    This is a great video! Loving the 1:1 interviews with all the different people that made your trip so special, African people are such wonderful and friendly people.
    I recently read a book that spoke a lot about Tsavo- it was the life story of Daphne Sheldrick and seeing some of the land that Daphne described with such passion has made me desperate to visit even more!
    I particularly liked that the poachers son shared his story and to know he has come full circle and to share how he loves and cares for the wildlife.
    There is no feeling like the feeling you have in Africa, a true sense of belonging in a world bigger than human existence! It’s one of the most special and magical places in the world and you’ve captured it perfectly with these clips.
    Finch Hattons looks like such a wonderful place full of wonderful people - adding it to my list of places to go in Kenya - thanks for sharing this 🇰🇪 🥰

      Thank you! I was lucky to have my wife helping out so I could chat on camera with everyone. *This* is what I hope to do more of. So your support means the world! Helps it reach more people and make it easier for me to make more of these :)
      And thanks for the book recommendation! I recognize the name Sheldrick from the elephant orphanage. Didn't know there was a book to read, too!

      @@BaurJoe Jambo rifiki, I lived in Kenya for one year and I still dream of going back. I was a pilot flying out of Wilston Airport. I was very fortunate as the German company that I worked for had a Landrover for every employee, and I was able to go on a Safari multiple times. The wildlife is amazing and the people of Kenya & Tanzania are fabulous. Like you, I spent a lot of time with the locals learning about their life and their culture. I learned most of my Kiswahili in Tanzania and people in Kenya thought I was Tanzanian because apparently I had an swahili accent distinct to Tanzania.
      Anyhow, I enjoyed your video as it brought back many wonderful memories from those days. Asante sana!

    Locals warned me not to stop nearby bushes in Tsvao because of the maneaters

      Interesting! I listened to a podcast about the history of the man-eaters before I came, but it didn’t come up much in my travels so I didn’t focus on it. That said, I’d love to start the Tsavo Man-Eaters Ultramarathon just because I love the name and think it’d make for a sweet logo 😂

    Would you recommend Tsavo to be included in a short safari program (6 days) in Kenya?

    • @BaurJoe
      @BaurJoe  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wouldn't count myself as an expert since it's the only place I've done safari in Kenya. BUT it seems to be pretty accessible (relatively speaking) from Nairobi. I think it's an even safer bet during the dry season when you're likely to see more animals out and about!

      Tsavo is an absolutely stunning wilderness. For the best game viewing I would recommend Tsavo East National Park, as the area is less bushy and flatter hence makes for easier spotting of wildlife. Tsavo West on the other hand absolutely makes up for it in scenery. Also if you plan to see all of the Big5, a visit to both parks is recommended as rhinos can only be seen in Tsavo West. However, if you are short on time and staying anywhere along the coast, a day trip is a possibility that many tour operators will readily offer you. But if you can spare the time I would recommend at least one overnight. A night in the African bush is an unforgettable experience not forgetting the amazing sunsets and morning gamedrives. I would also recommend a tented unfenced Camp, these camps have luxury tents with inbuilt bathrooms and private terraces from which you can observe the wildlife. I hope this answers some of your queries. Tsavo is an absolute amazing place!
