I really like the electric camper ambitions here, but… Mercedes wants me to pay 50+k € for a Renault with a cramped backseat, non existent dampening in the glove box, dials from a Dacia and a 45 kWh battery? I feel sorry for the sales department!
I feel sorry for the people at Mercedes who were assigned the T/EQT.
I can almost hear their depression as the higher ups tell them that no, they can’t add another battery or a fancy entertainment screen or drivers display :(

With 42kWh battery it's good as a city delivery van, but nothing more than that. That's unfortunate and I really wish to see a Caddy/Kangoo sized car with a 75kWh battery soon!
Imagine a 90kw battery! Plus a high efficiency engine. Man that would be epic

45 kWh puts it just above the gross capacity of a late-model BMW i3. For a van that presumably weighs a lot more and has significantly more frontal area. Ouch.

This 250km campervan will relieve you of your range anxiety. If you ran out of power and your van conked out. you can sleep comfortably in your van.
The only good thing about this car is the return to real dials for a/c control. Also Brabus needs to stick with tuning and leave camper conversions to Westfalia

Thomas this is is one of the best reviews you have done, i think you should do more camper van reviews as i am thinking about buying one. I like the front charging port but i think i would buy the ICE version as the range on the EV is not great. But i might wait for VW Buzz as a camper. But thanks Thomas a great review, Go Campervans.
I long for an "EQR". What an amazing thing the R-Class was.
With a big fat EV drivetrain that would be IT for me. Long wheelbase, obviously.
For the stationwagon driver who wants "more".

@@MaticTheProto if the r class was still around it would probably be near in price if not the same to the GLS. Keep in mind the R class has been discontinued for the last decade so just judging off inflation and what the old model use to cost that’s my bet. Electric cars are pretty new and almost always cost more. But I don’t see what $110k is to someone who’s already spending $95-$100k. PS I’m American and the EQS isn’t much more than a gls here. Figured I’d state that since I realized I’m commenting on a Europeans page
@@Carfan678 in Germany the eqs suv costs around 14k more than the gls. It might be cheaper in America as Mercedes only produces the huge suvs in Alabama since they don’t sell well anywhere else, so import costs might factor in here

Oh gosh... always had a 'thing' for mini-campers, even though I've never felt the urge to go buy one...!
I even had plans in my head for a Mini Van conversion way back when I was a teenager - I guess with thoughts of having the freedom of the open road and all that...
And, as welcome as this new entrant in to the EV marketplace is, I'm genuinely shocked that it only has a miserly 45kWh battery - ouch... Like you said, combining that with the low-ish DC rapid charging speed and it really doesn't make for a 'holiday' camper, does it... 😲
But, that interior on the full-size Marco Polo model... WOW... stunning design for such a small interior 😎
the place I go camping is about 120km from my home. Add few stops for beer, food, fishing bait and .. i wont be able to go back home. Oh, and im towing a 700kg boat.
Why not charge at the camping site?

I'm looking forward to EV camper-vans, but full-size vehicles. These small set-ups look good/fun in the showroom, but not for real-world camping where weather, dirt and bugs etc are all part of the experience.
These can be used for a weekend at a lake or something for couples while also serving as a daily driver.

Thomas, Mercedes needs to sell the T Class here in South Africa. They don’t have a reasonably priced, compact people mover here. It’s either you buy the massive and poorly specd Vito, or the Expensive Viano, or the impractical GLB. The T Class would be a spacious and usable compact vehicle.

Lack of rear legroom is ridiculous on the short wheel base for this style of vehicle.

Mercedes is notorious for making poor hybrids. But they're necessary in anticipation of the combustion engine ban. They're necessary for autonomy and for rationing a limited supply of batteries to more vehicles

@@autogefuehl but mine is a renault and a panel van and when they made my car they changed it to an option instead of standard. Now i had the news my statics corner lights where not fitted as wel. Renault blames the garage and the garage blames renault. A great experience for my first car i got to say.

Concept was so nice. It could be fantastic family car.I hopped for 80 kWh battery in LWB. Mercedes is lazy, no light baar in the back, no eq front. we end up with city only ordinary Renault

Well. This is a Plugin hybrid without the petrol engine ;-) make it a 90kwh pack for the same price and we can start talking.
Another company doing the cheap screen stuck on like an Ipad to the dash! It's a deal breaker for me! I will never buy a new car with this system, instead of intergrated into the dash like a real Auto should have and not a hazard for high impact accidents. I have a Golf an see that VW still make it intergrated so that's where I go for next update.

I thought the van was going to be called the EQV. This looks tiny in comparison.
And I cant believe it has that shifter. Same design as on my Mazda 5. Completely unnecessary on an EV.
If that range is 100% then its atrocious.

Such a small battery is a serious misstep and the poor rear legroom is unforgivable. This is an electric MPV for posers, the Vauxhall Combo Life Electric does a much better job for £20K less.
