Let me educate you a little, as a born and bred Scouse who still lives in the City. Our fanbase is global. It's called being a big club.
It is overwhelmingly local Reds that boo the national anthem, not those who come from further afield. Why? A number of reasons. One being the political party of the establishment in this country decimated our city under Thatcher. We fought back, and the establishment never forgave. Secondly, the establishment lied and lied over the Hillsborough disaster, blaming the victims for their own tragic deaths. They did so to cover their own backs and the backs of their friends in high places. We fought back and exposed them. They never forgave.
In England, if you stand up for yourself the establishment tries to crush you. Look what they did to the miners. Remember Orgreave? Honest working people attacked and beaten by police for trying to protect their communities, livelihoods and families from Thatcher and her disgusting ideology.
Well sorry. No. We won't bow down and lick the boots of a privileged establishment. We won't sing its awful anthem either.
If you could only bother educating yourself rather than getting your education from the right-wing gutter press then you might just understand.
Oh, and just to clarify. We don't hate this country. We just hate significant aspects of its culture. The country is beautiful. Some of its culture is rancid, particularly how the rich and powerful treat the rest of the citizens.
