Had to cut DISTURBED - Stricken due to copyright...
I like how Disturbed was in there for a whole 15 frames before being cut off by SOAD
Good eye. I was not disappointed with what was next.
"Following the rights movement you clamp down with you iron fists, drugs became conveniently available for all the kids"
WallForceOne actually that is literally the only Disturbed song I can say I don’t mind! Lol.
Can we take a moment to appreciate how he doesn't talk 20minutes about history and rumors of each riff before doing each them like other youtubers?
@@IvanRochaRock rick beato. Love the guy but he spends too much time talking about the history of riffs instead of actually playing them.
That's exactly why I love Rick, he really knows his stuff like no one else. If I just wanna hear music then I don't click his channel
Oh god this tunning is tattooed in my brain
Clay Barlow considering tattoos are permanent, I hope you didn’t spell “tunning” with 2 “n’s”

The breakdown in So Cold by Breaking Benjamin will always be one of my favorite drop C riffs
Bring E standard back
Done, it's the sixth string on the C-7. Stay away from that seventh string though, IT'S IN DROP! At least it should be
nobody noticed at 2:05 Disturbed - Stricken was played for a second HAHAHA
A Fearsome Mudcrab made a similar comment before you. So imma assume people noticed.
@@liberatorkramit ohhh damn thanks for noticin! when I commented this I didn't see his comment lmao
Drop C riffs = Nostalgia trip.
Some of the best Drop C riffs ever written are on The Way of All Flesh by GOJIRA
Yeah I was just waiting for Adoration for none or Yama's messenger. Still a great vid though
2:15 did anyone else also hear "WA AH AH OH"
Drop C is the best tuning in my opinion
Personally also love Drop F, G and D. Tho, everything from drop C to F is okay to me(Standard tuning just not really mine, and anything lower than F is worthless, except for some occasions)
Communism Untill eternity ends drop F and G lol as the tunings that wont get you laid but will impress scene kids. Drop C is low enough
@@Opticillusion160 I'm not playing metal in it's classical understanding. I love, when it becomes sort of trance(if you want example, check out Nick's video about most used tunings, final riff, perfect example of what I play). And G# is actually pretty nice for fast stuff, like Periphery. Tho,Drop C is lit too,but I just love little bit different type of metal.
This sounds like a soundtrack for every boss battle in 80's Nintendo games.
Drop C sounds like ukeleles now
Ikr. Back in the day I was like "This is silly, E standard for me!"
Me now: heavy starts with a low B
All the greatest jams of my childhood were in drop C. Awesome video Nik.
Bullet. Atreyu. All that remains. Avenged Sevenfold (white album), pretty much anything on guitar hero...
I once thought drop C was the lowest anyone ever played. Ps. Militant Me. I checked out and subbed your channel. Sick tunes dude.
My favorite drop C riff is Machine Head - Davidian. Especially the intro with the harmonics. The whole Burn My Eyes album is also in quarter tuning which makes it even lower. It's between drop C and drop B.
Im pretty late to this party but this list outlines my entire childhood learning riffs lol. Also died at 2:05 when Disturbed made an appearance for 1 tenth of a second lmfao. Nailed it Nik.
Oh my fucking god, I missed it because I was too distracted with other things
Low key stricken had the filthiest riff. Not a disturbed fan, but that riff... good lawd
Tyler Saltmarsh I heard that song on guitar hero and I was like "WHAT THE HELL IS THISS?!?!?" It goes so hard
@@rocesboyanthony5343 yeah back in '05, that riff made all the panties and jean shorts drop. It went so hard
@@inthemiddle1-226 I hate Disturbed as much as any stuck up elitist, but this is definitely their best song and it's insanely good, the solo is jamming, too.
Some Gojira would’ve made my day
Surprised me with Metallica tho
*bangs on pan*
@@truedarklander Nah The St Anger snare sounds more like your hitting a cookie tin
Dude!!! I got goosebumps when you played buttersnips! Such an amazing song, right? Great job and great vid. At least 10 new songs for me to jam to man! -Mikey and Dada
Awesome lesson ! Thanks ! Drop C tuning is relatively new to me and you provide a good lesson in what can be done with it in metal.
some drop C riffs are lowkey heavy af
Listen to Gojira if you like C and full step down, They have some of the heaviest riffs ive ever heard
THEYRE GONNA BUILD A PRISON
I think it’s “they’re tryna build a prison” but who’s keeping track
Every system of a down song ever, anyone?
