)
Hey, Sweetwater, I get that this is produced for use across social media platforms, and this hits like an Instagram targeted product, but at the @10:00 mark about, I don't see the "Link in Bio" for the video of the stand alone CabClone IR unit. It might be good to include a clickable link for that in the video's description, as well as having a pop-up link at that moment. And if you're hiring for social media production or editing, let me know where I can send my application!
Hi, mazklassa9338. The Badlander’s highest impedance output is 8 ohm. That said, you can run a higher impedance cab without issue. You’ll likely notice a small decrease in volume and top end presence but it won’t hurt the amp. Thanks for your interest! These sound too brittle and harsh. This nu djent young players obsession with “clarity” keeps going too far and sacrificing real tone and power and character/personality. 90’s 2ch Dual Rectifier is far superior 😎🤘🏻
Would rather have a Boss Nextone Special than having to deal with the expensive high maintenance of a tube amp that weighs a ton. Let's face it, The chances of a plethora of garage bands making it to "arena band" fame is highly unlikely regardless of the level of talent. Marketing "big bad amps" is purely foolishness. I gigged for 50 years. My amps kept getting smaller. A Deluxe Reverb was my go to amp. Now my amps use "Tube Logic" and you can keep your EL34/6L6 amps.
David Bennett, the gigging musician is not the only demographic this amp is aimed at. There’s a massive sub-culture of non gigging recording guitarists who don’t care what an amp weighs. We care what it sounds like. “Tube Logic” will ever get the Recto/Diezel/Marshall sound or feel. Which is why tube amps will never go away. Amp modeling is great and has its place but it will never replace a real tube amp with real pedals in an analog signal chain. Modelers are an accompaniment to real amps, not a replacement. Your opinion of Mesa’s marketing being foolish just shows how narrow minded you are and how you don’t have a clue who’s actually buying these amps.
Everyone arguing over opinion, without a doubt, remains in the neurosis/shadowing domain. The lack of QC with today's tube is a good reason enough not using them anymore ( I know a guitar tech who has the same tubes in his marshall's since the 70's and still having unpacked tubes from same era). For low-mid gain use with feel and sag close enough to tube tone worth going for the Nextone with a good Type S guitar. The Mesa rectifier still needs the bias mod so you can choose your own tubes. EL34 for rectifier is a good idea though. I always loved this amp. Truth is most of high end modern amp are awesome. Being from 80's/90's era when we didn't have that much choice or info on internet, I think it's a good idea to buy an amp that can cover it all. Single CH or boutique that's is 85% of your wet dream worth the investment so you keep it for life. Ps.: btw, avoid Nextone Stage which is a waste of money for the lack of lows and headroom ( especially if you like to play with guitars volume) go for 80 watters instead.
What's the first riff you'd play with this fire-breathing Rectifier Badlander? Subscribe to our channel for more heavy-hitting amps like this one!
I couldn't call myself a Soundgarden fan if I didn't lead with Spoonman!
My riffs! The only thing I ever play.
That is SOOO HARD TO DECIDE!!! (Probably Election Nite from my own band hehe) This amp can probably go from Bad Co to PANTERA in like 4.3 seconds! It will FULL ON be part of my home studio soon
Probably Enter Sandman or something else with chugging and down picking.
Minstrel in the Gallery.
Nick, you almost reached a new level of confidence and power at 10:01 ...almost.
I doubt he got that.
Far beyond close!!!
Amazing job promoting this amp, Mesa should send these guys to the Bahamas
With those shirts? Maybe Seattle?

10:01 = Dude, that sounds INSANE! Awesome metal tone here.
I was expecting das rock riffs but didn’t see some sick ass shred and riffage from the old geezer. Now that’s how you demo a dual rectifier
That playing demo was so sick

Great demo guys!
I just got mine today and unboxed it on my channel. This thing is a tone machine! I’m really digging it!

Great sounding Recto!!
Great job on showing the versatility of this amp.
Maybe next time you guys and and Mitch could wear matching Mariachi outfits.
These guys are ready for a fusion dance
Great stuff Nick!
I wanna see a 150 watt version with built in boost (Gridslammer, or similar) and gate. Thanks! :)

Great job guys!
Hey Sweetwater how do I go about getting a Gibson-made Epiphone Crestwood Custom???
Glad that I dumped my jcm 800. Mesa amps sing 🐕🎸
Interesting comment. I was gonna go for a JCM800 but then the badlander came out and now I’m wondering if I should just forget about the JCM800 and go with the badlander :)
Just wondering if you have to change the tubes before you throw the bias switch to 6L6 mode. John.
Looks like a killer amp 👍👍😯😯
So you can safely run this head with no cabinet?
I hope it has the shining classic crown panel.
How "spongy" will this amp get when set to 50 watts...and on on Variac? Similar to Marks etc?
So is the IR Cab Clone in this amp the new IR+ or is it the old? I've heard the new version of the IR cab clone is great but the old one not so much.
Great we now have the Sweetwater Bobsy twins
How’s the build quality?
When will these be shipping?
I'm sorry but how much do these cost?
Get me some 36 month financing and I am in
Hey Nick! I wanna hear you play some “ Rock you to Hell”!!!
How much for this head! I'm tired of searching for it, what's your price? ty

@@sweetwater thank you so much for your advice it's much appreciated 👏
You mean: The Baldlander ;)
Anyone need a new lung of 52 years old? I need a new amplifier.
Not off hand, but I'll ask around..✌
rather use the stevie t rectalfier
Those two are not friends
They don't have to

at this point Mitch needs to stopped. when will the madness end.
Old dudes demoing new gear just doesn't do it. Sorry, fellas. YAWN.

In the same boat. I have the nextone artist. It sounds so close that a few good pedals is all you need
