Matt you need to know that if this doesnt work out and you need to sell, we will NOT be upset or mad at you! We will be supporting you regardless what happens and will completely understand. Don't go bankrupt trying to finish this series. You are brave as all heck to take a leap of faith like this and it is incredibly respectable. Nothing will change on our end if you have to sell. Just know we are here no matter what you decide! Much love
@David.-_- one good day of rain will cause more water. River is just dry because wherever it's coming from is too low, it'll be back by April, I'll bet you 5 dollars (I'm broke)
It might be a good idea to call on Heavy D Sparks and his boys for help and see if him and his friends can help or even invest in your vision for the resort. Look for sponsors everywhere you can to help share the load of the bills that need to be payed at the resort. Just a thought Matt. I hope things are on the up from here.
Matt, take advantage of this time. I'd ask followers to buy a brick or something like that to show contributions to this place. Like $50 for a brick with your name on it as part of the walkway or something like that. I'd take one!
Maybe building codes are different in texas, but I know here in Iowa that’s exactly how pole buildings and barndominiums are built. It’s called a “post frame” which is piers with a bracket poured into them for the posts to bolt into most people go with 4x4s because that’s all you need for code, but I personally like to go a bit overkill and put 4x6s in for extra strength. Just rewatched the video and seen they never put footing brackets in, that is a problem, your building is technically not attached to anything.
A wise man once told me. "If it was easy, everyone would do it," that has stuck with me every day since. It's gonna be alot of work but it will be worth it. Have a Marvelous Monday, Matt
If ANYONE can turn an impossibility into reality, it is you Matt. The proof is in in your current home, and THAT project is why I started following you years ago. Prayers brother, keep your head up! You have some amazing followers who will help out, you have Bunker Branding which blew my mind, AND you have an amazing family that loves you. Top it off with God being in the center of your life, yeah....WIN WIN WIN WIN!!!!!
After reading many of the posts here, I see how much love everyone has for you. Matt, you have a whole huge extended family here that loves and appreciates what you give to all of us who watch your videos and follow every post. Be encouraged and heartened by all your 'family'. You must be doing something right to have so much love and support. You can never fail with friends like these.❤
Aw, Matt. Obviously don’t love that you’re depressed. Thank you for posting this. It’s actually rather inspiring to see that even you have bad days and get down during your projects. You seem to 💩 gold bricks most of the time 😂, and it’s clearly due to your positive attitude and amazing work ethic. This video is a reminder that success is not the cover of the book, but all of the chapters on the inside. Including and especially the ones we’d rather forget. The chapter of this resort is still being written, and this paragraph (crappy building) is one part of it. Thanks for bringing us along on the journey as always. Most of us will never take on projects at the scale that you guys do, but it’s all relative at the end of the day. We all struggle and we all have to overcome those struggles in order to succeed in our own ways. Take good care of yourself and each other on this journey. There’s no doubt this resort will be a jewel one day, shining brighter than it ever has, with a bountiful river and full bookings.
Hey Matt, have been watching you since my freshman year of high school and now as I find myself in my freshman year of college I want to not only thank you for your content but the influence you've had on me to be better every day. I know things look bad but you need to know that you've got this. We're all here for you. You've survived the ZR-1, Mansion, and countless other rebuilds. Everything has led up to this. JESUS LOVES YOU.
Remember the huge problems you had to overcome when you renovated your house, Matt, but in the end, the house was even better than you originally planned. Renovations have surprises, and they're usually expensive. Well renovating a resort is going to have the same kinds of surprises, just on a much bigger scale. These challenges will be bigger, but I think the reward will also be worth it, for you, when done. Don't let the tough times bring you down. You are taking a long neglected resort, and bringing it up to modern standards. I have faith in you, that you can and will succeed in accomplishing your goal for making the Desperado Resort a profitable reality, and a destination for not only the the Demolitia, but their families, and their friends, as well.
