There’d never been anyone before in the NBA that had Bradley’s coordination and athleticism at his size. I can see why people saw as much potential in him as they did. It’s unfortunate the super bigs like him Yao or Murresan all tend to be crippled with knee injuries.
I'm still surprised Ed O'Bannon was a washout in the NBA, it doesn't make any sense. Guy had an awesome career at UCLA and was the main guy on a National Championship Team. Cool video.
You know if Bradley had played for Majerus instead of Roger Reid and returned after his mission - he would have been amazing. Prayers to SB and his family!
Yeah, that is really sad. And both actually played each other before this in a1989 Christmas time tournament in Raleigh NC that was won by Durham Hillside, Rogers school.
@Majesticon Jamal was an awesome player, they should have put him in this game over a couple of players.I think all the scuttlebutt at the time was on the Tolentine guys, Brian Reese, and Adrian Autry.Yeah, Jamal belonged in this game.
@Belburg: Don't know about that. Shawn Bradley seemed to get about as much he had out of his talent. Poor guy was so hyped for his height that people forgot to pay attention to how well he actually played. If he was even 6-8 inches shorter he never would've been in the NBA.
@thecee20 @whkoff839 Check your record books. DB won more games at IU than any other Hoosier on record. And when he was in HS, he tooke Penny, Rodney, Grant, Webber, and all for 5 AAU MVP's at Nationals. Don't even tell me he couldn't play with those guys. Those guys couldn't play with him back then.
NYC had five guys in this game with Red Autry, Brian Reese,Khalid Reeves, Derrick Phelps and Anthony Cade who was considered the best out of the group. Jamal Mashburn should of also made it but he was sort of a late bloomer.
It's a real shame Anthony Cade was functionally illiterate, that guy could play. I remember seeing him at Oak Hill Academy and he was unreal, I don't even think he ever enrolled at Louisville, I know he never suited up. I don't mean to bag on the guy for his academic struggles, it's sad.
@@colecarter973 Too bad, I would have liked to see him play for the UofL. Kind of reminds me of Jerome Harmon in a way but at least he played 1 season.
@Belburg: Definitely agree with that. The biggest players are ironically usually the most fragile and need the most time, work and help developing into contributing forces. Part of it is simply that human beings usually aren't meant to be 7 and a half feet so it causes all sorts of complications and makes them so injury prone when they are. Also, these guys usually aren't the elite athletes most NBA players are. Only a handful of people on Earth are that big so there's less of a "talent pool".
There were alot of really good players in NYC alone that came out that yr that were not in this game.. ie. ROB PHELPS (PROVIDENCE) SHANELLE SCOTT (ST. JOHNS) RICH ASHMEDE (UCONN). I wont even talk about NORMAN MARBURY (STEPHS OLDER BROTHER). A BEAR! 6,5..COULD SHOOT, RUN, JUMP OUT THE GYM! The thing about Mash, is that he was voted Mr. basketball of NYS that yr! Go figure. I heard the mcdonald committee sent him an apology letter for not selecting him. He had a good NBA Career! 19.1 avg 12 yrs.
Luther Wright didn't even play a full season with Utah Jazz because he developed mental health problems and his career ended before it began but luckily as per his contract he was paid $153K/year for the next 25 years..
@wykoff839 Seriously, Damon couldn't hold a cord to Anfernee Hardaway, Grant Hill, or Rodney Rogers, all who were in his class. He was good to a point, but is arguably the most overrated prep player ever.
Belburg : Damon Bailey and Billy Owens we’re BOTH overrated asf, as was Felipe Lopez. The most underrated? Allen Iverson...wasn’t even a McDonald’s All-American but was lock for the NBA HoF by his 5th season.
Damon Bailey is still the all time leading scorer in Indiana high school basketball history. There have been some great players that have come out of the Indiana since he set the record in 1990. Mike Conley Jr, Greg Oden, Eric Gordon, Glenn Robinson, Gary Harris etc... none of them came close to doing what Damon Bailey did in high school. He is 6th all time in scoring at IU as well. Nothing overrated about Damon. Honestly shocked that Eric Gordon didn’t break his record and he’s not really close statistically. He was absolutely unstoppable in high school!
