Holy cow Andy! I know you’re still working on this arrangement but will you please offer this as a lesson we can purchase in the tab store when you’re finished? This is the best rendition of Angeline The Baker I’ve ever heard. I was instantly inspired to pick up my guitar after watching this video. By the way, loved the video amigo. Thanks for all you do!
Great stuff, as always, Andy. Your Angeline the Baker arrangement sounds excellent. You are right about focusing on tone and note choices. There are many players out there who already make picking speed their thing, and although as a guitar player, I appreciate the difficulty, it does not make me want to listen to it. Your playing style is exactly what my ears want to hear repeatedly and what I'm trying to achieve as a (couch) guitar player. Thank you for all your help and advice.
Brother you're sounding great! Playing slow and meaningful is how you become better. You don't truly lean anything "fast" (that goes for everthing😉). By the way, I'm a huge fan of vintage Yamaha FGs, and I realize that the one you are playing is not "vintage" but Yamaha is so underrated!! They are amazing guitars. I think I've heard them called the 'Poor man's Martin'. 😂 and I happen to agree. The 1974 FG-160, and the 1980 FG-335 that I play, will stand their ground with a Martin. God Bless you Brother!
Your playing is so very tasteful! That’s what matters, the speed is not for me. Tone and tasteful playing is what counts in my book. Great stuff! Oh that snap is nice for sure.
I'm moving soon, about a 750 mile move, for health reasons. Things are chaos here now but when I get settled, I will definitely be enlisting in your lessons.
Great rendition of a very nice tune. I'm going to work on tone and precision this year. I have clumsy hands for guitar playing. Just subscribed and look forward to more vid's.
I'll never be able to play fast 40 years of carpentry have taken the elasticity out of my hands but I can still play pretty that's why I love your playing 👍❤
Sounds great, good tone and tempo. I'm not there yet, but it's nice to see how it should be done. I'm working on a few country songs, inserting some walk-ups and walk-downs and runs. Also playing some bluegrass with groups on weekends. It's all about the journey! The Yamaha sounds great. I have a few models that I alternate with my Martins, and I can't really say that I lose anything when I pick up a Yamaha. Is that an FS800 series?
Brian, yep, and also those Martin Guitars bluegrassers play have "breath" in them. if you mute all the strings and strum like that you can hear the body of the guitar exhale. It adds to the sound of the notes.
Happy New Year, Andy. Regarding tone and speed, I’m curious if you’ve done a recent video on pick angle for tone and speed? On downstrokes do you strike the string with the pick edge closest to the bridge or headstock (upstrokes the opposite) ? I’ve seen it both ways. Is this more a question of hand geometry, convenience, or comfort or player influence?
Andy! I was going to ask if you ever played electric guitar… what is your electric rig? What kind of stuff do you play/like? Might make for a cool video idea🤷
@@BrandonBunch-ft3ww it's been awhile. Here's one of me and my sister from a long time ago. I like humbuckers and amp modelers, because I like to keep the volume low and still have a good sound. Lol, I'm an acoustic purist, but definitely not on electric th-cam.com/video/sTw2S887BJs/w-d-xo.html

Same here. It's just lovely.
I'm the same way. Jumping around from one thing to another. Beautiful playing at the beginning and end.

I agree with you about speedy pickers. Impressive ability, yet not pleasing to my ears.
Awesome tips man. I always think about you when I think about “what I want to sound like.”
@@joemeersman23 hey Joe! Thanks for checking in! Hope you are well
Man, you make that Yamaha sound good. Love the arrangement!

Thank you, Andy. Listening back is always eye opening and traumatic for some of us ✌️
@@johnking8888 😂 it still can be for me too!
Sweet! Thank you and God bless you as we are off in to a new year!!
That snap is what I’ve always heard listening to Tony Rice playing rhythm. I could never figure out what he was doing until you demonstrated it.
Love this idea

Very nice pickin’ my friend! You won over a new subscriber! (Gotta love those Yamaha’s😊)
Great tips. Thank you, Sir! Been away a bit. Holidays, life. I'll see you again soon. Thank you so much! :)
Love the guitar player crossing signage BTW🥰!!!
Thank you! “Angeline the Baker” is one of my favorites. Particularly James Alan Shelton’s version on Road to Coeburn.

@michaeladams, Carpentry may have taken the elasticity of your hands but it can’t take the music out of your heart! Play on player!🥰

fs800 I think
Speed kills, tasty fills! (I just made that up, inspiration😇)
"Snap".....it feels like a pulse, a way to add energy, besides accentuating the rhythm.

Are these monel strings?

Good advice. That arrangement has legs, likin' it.
This point about paying attention to strumming is seldom made and should be.
Will you teach me this ?? 😮