@@Jamtoastbutterlovely he isn't. He buys stuff that are beaten and rather cheaper than how they would cost new. He saves in most items that he buys and thereof has more leftover for monthly payments for other projects. He has to repair most of the things too. The way you phrased it, sounded like some old fatso with too much cash spending on the newest crap brand new condition. Either way, Matt has indeed enough for retirement but with that it may become somewhat difficult with the resort since that'll eat away at his wealth immensely. Resorts usually can tank in the millions and maintenance is also another large stake. It's not something matt can feasibly fund on his own forever unless he'll decide to approach it differently which would be just a ranch, a few housing for it and keep things minimum and affordable.
Seeing Matt down like this honestly hurt, hang in there Matt! It won’t be easy but the vision that you have for the Resort and all the Progress you already made is inspiring!
It would be sick to set up the range and have competitions out there. You have the promoters and support. Plus, another demolitia day to help out because im sure more people wanted to come out and help.
@@hercules1177 his excavators with some rock breakers could also make short work of the hard rock down to the river. Hey could even do some blasting (I’m sure he knows a guy lol)
9:30 As long as it's a floating slab, that's fine. Unless they're supporting a load on the concrete NOT over a pier. But with everything added together...I feel your frustration.
We have your back. Your channels have been instrumental in shaping my life over the past 8 years when decided to enroll at a Boston law school in 2016 at age 38 as a full-time day regular student along with recent college grads, while having a wife and 3 daughters counting on me. Your videos not only answered many things I’ve pondered and/or wanted to see regarding firearms, but also helped reinforce, rethink and shape my viewpoint and resolve when understanding and advocating for 2A rights, statutes, regs, and the average individual American’s general firearm education on an individual, local, state and federal level. You just let us know.
Life keeps knocking you down, you get right back up and climb that mountain. As frustrating as it will be, keep climbing those mountains till there are no more mountains. The reward of finishing that Journey of the resort will be so much more greater than you'll ever know. Never give up! You got this Matt! I've been pushing for a Heavy D Sparks collab. I'm sure he would have some large machines that would make short work of that rock.
Bro... YOUR KIDS ARE GONNA WORK THERE. Your kids' kids are gonna stay at their dads RESORT. There are so many great memories in store for you! Not that I ever thought for one second you were actually going to give up... BUT DONT GIVE UP! You got this! There is no difference between the resort and the mansion! (except for a ton more land, buildings and everything else)
Stuff like that always happen , especially with huge pieces of land like this. One of the major reasons they get abandoned, is its maintenance cost. You run into a problem because you are tying to do all at once, take your time and do step by step. The river will flow again. So don't give up your dreams, everything will be ok :)
Matt has a way of bringing so many different people together. Love reading all the comments! All so positive and uplifting. If we don’t agree on anything else, everyone watching these videos wanna see this project succeed!! - Much love Matt and we’re all praying for the success of The Abandoned Ranch💯❤️
Seems like there’s an opportunity to salvage some of the wood and stone As well as reshape the river to create some sweet vistas It’s all about perspective
When you discovered that the walls on the mansion had to be destroyed that wasn't fun either. You must know everything will turn out great. Hang on. You're doing something incredible and bringing back this resort to life. You'll get there. And you'll thrive.
There is so much material in these buildings that you should be saving. Lots of wood, windows, rock, etc. Gotta be a way to save some of that to reuse making the new buildings. Esp the big header beams which are hella expensive. There was really nice wood and stone in this building that could have been saved. You could also save the roof! You're wasting a ton of cash here in the future by not saving things you can.
I wonder how many people would come out and support you as it is right now? And maybe even give a helping hand with whatever you may need. Hopefully enough have been reaching out to Heavy D that they may reach out and do a collaboration video or set with you. Keep up the good spirits, it will get better.
We all love these videos! These videos make my day every time I see one pop up in my feed, I know it might seem hard right now but keep on truckin and you’ll get there! I believe in you matt!
I had a feeling this project was going to be a lot more difficult than you thought. I've dealt with old Hill Country construction myself and it always seems to be subpar. Or shall we say half assed. I suppose it's the same all over out in the boonies.
