for those who don't know, palossand's japanese name translates to something like "that's sand, huh?" hence korone's reaction to finding out its name. the pun is universal
it's a double layered name since it's name is シロデスナ and you can read it as 城(shiro=castle)ですな which means "that's a castle, huh?" and also as 城で砂 (shiro de suna) which means "castle made of sand"

Every time I think of the Sandygast line of Pokemon, all I can see is that one picture of a Pikachu being devoured by a Palossand. Ironically, it's pictures like that that made me really want a new Pokemon Snap game.

Tbf that's every ghost type in existence. The entire litwick line burns life force to keep its flames lit, later members of the duskull line have black holes for stomachs that consume souls, and drifloon kidnaps children. And those are just the ones off the top of my head; not a single ghost type in this series isn't horrifying.

I like its design but, until Gen V, ice-types usually come very late and water-types tend fulfill its niche better in-game because they usually learn both Surf and Ice Beam/Blizzard :( It's pretty okay in Gen III, though, despite the abundance of water-types.
I think you can catch a glimpse of what Korone's real voice sounds like at about 2:37, that gasp is so genuine I think she broke character for a second.

Fun fact: walrein falls into the small category of Pokemon that aren't incredibly strong but are downright infuriating. Back in gen4 when abilities could summon permanent hail, walrein's ability along with its held item let it heal like a fifth of its health every turn. At the same time hail would whittle down anything that wasn't an ice type. By alternating between substitute and protect walrein could outlast multiple pokemon just by sitting in a snowstorm. It was maddening.
