best song she ever did imo. really cooks. i remember when it came out, as the fip side of one of her mostly corny, imo, songs but this, this had balls. i used to play it over and over, like hypnotic.
PETULA CLARK HAS NEVER EVER IN HER WHOLE LIFE RECORDED ANY SONG THAT WAS "CORNY." FACT. Jackie Stull you are talking ABSOLUTE AND UTTER BOLLOCKS. FACT.
I love Pet but that Liverpool Five version is absolutely fantastic...check it out on You Tube and you will understand why they were her favorite rock band and why she offered them the song .
Liverpool 5 are awesome. Barry Tashian and his Remains are GODS. Authentic sound, pure and neat. Their version of Heart sounds reduced to essentials but it blasts off like no others version of this song. These guitar lines are classics. Perfect vocal harmonies, terrific beat... Rock'n'roll at his finest. In fact Liverpool V have way better songs, especially some originals. Check out "Gotta Get A Move On"
Great tune off one of her albums. For a great rock interpretation you should check out the Liverpool Five's 1965 version on You Tube. Truly a revelation. The Remains also recorded it but not as well.
@BettyBoopLover333 Concur completely. Wish she had done more in this vein. The only other one by her that I thought was close was "You Better Come Home."
Going through a stack of 45s I have inherited from various relatives. The "A" side, "You'd Better Come Home" is a perfectly acceptable pop tune that did make the Top 40 in the US. This song, the "B" side, is just wonderful. Much more interesting. Sad that it never charted.
The Remains, son, the remains.

same here! This was the b-side on a 45-rpm of one of her hits, but this was the side I wore out! 2021 now and its still a fav that I seek out!

The Remains version kicks it
Have always loved this song. Come to think about......loved just about everything she did. :)
I love Pet she wrote this tune and has a fine arrangement. But that Liverpool Five version rocks like Ravel's Bolero.
The Liverpool Five recorded my favorite version
You just helped me solve a mystery thank you!
I like this version the best. Interpretation from a woman's point of view. More emotion and more passion.
Plus the perspective of the songwriter herself! :)