Yes, Mezmerize and Hypnotize are in Drop C# but it's basically the same thing
0:47 love how the windows restart screen pops up on the monitor haha
Dude I miss The Human Abstract! Thanks for making me remember about that haha
Awesome video
Robin Leneutre
Nocturnes end breakdown into solo is still crazy as fuck
Sailor1010 listen to Digital Veil. Has a different singer who's much better IMO. Though I do like the distinct sound the singer on Nocturne gives, it's really quite unique and it took a while to grow on me, but now I quite like it
I respect the hell out of you for putting frantic on here
I don't entirely hate St. Anger. It had some pretty sweet riffs. I think most people hate it because it's nowhere close to classic Metallica. And Lars's shitty garbage can snare.
@@mmarocker I really like st anger I think its p great. Theres a rerecorded version of it by these two guys and it's super solid.
@@DrunkenGuitarGuy I always thought The Unnamed Feeling was pretty badass.
Funny side note: When I saw Metallica on their first tour supporting St. Anger they had already gotten to the point where they only played one song from St. Anger...and it was Frantic, not even the title track of the album. Lol
You’re playing some of my favorite songs on my favorite guitar I’ve played on. That neck feels so good and even though it had active pickups I thoroughly enjoyed the hellraiser.
Dude that was amazing. Thank you for putting it up.
I’ll always Love Drop C - it makes composing so easy, especially with piano/synths. Also, hell yeah for putting Bodom in there!
Great riffs!
A lot of my favorite drop C riffs are Rob Arnold's, from (imo under rated) Chimaira back then and now in The Elite which remains under the radar it seems.
In dying days!! Damn thats some old school deathcore
I wasnt expecting at all that song. I literally gasped. What a golden band.
Seeing the Human Abstract was completely unexpected. Such an underrated band.
Also glad to see you showing ABRB some love.
Dude, Nocturne is an absolute masterpiece of progressive metalcore. AJ is an absolute beast of a guitarist. Still blows my mind that he was only like 18 or 19 when they recorded that album.
NOBODY I’ve talked to has known the human abstract and I’m pissed because they were SO underrated
@@markcaron4683 I got to hang out with them at Warped Tour 2008 when they came to Minnesota. My friend and I won a VIP contest they had on Myspace. We helped them set up right next to Katy Perry's stage set and it was pretty awesome. I saw them two other times in the Twin Cities in 09 and 11 and then they just disappeared off the planet.
Dude.... my favorite tuning besides D# great upload!
I wasn't expecting children of bodom, nice!
I guess when it comes to his song choices He don't give a flying, he don't give a flying, he don't give a flying FUCK!😂😂
Drop C and drop A# are amazing, whoever found these beautiful tunings deserve a case of the finest alcohol beverage money can find
Bro didn’t you only have 10k subs like last year? I remember seeing your covers around when Fit For a King was teasing Dark Skies. Either I’m tripping or you’ve grown crazy fast! But you deserve it man I love the spice of personality in your videos
This is the goal right here. Awesome video bro. Thanks.
I thought I was the only one who ever listened to The Human Abstract lol. Seems like no one knows them. Big ups to you for tossing em in the mix!🤘
Was not expecting Frantic to be on here. Say what you want about St. Anger but you can't deny that there are some fucking awesome riffs on that album.
If it was made by any other band people would love it. It's only because it was Metallica. But you are so right, some of the riffs are HEAVY as feck.
I love St anger idk why people moan about that album, they need to get laid more often, release the tension
The production was bad, it was missing that signature Metallica tone, Lars is the drummer, they had a studio bassist that was not NEARLY as good as Jason or Cliff, they were going through therapy together, they ran out of Dave Mustaine riffs, and the aggression just wasn't really there. The songs were heavy.. Hell throw one of those riffs through an EVH 5153 and set Bass at 6 mid at 5 and treb at 8, pres at 6 and gain at 5.5 and it sounds heavy as fuck. But you could tell that the aggression from earlier albums wasn't there.
If it was released by any other band, my criticisms would have been the same. With the exception of the signature metallica tone and lars drumming part.
Metallica carries weight in the industry for a reason. That album was terrible by their standards and should be judged by that standard because they are the ones who created it. No one cares if a local band wrote St. Anger. Hell we wouldn't even be talking about that album if they did.
love your work!
Buenos riffs! Gracias.
That Meddler riff took me ages to get down cleanly, but it was so satisfying once I did. That whole song is a finger work out!
Also liking the inclusion of some old school Black Dahlia Murder!
As blood runs black...man that takes me back...they had such potential
Dude, the feels ❤️
That was badass! subbed
The Shooting Star by Gojira will always be my favorite Drop C riff!