Matt, we have been watching your videos for at least a decade, Microwave Mondays, crazy shotgun shells, building super strong table, the brave humvee lol You and your family have been a steady source of wholesome entertainment, mourned with you for your losses and happy for you with you success. Its not a lot but I am going to buy bunker merch to try and support your abandoned resort project is some small way; keep it going! You can do it! Make some special bunker stuff that is specifically to support you abandoned resort project, let the Demolitia show its love and support!
Matt brother we appreciate this video. The honesty and the truth about life. Makes your whole channel have more heart and feel even more real. Keep up pushing and working hard like you have been and we will all keep supporting you through it all. Peace and love brother. 👍🏼
Thanks for the behind the scenes and expressing yourself this way. A lot of ppl dont think you get like this and blah blah, but we're all human it's gonna happen. And as a family member of the demolita, I feel like I can tell you it's gonna get better, and we stand behind you the best we can, and you have us for life. ❤❤❤❤
Don’t give up Matt, I love this series and I cannot wait for the opportunity to come and stay there. You should rig the building with explosives and then raffle of the a chance to come out and stay at the air stream and push the button the destroys the building. You could even make a shirt of the building exploding or like some old school TNT logos.
You got this. You never give up you just keep moving forward with other projects. Matt your a very level head. And you'll figure out what's best. God has you ❤
You got this Matt I've watched Demo Ranch from relatively early on and off the ranch from day one. It has been an inspiration to me and has pushed me to chase some of my own goals.
Hey Matt, i know im just a faceless subscriber but these videos have brought a lot of joy and entertainment to my daily life. So thank you, i can only imagine how hard all of this has been but i have really enjoyed all that you have shown us.
I'll say the same thing to you as I said to myself when I was walking a particularly steep part of a coastal path recently. If you turn back now, you'll never forgive yourself. Keep going. You know it'll be worth it in the end.
You could also host paintball tournaments and other things like that. Depending on land and trails people are always looking for a place to ride their razors too.
Convert it to a covered patio and remove all the walls and just keep the metal roof. If thats possible especially if you have to lay a new foundation for a building you might as well build a new one.
Hey Matt - Another option for the needed tear down would be upscale shipping containers. A very creative force in this field is “Containing Luxury” a TH-cam channel - maybe worth an out reach or good content for your channel. Probably a lot cheaper than a total rebuild.
Matt we love you and your content. Remember you have a lot of friends and an extremely crazy fan base. I understand it would be difficult to coordinate but a lot of us would love to come out and help in any and all ways we can!
Hay matt, remember how many hiccups you had when starting the abandoned mansion but with a lot of help and work your project was finely complete I believe the resort will be the same. No big project is easy but you'll get there.
I have a suggestion about the river problem. Dig out deep swimming holes along the river so next time it doesn’t rain for a while you will have some good swimming holes at least
Dont touch it without proper planning and permits! Suggest going to the most relevant agency and say, "hey, id like to do some work on the river here, here, and here....if that doesnt synch with water management and wildlife, lets work plans together for the best river we can get , through here."
as a suggestion--what if you used the main building as a barn and made a petting zoo/farm experience and storage? And just invest in a pole barn wedding/event space all built correctly.
Honestly might be time to scale back the plans and focus on camping, rv lots, and a range. People want to support you and this project. Give them a place to stay, eat, and shoot.
I have starlink in the middle of nowhere Tennessee and it works excellent for most part. I'm not a Elon musk fanboy but boy am I happy as I'm currently moving from shitty Illinois to Tennessee and it allows me to do my job when I'm down in Tennessee for a few weeks at a time
This is going to sound crazy, but trust me it works. We're done this more the a few times on a smaller scale. Host a real music festival on the grounds, offer free tickets to the workers, you'll get free workers for at least a week working to clean up and pretty up the grounds. And most music festivals have their own insurance
On the surface it seems like a good idea but it isn't quite that simple, even the original Woodstock festival wasn't held in Woodstock due to county regulations and was held outside of Bethel and that was in 1969, can't imagine how many regulations and permits and costs would be needed today. Edit, most festivals today are at venues that have all the needed infrastructure already in place and one of things they require are roads into and out of the area that can handle the amount of traffic that's expected.
