    Is film look creator available for free version?

      I don’t think so. Will make a powergrade that does the same thing in my next video for the free version.

    Wait so you still need to add the lut after? That makes sense

      You can use resolves built in Kodak 2383. If enough people are interested I’ll release the one in the video.

      No - the film look creator is to replace a LUT not add to it. I'm afraid that this video is misleading in a lot of places. yes you can add an actual film stock but the ones that ship with Resolve also have colorspace and gamma that would be actually doubling the effect.

      @@JimRobinson-colors I disagree. Why would they have an override CST built into it the FX feature.

    Great video Austin, would be great to show us your differents workflows when you grade with 3x3 matrixes

      Yeah this FX feature will render most DCTL's and plugins obsolete. However, you can still get the film stocks from Dehancer which is nice.

    sorry mate take a look at Cullen Kelly Chanel before you teach people how to grade, why putting a film print emulation like Kodak 2383 upstream the film look creator just convert your footage to 709 with lut or with CST in a film look creator and then play with this plugin BTW have you ever seen such a dense sky (sorry I'm not a colorist but this doesn't look right)

    • @AustinGarcia-Color
      @AustinGarcia-Color  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I always find comments like these comical. Film emulation is subjective and can look whatever you want it to look like. Also, the LUT is at the end of the node tree which is the correct way of using it. Cullen Kelly is a talented colorist, however, I’ve also worked on professional projects because I’m a colorist. So I know what I’m doing. I also stated in the video I’m pushing things really far to show off what the tool can do. I also stated I would never probably do this on a client video unless the client wanted the look.

      @@AustinGarcia-Color The first thing you talk about is how to properly apply the Film Lut after a CST converting the color space and gamma to Rec709 Cineon Log, but then immediately after you show your Film Look OFX with Gamma 2.2 output. That is wrong and inconsistent with what you just showed. There is a point of subjectivity, but you have so much control in the OFX and even outside it that simply doing the wrong color transform is not a creative solution, it's a technical mistake. Your channel is still small and there are lots you can improve in the sound and the other aspects, so try to be more open to criticism, because when we teach, we must also be ready to learn.

    • @AustinGarcia-Color
      @AustinGarcia-Color  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GabrielPassarelliG It’s not a technical mistake. That’s my fault. I should have mentioned I have multiple LUTs I use and some are expecting gamma 2.2, ARRI LOG C, Cineon. So my workflow is not wrong. I just should have mentioned that I’m using different LUT for each clip for testing purposes. I did say the standard workflow for rec709 cineon because that’s what resolves built in LUTs expect. I’m open to constructive criticism. Not commenting on my videos and saying this is not right you need to follow Cullen Kelly. His comment was passive aggressive. I agree sound quality, scripting even lighting can be improved.

      @@AustinGarcia-Color No one ask you to follow Cullen Kelly but only to take a look You are very right Hi is a talented colorist BTW I prefer to use Buttery Natural Rec709 luts compared to built in Resolve Luts to convert my BM log to 709 it has more pleasant skin rendering and highlights rolloff that is a perfect starting point to play with new Film look creator

      @@robertkwela8186 No worries. I will start to elaborate in my videos. I do agree I should have specified several things before showing the standard way. Next time I will use the built in 2383 LUT to avoid confusion.
