    Great vid. It is worth repeating that this DOES NOT WORK with standard 2021 Toyota Sienna LE trim package. If your van does not have automatic rearview dimming, there is no port for the Dongar adapter.

    The connection you used is not always hot, right? How would you install a dash cam that you want to work while the car is off? Thanks for the helpful video.

      you can buy a connector for your OBD port that will provide constant power. If you’re more technical, you can also splice into the fusebox

    Does it drain the power because it stays on at all times? Or once you turn off the vehicle it stops the video recording?

    I have a 2021 Sienna Platinum trim level...which has the intelligent rear view mirror. It is essentially an LCD and when you flip the switch on the bottom, it switches to a camera view behind the van. Does that change which adapter I need?

    Great Video, does this adapter support 2CH Front and Rear Dashcam

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! This should support 2-channel setup assuming it draws less than 2A of power. I know some newer dashcams can be energy intensive (especially with multi-channel setups) so you might want to check that out first.

    Hi im wondering will it work with the parking mode?

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope. It's designed to turn ON/OFF with your vehicle. This prevents premature draining of car battery should the vehicle sit for an extended period of time. However, if that's not a concern to you, then I do recommend running cables either to the fuse box or the OBDI connector.

    The plug (that you unplug on the passenger side) and plug the adapter into. What is that provide power to?
    I just want to know just in case the 1% chance the adapter goes bad what would the symptoms be on my vehicle "systems".

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All good! That runs power to your HomeLink (garage door buttons) and those dome light/reading lights up there.

    • @johnlovett3111
      @johnlovett3111 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Auto-Minute appreciate that. That lets me know that if by some 1% chance my dome lights and my home link for my garage door opener start acting goofy it's possibly a loose connect in the harness. There's minimal at best chance of that happen I do understand that I just want to know what the symptoms will be if something went sideways that way I'm not scratching my head and paying a million dollars to the stealership

      I did order the Camfitx off of Amazon. The only thing appealing about it is it look streamline and OEM. Everything else I was not even remotely impressed with. There was a harness that came with it that plugged in series with something on the driver side up in the canopy right behind the rear view mirror. It is my understanding that controls the rear view mirror auto dimming. It plugs into some sort of box. I wish I could send you a picture of that box.
      I would send you my email but I don't want to put my email out there for everybody in the world to see. Send a picture of the "box"that I'm referring to.

      @@johnlovett3111 Most definitely! It's honestly one of the simplest ways to get a dashcam connected. They don't tamper with any of the safety sense systems. When installing, just make sure the connector is securely fastened. You should hear a click and those suckers shouldn't come loose once locked in.

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@johnlovett3111Yeah, the FitcamX brand definitely has a more OEM look to it. I've never had my hands on one so I'll defer to your judgement on the operation :D The upside of going the Dongar Tech route is that it's modular and you can pair it with a dashcam of your liking. The modular design also helps when you need to diagnose or upgrade your dashcam.

    I just bought a 2024 Sienna, does it use the same plug?

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! It's going to depend on whether you have an auto-dimming rearview mirror. These adapters are designed to work with auto-dimming/powered rearview mirrors. If you've got one of those, the connector location should be in the same spot and most likely would use the same plug as this one (link in description). There's also a grey/white colored plug (12-pin?) which you can leave alone as it's the one that powers the Toyota Safety Sense system. Hope this helps! Cheers.
