  • After reconnecting with Stanley, I started re-watching some other shows. Playhouse Disney was one of the first channel blocks I remember watching. I forgot how relevant Playhouse Disney was to my childhood. They had a lot of underrated shows.

Playhouse Disney means so much to me. It seems like every single show on that programming block had an impact on me in some way. I also remember logging onto the Playhouse Disney website and just playing games on there for hours and hours. Man those were some good times! Bear in the Big Blue House was my favorite show and I can’t wait to rewatch it on Disney+ soon.

I literally cried at the end of this video. When they started singing that goodbye song, it struck a chord in my heart. Like time stood still as I heard this familiar tune and the memories started washing over me with a rush of nostalgia. For a very brief 5 seconds, it brought me back to a simpler time in my youth where all I had to worry about was drawing, watching cartoons, and going to sleep on time with the light on. Hearing it was like watching a chapter close on a beautiful time in my childhood. And I will miss it so much! Thank you Ghost for everything in this video. I'm still crying as I write this! Lol.

Prior to being in The Wiggles Anthony Field and Jeff Fatt were in a rock group in the 80s called The Cockroaches. Anthony went off to University to study childrens education. That's where Greg and Murray came into play. They all decided to make an album. At first it started small. Birthday Parties and malls. They were selling their own merch outta suitcases. They filmed home videos which eventually led them to getting a tv show. Worldwide fame happened when Disney started airing their stuff in the US.

    • @dannythehipster5644
      @dannythehipster5644 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

That's not necessarily what happened. Greg and Murray were in the same class as Anthony and Phil Wilcher (former fifth wiggle), and pulled Jeff in to record an album.
The Wiggles had worldwide fame even before Disney, with Lyrick studios distributing products in 1999, and soon after relief work following 9/11.

PB&J Otter: I remember watching this one a couple times, especially that song they played for a Mother's Day episode.
Rolie Polie Olie: My dad has kind of a special attachment to this one. If memory serves me correctly, my Grandaddy (my dad's dad) introduced this to our family and we would watch it with him. I do remember, though, that Pappy was the best character. Looking back after years of not watching it, this show look freaking adorable!
JoJo's Circus: I actually liked this own. From what I can remember, it was about JoJo going to a "clown school" in order to learn how to be a good clown. Also, I thought the little lion cub, Goliath, was cute.
Little Einsteins: Boy, that theme song!
Madeline: Yeah, I can't remember watching this own either.
Charlie and Lola: I actually liked this one, but I kind of remember the storytelling game more than the actual show. Lola would refuse to eat her fish sticks and peas so Charlie would convince her to eat them by pretending they're exotic birds or pirates' treasure and stuff like that. Alot of the Playhouse Disney shows had this kind of game on their website.
Bear in the Big Blue House: Bear in the Big Blue House was to my older brother what Stanley was to me. It was his staple. He loved it! He even had his own stuffed Bear toy.
The Wiggles: I do remember the hot potato song but I don't remember once seeing them on Playhouse Disney. But I do remembering having a DVD where the Wiggles visit the Australia Zoo and hang out with the late Steve Irwin.
The Doodlebops: This one I do remember watching. The one thing I remember most was a running gag where a rope would just appear out of no where and one of the three main characters was just so compelled to pull it but then something bad or goofy would happen to him like get a pie in the face or something.
Out of the Box: Sadly, I don't remember watching this one that much.
So yeah, I consider myself being raised by Disney. Others that I loved watching were Higglytown Heroes, The Koala Brothers, and of course, my man Stanley!

The Wiggles have had 4 iterations. The Greg (1991-Nov. 2006, 2012), Sam (November 2006 - January 2012), Emma era (2013 - 2021), and the Tsehay era (2022 - present). The Wiggles were brought into Playhouse Disney due to their knowledge of preschool education and music, and were very popular in America following their relief work following 9/11. They were apart of the channel from June 2002 to May 2009.

As it is, I vividly remember watching all content that Playhouse Disney dished out from '99 til 2011 (I was a toddler then, but I do remember some stuff to my credit). Sure I eventually put it together that I was getting "too old" for a lot of the shows from the mid to late 2000s, but I still watched them, purely because of my oldest and second oldest nieces (who by 2011 were 4 and 1). They watched Disney Junior and I babysat most of the time. I actually felt *pain* the day Disney Junior was announced to be replacing Playhouse Disney. Some of my personal favorites from Playhouse Disney were Bear in the Big Blue House, PB & J Otter, Stanley, The Wiggles (U.S. run), Out of the Box and Higglytown Heroes.

