When you can, try and use USPS flat-rate boxes. Obviously, a lot of the bigger stuff won't fit in it. But, for instance, I can ship juuuuuust about 40lbs of unshielded RAM in one of those large boxes for $21 which still nets me $900 (at the current $23/lb). The flat-rate boxes definitely has reduced costs for shipping dramatically for me.
I just put up a video today with more information on shipping. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/H-rhi0CtePc/w-d-xo.html Yes, the flat rate boxes are good for the smaller items.
For shipping stuff that won’t fit in a USPS flat rate box, UPS Ground is definitely a much cheaper solution using discounts available through Pirateship for example. Discounts available for USPS are pitiful by comparison. Also with UPS you don’t have the huge increases for oversize boxes like USPS does and your rate is mainly determined by weight.
I really like how PIRATESHIP automatically compares rates for me so I can choose among the many options available. It's an awesome feature of an awesome APP.
That's incredible. Great video. As far as I know there are NO e waste buyers in Ireland (maybe I should set up a yard lol) Amazing prices from board sort there. Good video my friend. I subbed you earlier.
Great video, what a difference! I think we have a place like Boardsort here in England but I can't remember the name. It's been a while since I read their website but I think they didn't charge shipping but paid you a % of the value of the precious metals recovered after costs. Hmm, that would mean you'd be paying for the shipping out of the end value and I bet the "costs" would be a high % of the end value! Take care, Poo
poosmate AWA refiners, they have a minimum weight of seventy five kilos before they will deal with you,but they come to you to purchase the boards they also work on a toll system
@@michaelbrumfitt Oh, thanks for your reply. I thought the place I was thinking of started with a P, something like PMR I just remember thinking the letters stood for Precious Metal Recovery. Thanks again, maybe one day I'll have enough to deal with them. Take care, Poo
I wouldn't be surprised if scrap yards in very remote areas give very low value prices because they resell those same boards to Boardsort for almost pure profit?
There is an aluminum refinery on this one stretch of scrap yards near me. I called thinking they would pay more for Aluminum, but they only pay market price. The reason why was they buy all the Al from the other yards, and it was a contract agreement with other yards. Since the other yards sort it out and drop off to their refinery.

Thanks a ton for this video Shark. Helped me make some decisions.
Very glad it was useful. I always do the math before mailing to BOARDSORT.
Boardsort all the way, Chris and the crew are awesome. Never had a problem with them yet.
Agreed - they've been great to work with
Does they accept throwing a big pile a diff board and electronic things in their boardsort company main local or only accept shipping

Thank you and welcome. I am friends with one of your countrymen. His channel is called Scrapping Irish. Check him out if you haven't already.

Great video thanks for posting.
Newfy Scrapper glad you enjoyed
Hi Shark, pls try ship with UPS ground, maybe 3 times cheaper. Great videos. Thanks for sharing
Since recording this my shipping options have improved. FEDEX is now giving me a very good discount and I get improved corporate rates with UPS.
Very good video Shark. Very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Boardsort it is! Do they still have those USPS one rate shipping boxes down there?
Yes we do and I've done my best to max them out.
Thats excellent info shark 🦈 👍
Glad it was helpful!
My local yard pays about 4 cents for any tye of board. I have a board buyer but its an hour away
Ouch - that's terrible
@@sharkscrapper yea thats why Im going to get a van load to take over

No doubt some yards are doing this.

What about CPU's. Tested vs scrap
I have videos specifically on that subject and talk about that during scrap outs. Thank you for asking.
nice info
Ups is the way to go
I do my best to run all competitive rates and have a pretty good discount from FEDEX. But, I agree, UPS is a good carrier and frequently my choice.
👍
Thanks Michael - I appreciate all your views
My local yard is higher than boardsort
That's great, you should sell to your local yard, especially if they consistently have higher prices. Just be careful it isn't a bait and switch.
