In Brazil "Spirited Away" was translated as "Chihiro's trip"(A viagem de Chihiro). We don't have a word for being kidnapped by a god, but we have the legend of the of the Sack man/Bag man, a man with a sack on his back who carries naughty children away. The legend evolved with time:
Originally he only took the children away to a far land, then he sold the children to charcoal mines to work as slaves, and now the works for an international children's organ smuggling gang.

All jokes aside- one thing I actually genuinely love about this channel is how you manage to go into the details of every possible little thing. You focus on the main theme, sure, but you also give tiny additional bits of information that add more detail to the story.

This happens in the Hmong culture too. Sometimes ghosts or spirits will appear in dreams, trying to take them away to the spirit world (meaning person would die in their sleep). It is especially a bad omen if you dream about dragons. There’s other things like if you fall in a river/lake your “spirit” falls into the water too so it needs to be called back by releasing a duck into the water and having it swim back. There’s also warnings that ghosts can attach themselves to you and follow you home. People would get sick and need a ritual done by a shaman to get better. These beliefs still continue today.
I think its interesting that what he said about the temperature fluctuating depending on how high you are is true to some degree. Im not an expert but i remember learning about it in science class
Kappa (4:14) have a seriously dark history. In the Tohoku region centuries ago, famine regularly wiped out swaths of the population. Things would get so desperate that new mothers would sacrifice their infants so there would be less mouths to feed. A common practice was to take them to a stream at night and perform a ritual that would turn the child's spirit into a kappa. It ended with her crushing the infant's skull saying the words 'A kappa needs a place for it's water.' Kappa are depicted with a water filled indentation on the top of their heads. To this day there are rituals at some shrines called water child ceremonies for the spirits of lost or miscarried infants.
Interestingly accurate description of the atmospheric temperature (although you wouldn't actually feel hot, the atmosphere is still very hot)

That's neat about the age of seven thing. In ancient Rome, a child was considered an infant until the age of seven because that was the general age of when a child's baby teeth would come out, or at least start to. I think maybe the Japanese had the same sort of logic in that childhood transition.

We Mizos also have similar folktales like the Yamaotoko(mountain man) that you have mentioned in this video...they were used to be commonly worshipped by sacrificing animals like pigs,dogs and chickens to cure diseases (they didn't have hospitals back then). They are also known for stealing men and women

There are several tales of little people/dwarves (dwende) spiriting children away or attempting to do just that. One of my aunts in my father's side told me that she was often visited by these dwende folk that no one else seemed to see but her (it is said that the dwende folk like to prey on meek and quiet children). They would speak in a weird language and would try to offer her food. She would always refuse. She eventually told her parents and they promptly called on the local witch doctor who had to do a ritual on her that involved smoke (not too sure on the details of how they did it). One day, they stopped coming by.

Well in malaysia there is a kes that a boy got missing in the forest, so everyone tried to find him even the soldiers and he never came back.
The exorcise or a prayer(i forgot) said that he might been spirited away by the jins.(if yoy don't know about jins, jins are like things that disturd you at night which is very annoying but they can posses you if you're near)

These are similar to Celtic stories about Sidhe (pronounced "Shee") beings who steal children and young women and replace them with changelings. Although these stories have been softened a bit in Victorian fairy stories like Peter Pan, in the old stories the child isn't always returned, and the parents (or in the most recent case of Sidhe abduction in the late 1800s, the husband) often abuse or kill changelings, who were often just sickly or differently abled.I am pretty sure that I might have been thought a changeling had I been born before my family immigrated to Canada because I am on the autism spectrum.
ASD kids are basically changelings though if you think about it. We aren't typical babies

Is no one talking about how they basically walked into a city filled with macabre furries
in indonesia we have Nyi Roro Kidul (Lady Roro of the South), she is a spirit or a goddess believed by the javanese people as the ruler of southern Java sea, the myth is if you wear green colored clothes and go to southern beach or coast in Java island, she will send strange waves and winds to drag you to the ocean and become servant of her. because she loves green color.
and stupidly, some men make an event to storm Parangtritis beach, a beach at the south of Jogjakarta city, and wear green clothes. they copy the storming Area 51 event

I think many cultures have this concept. In Malay culture there exists "orang bunian"s. Instead of being divine beings, they're just like people, only that they live in their own realm that overlapped ours. They like to take away men instead of kids, and marry their daughters to them. As recently as a few months ago there was a case of a missing hiker, said to be spirited away by bunian. Mediums that contacted the bunian realm said that the man no longer wants to leave the bunian realm as he's already married to a bunian, and that happened only weeks into his disappearance.
In Islam there are the Jinns, which I postulate is the same analogy to both these kamis and the bunians.

its funny how here in Bali we use to do that to! when a kid got lost while play in a rice fields or rain forest,the elders say they got kidnap by spirit! the only way to get the kid back is to do a loud noises like metal object or hit a bamboo bell and yell "come home" or "bring back my kid" xD but nowadays they don't do that anymore because most of rice field become private property for villa or hotel!
