I would say that they are useful and not cheating...that’s my point of view...just another tool in the toolbox to use when needed for specific tasks to get from a to b then customize to fit the song you are working on with them.
That's my feeling, too. Bearing in mind dance music comes from a heritage of sampling and re-purposing anyway, in my view it's the end result that matters, and anything that helps you get there faster is a good thing.

Thanks for the review. I have a basic set up (Maschine Micro 3 & Launchkey 25 keyboard), I just like making beat music for myself. I have found not knowing music theory or having piano skills has held me back from having fun. This software will help me, so a big thumbs up from me.

Hiya, Is there any way one can stop non-diatonic chord options being shown in the alternative chord section? I thought the whole point was that without knowing every scale off by heart one could happily jam away knowing all the notes in your chords will always be a in key but this isn't the case. Presently if I'm in G# phrygian and the 3rd chord in my progression is a EMaj and I want to see what it would sound like as a E7 or E9 or Sus4 there seems to be no way to tell if either of them contain non-diatonic notes or not without knowing the diatonic notes that make up G# phrygian already.

Sure, When you're on play tab click on the drop-down menu and select "All-Notes" which allows you to actually play the chords yourself. (make sure you're record enabled and track monitoring is set to Auto to hear anything though)

I am an inexperienced pianist, so in my production process I like taking the notes/patterns which emerge from the plugins--finding them and playing them on the keyboard and adding my own creations--even if just for macro/micro fills.

If you are watching this video 4 years later (like I do), note that majority of inconveniences mentioned by the author are already gone (e.g. it is easy to adjust length of chords without touching others, you can move manually single notes, define your own groups like verse, bridge etc. and so on). So if those were deal breakers for you, they're gone now.
I cannot seem to hear my recorded work from captain through my DAW? I can hear the captain chords separately when not playing on DAW. I can even see the recorded captain clips on my DAW but there is NO AUDIO. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Useful thanks! Don't think these type of plugins are cheating, as they are not total AI type stuff - they still need some input, and you can tweak them to your heart's content. I only just got the suite, and in two minds still....!
I just downloaded the plugin and bought from the main dealer, but think its going to be big help to song creations, now i make a lot of progressive trance and this going defintly help on coming up with new melody and song ideas, now this is excellent video, i have subscribed, as i have over 20 years music theory and singing behind me, with my own music i have trouble finding what key voice is in, but with captain plug ins it is certainly help and your lessons i use fruity loops 12, i thought you explained this very well for i could understand, Thankyou

I see it as a workflow tool. It stops you from being creative at no level. It is not a blocker. you are always free to go beyond. i.e. you can insert the chords you want, the sounds you want. the melodies you want, the bass you want, the beats you want. And I often do anyhow. it's AI at your service as a musician. and at that it's a wonderful thing. (For now at least)

It'll last you five minutes, but it is good for a tool to learn how things fit together for a beginner. Problem is as soon as you actually want to start adding your own things, its very inhibiting. If anything it slows the process down. This is not creative, its not you. And that is it's biggest fault. You may as well buy a midi pack.
If you are using it to help inspire ideas for your own creation then thats one thing, but if you are just using all the pre-generated stuff as it is then that is not your creation and i definitely feel that its cheating imo.
I agree with your opening sentence, but I disagree with the rest. IMO, there's no cheating when it comes to the modern technology tools and creating music. Even if you use pre-generated stuff, and you're trying to bang out a quality tune, for a music supervisor, you STILL have to have the structure of the track on point. It has to flow just right (like the force). If it doesn't, you'll remain a padiwan and never become a Jedi Master.

You say only 64 bit but why was I offered both 32 and 64 bit installers in the windows installer?
I don't know...I was just told 64 bit by the guys and gals at MixedInKey

I don’t even use it because there’s no midi editing. That’s just crazy in 2019. Once they add it, I will use it again
You can edit the midi once you move it to your daw.
