Good job! My friend’s friend’s boss had his long camper stolen from the construction site where he was working at and staying at. Police couldn’t find it (of course) 2 weeks later, he drove by one building and spotted his camper so he drove up and checked it out. Sure enough it is his. He said they changed the paint and end up living in it. So he backed up his truck and tow it then left. He threw away all trashes that arent his and called police and said never mind. I found it. Thanks.
You need to add GPS and AirTags so you can track it. Glad you got it back. The two guys should have to pay the value of the truck before getting out of jail.
Great advice! Everyone should hide a tracker in or on their vehicle - imagine how the vehicle theft arrests would go up, then the thefts themselves would go down!
Screw that. They should have to pay 10x the value of the truck plus lost earnings plus repay the full cost of their time in jail plus court costs and police costs. Make them have to do something in jail such as washing clothes for hospitals or some other service that they are paid hourly at minimum wage but have to also pay taxes on those earnings. After having to work for 10 to 20 years at minimum wage to pay everything back, when released from prison they would probably think twice about stealing someones lively hood. .
This is why when you call the police in a situation like this and they tell you to stop following them and let them handle it, NO, you keep following them until you see them definitively stopped.
I would be terrified to be driving around town in a stolen truck. Imagine the kind of person you have to be to drive around town in someone’s stolen truck…

Back in the early 80’s my Dad’s car was constantly stollen by teenagers taking it out for a joyride this went on for over a year, the cops would spot Dads car dumped once it ran out of fuel, they would ring the house to let Mum know where Dad can pick it up from and to take a Jerry can with him. They finally caught the teens who was doing it, they got sent to juvenile detention without a court hearing as it turned out they were out on parole, because they broke their parole agreement they had to spend the full sentence back in detention, the worst part was they really screwed up because they were 17 but still had 3 years left to serve, the minute they turned 18 they were moved to the adult prison to server out the rest of their sentence, that also meant they no-longer had a court sealed records as juveniles and as such they were placed in the system as adults. It was not a fancy car it was just an old ford cortina. Just glad it was never crashed or burned out like most cars in the area had been. Was glad when Dad finally traded it in for a van. Dad did make the point of telling the local cops that he had sold the car so that the new owners were not pulled over.