Thank you so much for making this video. Unfortunately, PB&J Otter gets very little attention and it’s probably my favorite animated show of all time. It’s great to see someone talk about it in depth. I’m actually good friends with Jim Jinkins and we’re both trying our best to get the show on Disney+. One of the reasons I love the show so much is because the style resembles the Disney Afternoon shows since PB&J was also done by Disney Television Animation.

I also loved The Wiggles, Stanley, Rolie Polie Olie, JoJo's Circus, Higglytown Heroes, Madeline, PB&J Otter, Out of the Box, The Book of Pooh, and of course, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
A friend of mine actually has recordings of Playhouse Disney before the block was even called that from Early 1998. The shows in the recordings include Bear in the Big Blue House, Adventures in Wonderland, Katie and Orbie, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, Jungle Cubs, Madeline, and The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
I was curious, do you remember Discovery Kids and The Hub? I wasn't much of a Discovery Kids watcher (Though my brother loved a few of the shows on there), but I started watching the Channel all the time once it became The Hub (Unfortunately, the Channel only lasted for four years)

In the early 2000s The Wiggles were touring with two crew buses and 2 buses for their equipment! Folks would follow the buses from town to town. The Wiggles were the only foreign act invited to perform at the Macy's Parade after 9/11. Most of the classic Wiggles videos are on youtube. Highly recommend Top Of The Tots, Wiggle Bay, and Wiggly Safari. Super high energy. Wiggly Safari was filmed at Australia Zoo with Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter.

Madeline was one of my biggest obsessions from when I was 5-7, and even after I moved on to other things, I still loved the show. It feels like a franchise that people usually forget was somewhat popular in the '90s because in addition to the animated show, the live action movie, and the made-for-TV movie, Lost in Paris, there was a series of educational computer games and a doll line.

I absolutely kid you not, the Wiggles are definitely an empire of children’s media! There like the biggest children’s band/musical group in the world. They’re not like the Doodlebops at all. They’re an Australian icon since the 90’s.

I miss Playhouse Disney! It's way better and more educational than everything on now. My favorites were Bear in the big blue house and Stanley.

Honestly, the last time i remember seeing playhouse disney was in september of 2010 right before we left for a trip to disney for my 4th birthday (which was a few days before). We even went to a playhouse disney live show. Then my next memory of the block was the day the rebrand happened. I remember throwing a fit because they got rid of Ooh and Aah...honestly im still satly about that. Ooh and Aah was unparalleled and now it's lost media (well some of the bumpers are).

I swear, I think out of the three big channels (being Cartoon Network, Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior, and Nick JR/Nickelodeon but four if you want to count PBS Kids) I think Disney was my main channel and the most iconic shows for me were the following:
    Handy Manny (most specially)
Rollie Polly Ollie (probably butchered the name spelling)
Jungle Junction (although I was a tad bit old for the target demographic but I enjoyed it)
    My friends tigger and Pooh
    Imagination Movers
    Little Einsteins
    And
    Jojo’s Circus
(I think Charlie and Lola as well but I didn’t watch it as much as the other shows mentioned)

I had a red Mickey Mouse TV when I was little the ears were the speakers I miss it damn 😩 I watch some of these shows like Little Einsteins, The Doodlebops and Jo jo the clown (that’s probably why I’m scared of people in costumes and clowns and I’m finna 20 soon🙈😭)

..oh man, rolie polie olie and pb&j were my jam! (pun not intended) and recently i've been rewatching little einsteins cause i remember always loving the parts where they interacted with paintings and wanted to know the names of them along with the fire classical music heard throughout each episode. and boy, you got me tearing up when the goodbye songs from out of the box and the bear in the big blue house started playing. playhouse was the GOAT compared to disney junior

Not only is Playhouse Disney the source of some of my current fixations (Stanley and PB&J Otter which thanks for the shoutout on the latter btw) it was also a big part of my childhood I had the good shit like Little Einsteins and Handy Manny (Which I still like Handy Manny to this day lol) and yet people do not talk about it the same way they do PBS Kids and Nick Jr so im glad people share my sentiment on the channel being underrated

There are 4 Generations. For some reason people forget about Sam who replaced Greg from Late 2006 to the end of 2011.
Also the thumbnail includes the 3rd generation even though they were never on Playhouse Disney.
    Please do research on them.

I like how Playhouse Disney has different types animation and not all was 3D. Some of them were puppetery and live-action. A majority of Disney jr shows are 3D animations.

I fuckin loved watching Playhouse Disney on Disney Channel, especially during the summer months and on the weekends, although I watched it during the 'Ooh & Aah' era. Bear in the Big Blue House, Rolie Polie Olie, Imagination Movers, Handy Manny, Special Agent Oso, Choo Choo Soul, Jungle Junction, My Friends Tigger and Pooh, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Higgleytown Heroes, and Little Einsteins were my favorite shows! Fuckin miss Playhouse Disney, bro!
