I do indeed have a 53e. Manufactured in 1951, fitted with a Purdey pad. Simply magnificent

Used to own a 53 sidelock with 32" barrels in the same condition, retaining 97% case hardening and still with factory set full & 3/4 choking. A touch on the heavy side because they're a live pigeon gun with reinforced lock-up via the side clips. Excellent balance and minimal felt recoil🙂

I’ve a no.53 and absolutely love it, made 1980 and in mint condition, I do most of my game shooting however with an AYA best quality boxlock, which is lighter and quicker

25 yrs ago - I bought a cased #53 with 2 sets of 28" barrells #1 : IC + M & #2: IM + F ! £850 with from fathers legacy ! Had to sell it to raise funds at the turn of the century _ never been so unhappy about having to let something go ! I've continued my thorough enjoyment - collection- of AyA guns , with 2 x OU County SLE's 3"/28" (rare) - A No3 SbS Magnum 3"/30" & -A 1962 No.31(Olympic) 3"/30" OU POW stock, heavily engraved ( probably handmade) boxlock, which I shoot regularly & unbiquirous Yeomans - one of each type !

I bought my AYA #53 Sidelock 12 gauge, 28", ¼ & ½, 15" stock from Doug & David Florent. It is a magnificent gun, beautifully made (colour hardened), in excellent condition, very well balanced, so it handles like a dream and it can cope with any load.

David uses all of the correct words but not necessarily in the correct order. Priceless! I coach life skills, presentation being one among them. Thank you for the how-not-to example.
On a different note; pointing out the difference or similarity to the No1, No2 or 56 for example might have been interesting and informative.

    Hi.
I have 2 model 53 on my hand. Both with old silver action, and customised leather cases. Both are from 2003 and in mint condition.
The one in youre movie, are probably a custom ordered gun. Because they are originally engraved with "rose'n ribbon" engravings.😉

@tsc-the shooting channel. Dear Florent. Thanks to you I just bought 2 side slick AYA’s. A number 2 and a 25. I’m waiting for them. A friend sent an email to AYA. They were kind enough to send me the info the had on the to shotgun.
Thank you for the great videos! Side by Side are certainly not dead ! And as long as we talk about them. They are still alive.
I would be very great-full if you could be kind enough to make a video on the AYA XXV/SL. You did Made great videos on the Yeoman, the N°2, N°1 and even the N°53. Please I’m sure you have great exemples of the XXV Churchill Ribs.
I hope this message will find you well.
    Best regards.

Hi, I've recently bought a 53, I bought it from a friend who bought it in the late 70's and has fortunately kept it in mint condition. He was really honest with me saying he wasn't sure what model it was but possibly a no.2 ? However after a bit of research its definitely a 53 and love it. Is there any way I can find out more about my particular gun from its serial number? And I'm also unsure what value I should inform my insurance company. Great video bye the way I really appreciate your time and effort.

Contact ASI, the importers of AYA. You could also try choosing AYA themselves. A few photos and the serial number should get you some info.

    • @TSCTheshootingchannel

They are just something AYA did to make something different you don't need them but it it is just something nice.

Thank you for your reply, since your video I have taken time to read a little into the history of AYA as a gun producing company, the influence the King family had in encouraging them to produce English style side and boxlocks. If anyone is interested in the subject I would urge them to do the same. Best English sxs's played such an important part in all of this but AYA played a bigger part in bringing quality guns to the attention of those who would otherwise have to settle for second best.

Beautiful gun but I’m afraid I’d still shoot the hell out of it if I owned one . I bashed around 200 clays with my Essex sidey 1/4 and 1/2 chokes this Saturday gone . Cleaned and oiled it when I got home . I ran 7.5 28g to 3 36g through it . Steel and bismuth . A guns for shooting after all 😁 . I know I’m a philistine but the point is to shoot it not sit it on a shelf . Just me then , I’ll get my coat 🤣