Hey matt you should look into earthship homes they are super cool and theres a few companies that do big workshops to show people how to make them and maybe you could make a deal to host one of those workshops and you get a few units out of it to use as air BNBs
Brother got this either its going to be an amazing resort or just end up being one awesome shooting range I know u will make something spectacular of it
Things may seem hard now Matt, but keep your chin up. It’s better to know all these issues now and be able to rebuild everything the right way. Keep the faith brother.
Just know we WANT to support you guys. Don’t have a ton of resources (we have 4 kids) but my wife and I bought shirts. We want to support this project and when the resort is open in any capacity we will be going out of our way to support it. It would be really cool if you open by that eclipse like you were talking about in the other video. My wife’s 30th birthday is on the day of the eclipse and I’m kind of a nerd about this stuff so I’ve been counting down to that day since before I met her. And she was like it would be so cool if she could spend her 30th at some big event at the Desperado. We’re rooting for you guys hard!
Glad to know your human! good luck and keep it up, you'll get through it! you have built a youtube empire and a mansion, you are good people and have a good team.
You really need a plan. Every episode shows that there is no plan. Go back to the drawing board, contact the right people, brainstorm and map out extacly what this resort should be, have a layout and steps to achieve one thing at a time. So many people will collaborate with you. You cant do everything on your own matt. Maybe a group of people will be better able to help you excute this.
I can understand the frustration. This reminds me a lot of the abandon mansion saga when you kept finding more and more areas that needed to be ripped out and made completely new. And then that the rock on the outside would need to come off. Keep plugging along one day at a time, one or two areas at a time and it will eventually come together.
With the river that low, you might want to take the opportunity to use your loader and shape it the way you want, make holes deeper or shallower. Might not have this chance for another 50 years
Great idea. You can even divert it if you want to.
Just need to talk with the local governing board. Some areas it’s illegal to reshape a natural waterway with out proper permits. Not saying it’s a bad idea just gotta do it right.
Love these ideas! Lean into camping and make a place you can sell floats down the river and camp.
Except that's super federal pound me in A illegal...
I thought the same thing!!! And if it was deeper it wouldn't dry out as fast... better fishing.. and.. ropeswings!!
With the river at a record low, you could take advantage of those rare opportunity and do any cleaning/clearing, building docks, etc that you want to get done.
Turn those negatives into positives Matt!
My thoughts exactly, Time to make a SWIMMING HOLE !
This deserves more likes Matt needs to see this
I was thinking is he able to make an overflow pipe from the pond to the river to get some more water? Or am I just stupid for thinking that :X
Smart!
Yea Matt I grew up on that river and this is the lowest it’s been since ive been around, like the guy said above turn those negatives into positives
There is a TON of good lumber in that barn/lodge. It might be extremely cost effective to salvage the lumber for other projects.
yeah no doubt, even if not used for construction of a new building lumber can be used on little odd job projects for all kinds of things.
Rafters, definitely. Others pick and choose
I don't think the labour to save it would be worth it and it maybe to dry to reuse anyway.
You really didn't think about that.
Is still a good barn.
say re roof it with either plywood or a new metal roof. Don't suppose demolition is worth it

Much love
remember you have a fan base ready to volunteer and make things happen
Plus, the water tho. I feel like they are lying about it. Its going to be 10 years before he gets that back
@David.-_- one good day of rain will cause more water. River is just dry because wherever it's coming from is too low, it'll be back by April, I'll bet you 5 dollars (I'm broke)
@@David.-_-he’s not lying, that’s just how rivers and creeks work. If there isn’t rain for months and or weeks on end, they start to lose depth.

