No real reason really from what i know, in bangers Im sure its for safety reasons involving drivers door and oppo, as oppo (allowed at some tracks) is outside to in and with most cars being left hand drive, the drivers side door wont get hit. But dont quote me on that!! With the superstox i dont know the original reason they race the opposite way however I do know they set their cars up so that most their weight is on the left side of the car to help them turn in, along with certain camber and suspension tunes to help them carry more speed through the corners, hope this helps :)

Stock cars originated from the USA so maybe just followed suit when they came to the UK and ran anti clockwise .
