    Long an admirer, I'd been wondering when Janus would start punching up into that more "generally usable" mid-range segment that could get onto a modern highway from time to time without too much drama. That's a real pretty motorcycle, but also a real motorcycle at last. Congrats!

      Why would JMC do that? Other bike makers do that well and better than Janus MC. Much like ROKR bikes, these bikes fit a niche sub culture of the bike community.

    • @anthonyintrieri3329
      @anthonyintrieri3329 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Why would JMC do that? Why not. Alot of people like the style, and being able to cruise on extended rides might help with their decision . I didn't get mine to fit in a niche or sub- culture, i just love to ride. Is there a 450 Phoenix in the works ?.....hint😎

    I just discovered your bike from an advertisement online. My dad has been a long time Harley rider and have always tried to get me behind the bars, but I could never afford a Harley. This bike is EXACTLY what love in a motorcycle! I will definitely be an owner hopefully soon! The best part is I only live 3 hours from your HQ!

    Fantastic looking bike. I dream of rolling down the back country roads on an old school looking machine. And I often do roll down those roads on a 2001 Yamaha road star 1600 for 9k less. Can't imagine the hurdles Janus has to jump through to put this bike on the road. I truly hope a Janus motorcycle is in my future.

    Shineray is an excellent engine manufacturer!
    I actually did a Shineray 250cc engine swap on my 1972 Honda CB100. It's basically a 250cc OHC Honda clone..
    I believe you guys use the 250cc OHV "pushrod" Honda clone on your smaller bikes. I've admired your bikes for quite a while! The design is beautiful and timeless. I hope to own one soon.
    The 450cc is one SEXY machine! Great job!! 👍

    The Halcyon 450 is a beautiful looking, lightweight no nonsense bike. I previously owned a Honda XR250 that was bored and stroked to a 300 and loved the torque and reliability of the motor. Best offroad bike I ever owned and wish I still had it.

      I agree completely. I've always wanted a bike from the 30s but also knew it would be a little complicated and unreliable to drive regularly ( hand shifting monitoring the oil process etc etc ) and was seriously considering the 250. However, I was seriously concerned how the 250 would perform with my 200 lb body weight and climbing and breaking in the steep hills of the Ozarks.
      Now with a 450 I am all in. Just got to start budgeting for it now.
      I just wish all of their bikes would have an option to not have a glossy black engine. I would love it to Patina and look even more old school.

    I’m glad you made a 450 instead of the 250. It’s just the prices I have problems with. You guys are making a beautiful bike here in the USA though, I wish you could offer the 250 at a much more competitive price, though I do understand it is more expensive to make a motorcycle here domestically. I really wish you guys well and hope you guys are still in business for another few decades and become more known to potential buyers here. I have 10yrs experience riding though havnt had a bike in a while and wanted to get a bike around 500cc to commute as a daily rider that was a nice bike. Well I can always hope. Wishing you guys the best of luck and my compliments on creating such a iconic looking and reliable motorcycle

    • @benjamintemple3607
      @benjamintemple3607 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@autonomousindividual7780 when I hear 2 gallons I was wondering what the range would be. I do agree I'd probably not be making long road trips but who knows because it has rear suspension, a good seat, 90+ miles per hour capability. It might turn out that I'd spend a full day on it. It's not uncommon for me to be in the saddle for 8 to 10 hours on a Saturday in the summer. I'll leave the house at dawn and return when it's dark. If this bike is comfortable and capable I could see me doing that with it as it is a very beautiful bike and probably fun to ride. If it gets 60 or so miles to the gallon that 120 miles max. Fill up every 100 miles that's not to bad.

    • @frankmarkovcijr5459
      @frankmarkovcijr5459 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benjamintemple3607 I just saw your comment. Just because something can run 90 Mi an hour supposedly does it mean it can do that all day especially in the summer. I've seen your videos where major damage is happens with hot motors from the fuel injection and lean mixtures resulted in engines cooking themselves. And then they tell people owe the magazine said I could go 80 miles an hour it did until it spun a bearing in the crankcase. My BSA 250 can supposedly reach 90 Mi an hour. But I don't think the motor would last long at that speed, that would be pushing it. For the money they are charging I think they should have a bigger prettier engine that won't explode if you take it on the highway for a couple hours.

    It needs a sidecar as an optional accessory. It has the look of bike's that were fitted with sidecars and lucky you it has 18" tires front and back so it can have a 18" sidecar wheel too. All three tire's can be the same size. For that really classic look a spare tire mounted on the sidecar would be a functional accessory too. It would also appeal to older rider's that don't really want a trike but need the stability a sidecar offers. Last but not least is just how much fun a sidecar motorcycle is. I have and ride a Dnepr MT-11 sidecar motorcycle and love it. It's the most fun motorcycle I've ever owned. The Dnepr is the military version of Ural motorcycles. Speaking of Ural, they sell sidecar motorcycles here in the USA and are very popular despite bad press resulting from the old Soviet Union day's.

    The only thing I would like to see on the 250 as well as the 450 that to my knowledge you have never done.
    I would like to see the motors without that glossy black.
    I would personally like to have it patina just like in the 30s.
    To give it that truly old school look.
    I think the glossy black makes it stand out like a sore thumb.
    I think if it was left natural and slowly patina. It would truly have people scratching their heads and wondering if it was an old bike or not.
    I don't no but I would think that the manufacturer of the motor could deliver that option because it would be one less step in the process and possibly make it even cheaper.

    An absolutly spectacular retro beauty
    ...that costs twice as much as an Enfield
    ...with a smaller engine

      The 500 is no longer imported. It has a bigger engine but less horsepower. The brakes are iffy. I have a 500 Classic. I love it. The vibration makes it impossible to ride for more than an hour on the freeway... so I use it for short rides only. It has proven to be a fun ride and I love the retro look. The Janus looks like a serious upgrade in quality. This engine is counter balanced. I have ordered a 450, I probably won't see it until next summer.

    That front suspension, added power, braking improvement is just screaming for a sidecar. Ural is probably your only competition in the price range.

    Smallish fuel tank. MPG?
    Offer some type of auxiliary tank/ rotopack similar to the Himalayan?
    Did you mention how many gears?
    Will you create a scrambler version?
    You didn't start it up!!!! We must hear it!
    YES, you MUST offer a unit to Jay Leno to demonstrate!
    Warranty?
    Thanks for your consideration.

    The bike is beautiful. The motor looks a bit like the new Royal Enfield 650 cc parallel twins (hint, hint...) which would be nice. One would hope that the oil lines would be secured with something better than hose clamps; I have them on my old BSA A65, and they're always coming loose and leaking, a victim of vibration no doubt. Any idea on price yet?

    This bike needs a larger fuel tank. Period. 2.5 gallons is simply not enough now that it has suspension on both ends and the extra torque and power. One can travel with this thing only to be stymied by limited range.

    I have a question? I'm not much of a fan of the cylinder heads with billets or polished cooling channels like these on this 450cc engine.... is that a custom option? I'm very Entertained by the looks and designs of this motorcycle! If I may be intrusive, the wheel "nut" to mount on forks would look better with a Stainless Acorn nut instead.... just my thoughts!

    Do you think you guys will ever utilize the 650cc version of this engine? I can see you guys building a kickass retro bike like a 60’s triumph or Yamaha xs650.

    No doubt it is a beautiful bike but in a longevity wear & tier where can we take the bike to get it fix back to specs ? Can a regular motorcycle shop would be able to fix the bike ?