Don't be silly. The first super recruit EVER and that was before any social media hype. He won more games at IU than any player EVER. Injury stopped his NBA career. Played in front of 40,000 + people in the IN state championship.
O’bannon. Couldn’t make money in the NBA so he sued EA sports. And ruined one of the best games ever. Dude is a joke. Dude is one of those people every one hates.
Rodney Rogers was an athlete back in the day. Who would have thought it.
There’d never been anyone before in the NBA that had Bradley’s coordination and athleticism at his size. I can see why people saw as much potential in him as they did. It’s unfortunate the super bigs like him Yao or Murresan all tend to be crippled with knee injuries.
We was the number 1 team in the nation this year in high school 1990 king high school from Chicago il give us our respect thank you!
I'm still surprised Ed O'Bannon was a washout in the NBA, it doesn't make any sense. Guy had an awesome career at UCLA and was the main guy on a National Championship Team. Cool video.
o'bannon and hill on the same team thing of beauty
You know if Bradley had played for Majerus instead of Roger Reid and returned after his mission - he would have been amazing. Prayers to SB and his family!
Rodney Rogers in a dirt bike accident and now Shawn Bradley in a bicycle accident both paralyzed.
Yeah, that is really sad. And both actually played each other before this in a1989 Christmas time tournament in Raleigh NC that was won by Durham Hillside, Rogers school.
It crazy to see them all play before NBA or over seas got them
Shawn Bradley... been a beast like always
He was also sporting a cool Mullet! Viva Le Mullet!
Bradley only had a block and a rebound in the highlight video, but was the MVP for the West. Talk about horrible editing!
@Majesticon Jamal was an awesome player, they should have put him in this game over a couple of players.I think all the scuttlebutt at the time was on the Tolentine guys, Brian Reese, and Adrian Autry.Yeah, Jamal belonged in this game.
These guys are all pushing 40/40+ now man. Time flies whew...
Shawn Bradley showed good potential in this game, probably with three years in college, could have done some amazing things on the court.
Name the other centers in the NBA when Bradley played. Then smack yourself for being ignorant.
@@KQwest98 You smack yourself for being ignorant. He had talent.
Damon Bailey best Indiana high school player ever
Nah the "hick from French lick was"
Um, Oscar Robertson anyone?
Rodney Roger 360 over 3 people are you for real baby?!
@Belburg:
Don't know about that. Shawn Bradley seemed to get about as much he had out of his talent. Poor guy was so hyped for his height that people forgot to pay attention to how well he actually played. If he was even 6-8 inches shorter he never would've been in the NBA.
@Belburg yep. also, jamal mashburn was in this class, too
whoa look at rodney rogers getting up. I don't think I ever saw him dunk in the nba
lol
He was a monster dunker in college also but was used more on the perimeter in the NBA
4:02 Anthony Cade is another guy who could’ve been a beast in college & the NBA if he kept his head in the game. Kinda reminded me of Shawn Kemp..
I remember being at this game wow
Rodney got robbed in the slam dunk competition.

Yeah, but Mashburn was Mr. basketball for the state of NY.

LOL @ 3:53 old episode of Cheer's .
So why couldn’t you upload the full game?
Rodney Rodgers was the first coming of Zion Williamson...
@narisanerd ARguably second or third to 1991 and 1988

The high school achievements of Bailey cannot be refuted. Nothing overrated about it.

@narisanerd nah, you wanna look at '79 or '88
Everybody BUT the players make money. Wtf is up with that??
@zyxwut321 That's a pretty solid statement. However, spending a couple of years in Mormon mission didn't help his career.
Still remember Ed O Bannon lead Duke...
UCLA
Done some things, yeah, like; gone on some more missionary work, and pissing people off by knocking on their door. LOL
The funniest part was ummm who was Darren Hancock? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@Jerrod P & what's playing in front of 40k got to do with it?
best mcdonalds talent ever....

Shawn Bradley......another wasted talent.Another year at BYU, and he would've done some things.
