I’m sure the battery will last a really long time 😂
It has a small diesel engine to extend the range.
Hope it works out better than Edmonton's electric busses.
Of course it does. Made in Europe. (Germany and Austria).
nah, put in service in January, retired in February.
@@SoyTu641 Sure they did lol
Nooooo!! Research child slavery in the Congo.
Just like the Electric Bus in Edmonton, out of 80 Bus, only 10 are suitable for service, not only they are very expensive to repair, the Company that Built them, Proterra, filed for bankruptcy.
Yep but this is Rosenbauer(not NA but the main Austrian devision) they are full on experts who developed this truck for about 10 years! And its already proven for example the city Basel in Switzerland is only running these trucks these days.
This truck is broke now
The fact they can fight a car fire without ever needing to step foot out of the vehicle is pretty huge.
Last time I checked electricity and water don't mix very well ..
Neither does a gas engine and water, that's why they design around the problem.
@@thirstbuster78it's worked for 100 years! Where have you been??
@@thirstbuster78 last time a checked a pouring water on diesel or gas engine doesn't ruin it.
It uses lithium batteries and lithium explodes when water touches it 🤷♂️
Yep and I wonder when there is a internal leakage where the water go into the battery compartment what's going to happen ? 😂
Built with Tesla in mind but since EV car fires take infinitely more water to extinguish they might want a bigger tank onboard
Is this thing still running?
Million dollar Ambulance chaser. Just another total waste of public tax dollars.
Awesome till you have a large fire and the trucks have to drive there , site there pumping and running everything for 24hrs hope they got a plug on site..
Way over priced. Must be an NDP government
Actually its not really. It has far more advantages than mentionend and the firefighters know whats best for them.
It's a municipal purchase, not a provincial one.
WE WILL SEE?
If there is an earthquake or just a big wind storm which knocked out the power for a day or 2 .. how could they change all the EV to attend emergency call?
Yes, you are right ..how will they charge it then
Huge waste. It has a diesel engine as well. LA folks don’t even charge theirs.
Small diesel engine as a backup. Rarely ever used.
@@PyroShields According to the folks in LA they don’t charge theirs. Just run it off diesel. If they marketed it as hybrid electric perhaps it would be more acceptable. Huge waste of money considering the cost. The electric school buses in Northern California were a huge waste. They just auctioned them for pennies on the dollar. Some with just 1,000 miles. Initial price was 3 times a much as a traditional bus. Taxpayers are tired of getting screwed.
@@08jk74x Share this source of yours. Sounds made up.
@@08jk74x Am I supposed to Google your made up nonsense. LOL. firetruck was purchased in 2022 and is still in service..
100km bro thats nothing what ??? Yo telsa help the mans out
Everybody singing the same old song, it is a great truck? is it? how many small children slaved to dig for the minerals to make the battery which can not be recycled ever. The whole idea of EVs is a con of epic proportions
Y
And it has already ben docked for REPAIRS.......
Looks like a bag of crap 🤣🤣
Broke down after a month
Wait until they have to repair it! 😂
They will not care about the repair costs because it will come out of the over worked tax payers pockets
Dream on.......I would rather see two regular trucks for the same price. twice the fire fighting power
And 10x range
@@CarLoverPhotography "...But the fumes!!1!1!" -Some leftie
@@SkaMaRtiSt1991 You're worried about fumes over safety and what is more environmentally friendly? Having an EV's on fire will release much more deadly toxic fumes than a combustion engine vehicle.
What a joke and a waste of money
Wow. Hopefully they have fast charging options.
in "operation"
lolllllllll
So, when this randomly catches on fire, will the fireman put it out themselves, or will they have to call another firehouse to help?
Just like when the odd diesel rig catches on fire, right?
😂😂😂😂Garbage
Can it put itself out when the battery catches on fire?
Internal combustion engined vehicles catch fire with greater frequency than electric vehicles. It's just electrical fires are much more dangerous and hard (impossible) to put out.
The fire better not be far away or have to run the pump long time
@@BC_Geoff How can you say that when there are way more combustion engine vehicles than EV's? , EV's are more likely to start on fire when they get into a collision because it will cause a short.
@@anthonydeleeuw per capita more ICE vehicles catch fire than EVs. ICEs don’t even need to be in a crash to catch fire. Do you know what per capita means? It happens so frequently that it barely gets reported on.
@@BC_Geoff EV haters will try to come up with excuse after excuse to bash EV's it's hilarious.
The commenters here are hilarious with their nonsense.
😂what happens when there is a fire and the power is out ? How will they charge it 😂😂
with the apbs it wont happen.
It goes 10 p0km I thought the main purpose of a fire truck was to pump water on to the fire. How long can it do that ?
300hp diesel onboard charges and handles water pumping.
100km range and 2 hours of pumping on battery. Diesel generator kicks in when battery is < 20% charged.
At least they were smart to order one to try it out unlike Brampton who ordered six
Wow. An electric fire truck that will likely catch fire!
What a waste of tax payers dollars, how can something like this stay charged, and pump water, take it back and get half your money back
it won't go 100km when it gets chilly
source?
Fire engines go out and come back, they don't need to do 100km. Either way, 300hp diesel onboard charges and handles water pumping.
@@zapfhahn6130 the tilt of the globe which causes a temperature drop in the winter in the northern hemisphere.
@@rhetoricalargumentation one never knows. The diesel on board defeats the purpose of wokie electric vehicles
Not really cause it will almost never be used. Its there only for extending calls which is highly unlikely to happen often. LAFD proved it.@@derek9658
For sure it's going to explode one day.
100 km on a single change … they will spend more time charging it than driving it. And costs “only” 500k more than a diesel truck. LOL Pathetic waste of taxpayers money, but Vancouver deserves all of it.
The video does not give you the full picture. The truck is electric yes but is actually has a lot more advantages than mentionend. But to be honest the firefighters now that because otherwise the would not want to have it.
It's not a pure EV. It has a 300 HP diesel motor that charges the battery when it's below 20%
Technically it is a full ev cause the power train is fully electric. The back up system so basically the motor is just there if they need to extend their operation time which is almost never the case. I belive the right term for this kind of vehicle is REEV.@@Lucky8s
fire trucks spend more time parked in the fire house than on scene or driving, so what's the problem?
if you vote con STOP
Lol are you allowed to use the internet without taking your meds ?