Thanks for the periphery, my dude
thanks for this video i needed it thanks
Ayyyyy, The Human Abstract finally getting some recognition
@@mikehurt3290 yeah but children of the bodem is literally awful compared to the human abstract compositional value and groove
The Faceless, SOAD, I the Breather, and MMI (specifically A Dance with Aera Cura) back to back. All favs lol
Thanks for including Frantic! Legit one of the heaviest riffs alongside Sweet Amber
Nice work, keep it up and sounds badass 🤘!
love how long this video is in comparison to the others, also some of my fave riffs are in here!!
drop SËÊ is heavy as shit
The whole video really great really love the drop c tuning
I love your intro jam. So sweet
The Faceless has some crazy riffs. Some of the most unique structure and hooks I've heard.
So true, the faceless is light years ahead in songwriting to most bands featured in this video, michael keene is a master songwriter
That August Burns Red riff is one of the most fun.
Thank you man! You makes my day🔥🔥🔥
SICK! It's awesome just living in the comfort zone. So many different songs, the fret hand is in that same comfy position. The box, it's a friendly and safe to play, try breaking out some time. You'll blow your own mind.
When you played "Frantic", I started hearing James Hetfield in my head doing that hilarious chorus.
Amazing playing with amazing sound. Thumbs up.
Respect for throwing in frantic. Sweet amber of the unnamed feeling also fun riffs. Good list brother
Before I watch this I hope there's at least one gojira riff in here.
Edit: I'm sad, was hoping I'd see toxic garbage island or the breakdown from L'enfant sauvage :(
but good selection of simple and some pretty technical riffs there. I'm glad I saw my fav band soad on this lol.
You should do heaviest riffs D standard next
Awesome job my man!
Very nice choics. Gives me some inspiration to listen to these bands
Drop C RULES!!! 🤘🔥🔥🔥🤘
I have sound-colour synesthesia and I interpret the key of C as having a deep red colour, so that deep red guitar was suuuuuuper satisfying
Edit: WOW some people like to comment without doing any research. I know the official name is chromesthesia, I gave it the simpler name so that more people could understand what I meant. The general estimate for the amount of people who have synesthesia is around 4% - approx. 320 MILLION people - but some studies have estimated that it's more like 1 in 23 people. Not exactly some hyper-rare brain condition that everyone in the comment section "suddenly has". Also, one of the main components of synesthesia is different people interpreting the same thing in different ways, i.e. a musical note being green to one person, and purple to another. It doesn't have to be interpreted the same way by every synesthete to be real - in fact, it's one of the main things we fight over. I really fucking hope that clears some things up before even more of a shitstorm gets created.
When I was a kid I matched songs and sounds with colours but I don’t really do it anymore I wish I could
Meddler takes the cake that riff is so sick! I like the beginning to paramount by august burns red that ones sick! Nice playing man
Yesssss the Bullet For My Valentine riff.. Thank youuuuu, The End is amazing
pinch harmonics are the bane of my existence rn
Idk why I’m saying this, but my top 5 favorite tunings are...
5-drop G
4-D standard
3-drop B
2-drop C
1-drop A#
It's funny, as you went through this list (never watching a video of yours) I didn't realize how many songs I learned and haven't played in a while. Now I gotta go jam lol
Hey what's up dude , this is my very first time seeing you on TH-cam and I LOVE THIS VIDEO BRO 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 !!!!!!!!!!! My favorite riff has gotta be " Disturbed : Stricken " . I would really love to see you do a riff from a band called " Blood in the Gears " because they use drop C tuning a lot as well . Love your video , love your skills , and I love you my brother . Keep on doing what you do my man . DUSES ✌✌✌
I literally JUST leaned how to play Through Struggle recently. Even with tabs, that song is tough to learn IMO.
You need to do, “best songs by bands that are no longer together”
**Cough cough The Human Abstract Cough Cough**
sick tone great job!
Imma pause the video for a second and take a breath. All these riffs are heavy as balls man!
Funny how drop C is the new E standard. Growing up I thought that was the heaviest it got.
Also COBHC \m/
The moment you realise that you love almost every song on this and there might be a reason why...
DROP C all the way, baby
Shit man I'm not subscribed to you so I wouldn't know, but that as blood runs black riff has stuck with me forever. Top man
I can hear jakes lyrics when you played meddler omg ❤️❤️❤️🥴🥴🥴🥴
Dope!
1:06 That Periphery - Buttersnips riff is so juicy, love them.
An entire video in Drop C and not one ADTR song, I'm throwing hands
Mr highway though or life lessons. Oh wait that was in B. Yeah never mind 😂
@CanvasSuperior A sharp, B flat. Wasn't too off there. Fucking tryhards man lmao..
I love adtr but agreed not very heavy they just have amazing drop c riffs
Meddler holds a special place in my heart because it was the first song I heard by ABR and they are now one of my favorite bands of all time.
My teenage years 🤘🏼