Do the pools. Rent the river front. Swim in the pools when the river is dry. Host pasture parties. It’ll be great!
I was thinking that one. Find 'something' left there that can get rehabbed, even if its another hole in the ground.
Keep the faith. Your doing wonderful things. Letting people know know how bad it gets makes you more relatable. I definitely appriciate it.
That is one fabulous idea! It would spark new followers for both channels and possibly new contributors!
Heavy D probably has something that can make that rock disappear. If not he knows someone who does.
Good old Cleetus McFarland might have some interesting ideas as well. Call in a few favors and provide them with bonus treatment.
That was the first thing that came to mind as well
Heavy D's team combined with Matt's team , damm that's a party riot waiting to happen, hell yea.
Matt, take advantage of this time. I'd ask followers to buy a brick or something like that to show contributions to this place. Like $50 for a brick with your name on it as part of the walkway or something like that. I'd take one!
♤♤♤♤ He could also sighn the bad wine corks an😊d include them

Not true bro, you just need the right mindset and attitude you’ll achieve anything.
You can never fail with friends like these.❤
Exactly. I suggested that he finally starts a Patreon.
I couldn’t have said it better. So “ditto”!
Welcome to the “what the heck did we do?“ stage you reach on every build. You knew it was coming… persevere, overcome and we can’t wait to stay there!
I'm sort of there with property I bought but fortunately for me my expenses are pocket change compared to Matt's expenses.
Congratulations on college. GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU
Remember the huge problems you had to overcome when you renovated your house, Matt, but in the end, the house was even better than you originally planned.
You're giving advise to a guy who is rich and buys cars and property for fun
@@Jamtoastbutterlovelyhe’s giving support and encouragement trying to help keep the motivation up for Matt to keep going
When Pouring concrete, we use sand as a footing because it fills in and packs down better then dirt, used mostly for sidewalks and patios.
Seeing Matt down like this honestly hurt, hang in there Matt! It won’t be easy but the vision that you have for the Resort and all the Progress you already made is inspiring!
lol. its all for show.
@tncountryboy06 - so’s yer face

It would be sick to set up the range and have competitions out there. You have the promoters and support. Plus, another demolitia day to help out because im sure more people wanted to come out and help.
Yeah that’s what I said too
Same idea her. Sometimes you have to stick with what you know. Get a win there to fuel you getting further
Sounds like Dave Sparks could assist with some of his gear!
This exactly this right here. Liking and commenting for the algo
I’m sure Dave sparks would love to make the building disappear haha
This is actually a great idea. It would make great content for the both of them.
@@hercules1177 his excavators with some rock breakers could also make short work of the hard rock down to the river. Hey could even do some blasting (I’m sure he knows a guy lol)
@@thebeardofgaming81 my thoughts exactly - both could monetize it and make a series. Maybe remove the roof with a black hawk or 2 😆
9:30 As long as it's a floating slab, that's fine. Unless they're supporting a load on the concrete NOT over a pier. But with everything added together...I feel your frustration.
Yeah thus was totally mea t to be a pier and post.....bit then they put stud walls in it which is weird...
Hang in there, Matt. You are blessed and highly favored. Don’t forget that… ❤
Haha, highly favored? Is that what you call people who work their asses off every day to get what they want?
Well you’re just a ray of sunshine, aren’t ya?
You got this buddy! If anybody can figure it out and do it the right way you can.
Seems like there’s an opportunity to salvage some of the wood and stone
As well as reshape the river to create some sweet vistas
It’s all about perspective
Keep truckin Matt, it’s amazing how in the toughest times you keep a great attitude. Admirable.
When you discovered that the walls on the mansion had to be destroyed that wasn't fun either. You must know everything will turn out great. Hang on. You're doing something incredible and bringing back this resort to life. You'll get there. And you'll thrive.
Good Point!
I had the same thought.
@King-lc4wehow is that helpful? And he’s got a swing in this river too.
Don't give up yet Matt! We believe in you, you can make this resort amazing. It may take longer than expected, but we are here for the long haul.
