question: how do you get such a clean finish? My plates and bowls always end up a bit fuzzy, no matter how sharp are my tools and how hard and dense the wood is.
I made a video on how I turn plates similar to this one, you might find it helpful. It's hard to say what your issue is without seeing you turn and looking at your tools. I will say, I used to think my hooks were sharp, then later on I realised they really weren't. Sometimes there is one dull spot that does the majority of the turning, so you need to check that every point along the edge has been addressed, and often. I sharpen several times per bowl / plate nowadays.
They look great! Love you work!
Thanks!

It can also just be the wood. Some timbers are naturally fuzzy.
apply oil with brush, wipe of excess with rag. that way 90% of oil wont end up in rag.
These plates really soak it up, I tried a few different ways, just didn't include all of them.