Hardships must be in the cards. Nothing to do but move forward, stay positive, and support one another! We got this!
Matt your life is a win at this point. Just keep doing what you’ve always done and things will work out
I wonder how many people would come out and support you as it is right now? And maybe even give a helping hand with whatever you may need. Hopefully enough have been reaching out to Heavy D that they may reach out and do a collaboration video or set with you. Keep up the good spirits, it will get better.
We all love these videos! These videos make my day every time I see one pop up in my feed, I know it might seem hard right now but keep on truckin and you’ll get there! I believe in you matt!
Stay strong Matt, it'll be worth it in the end just like the mansion was.
KEEP GOING MATT! YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION! YOU WILL GET THERE!
I had a feeling this project was going to be a lot more difficult than you thought.
I've dealt with old Hill Country construction myself and it always seems to be subpar. Or shall we say half assed.
I suppose it's the same all over out in the boonies.
Matt, we have been watching your videos for at least a decade, Microwave Mondays, crazy shotgun shells, building super strong table, the brave humvee lol
You and your family have been a steady source of wholesome entertainment, mourned with you for your losses and happy for you with you success.
Matt , you’ve got this. If anyone can do it, it’s you. Hang in there ❤
Don’t give up Matt, I love this series and I cannot wait for the opportunity to come and stay there.
Good rafters, roof fit for a barn.... Sounds like a barn. No ranch can ever have too many barns. :)
I'll say the same thing to you as I said to myself when I was walking a particularly steep part of a coastal path recently.
If you turn back now, you'll never forgive yourself.
Keep going. You know it'll be worth it in the end.
Mat don't give up we all want to see it and eventually stay at ur resort We love u don't give up
My husband and I are already excited about the amazing vaction we're going to have there, however long it takes. We're rooting for you big time!
Well, save the rafters and some of the better wood for a new building!!
You could also host paintball tournaments and other things like that. Depending on land and trails people are always looking for a place to ride their razors too.
Convert it to a covered patio and remove all the walls and just keep the metal roof. If thats possible especially if you have to lay a new foundation for a building you might as well build a new one.
Don’t give up on it, this is just the resorts way of testing you in the end it will all be worth it.
@@RICDirectorwho needs permits? Pshhhh nerdd
They would fill up when the rivers running
as a suggestion--what if you used the main building as a barn and made a petting zoo/farm experience and storage? And just invest in a pole barn wedding/event space all built correctly.
Honestly might be time to scale back the plans and focus on camping, rv lots, and a range. People want to support you and this project. Give them a place to stay, eat, and shoot.
A bunch of prebuilt tiny homes would probably be most cost efficient and give the ability to have more guest too
This is a Great idea! Tiny home get aways are popular and people love the hominess and privacy of tiny home get aways!
I have never had anything worthwhile not come with a test. Push through and reap the rewards.
Great idea---I bet that guy Oliver who wrote Rich Men North of Richmond woiuld do a concert for you and draw a HUGE crowd!
Someone give this man a hug
Have you considered outdoor laser tag, airsoft or paintball? Would be pretty sweet around the buildings and other outdoor settings.
Huge fan brother. Hope you stick it out, and things start looking up! Can't wait to see what you guys do with the place!
Don’t give up!!!
Praying for you and your family. God bless 🙋🏻♀️♥️🇺🇸
Matt's like 6 to 8 setbacks away from writing his own Joe Exotic origin story.
Brother got this either its going to be an amazing resort or just end up being one awesome shooting range I know u will make something spectacular of it
Keep your head up Matt! ❤ everything you do with both channels! Always remember you have the Demolitia to lend a helping hand!
3:13 "this rock is just hard rock" wise words from a wise man

Just what I was gonna say.
I can understand the frustration. This reminds me a lot of the abandon mansion saga when you kept finding more and more areas that needed to be ripped out and made completely new. And then that the rock on the outside would need to come off. Keep plugging along one day at a time, one or two areas at a time and it will eventually come together.
