In the video I mention that there is a new version of the Official Study Guide coming out soon. I was MISTAKEN. I was confusing it with another book I just read. I'm sorry. I was wrong.
Congrats first of all Jeremiah! I dont think Firepower is garbage. the last few updates have proven that Firepower has a long way to go, I absolutely root for it.
I’m a Cisco TAC engineer in the VPN space, so goodluck on sVPN! I think the concentration exams have been the most annoying part of my studies, honestly. Things are moving so fast that by the time you’ve studied it, there’s a whole other blueprint lined up for you to tackle. I love reading books but things are flying by. Might just start reading through configuration guides and skipping out on books at this point, lol. I typically like using a single, encompassing resource but this doesn’t seem like the case anymore.
I noticed the same on their security products coming back around. Firewall is finally coming around and might be righting the ship FINALLY. (I hope anyway). 7.0 code is where things started to slowly change and 7.4 not bad at all. I agree that it will take about 2 years for the portfolio to mature. Time will tell. I made my early career off Cisco so hope they can get it right on the security side. Integrating the network with security now days is paramount.
Congrats! I'd advise you to do Palo Alto next. I think you will like the product. Where I am in Europe everything and everyone is running Palo Alto or preparing to do so. You can go straight to the PCNSE exam if you are interested.
Or Checkpoint. Probably depends on where you are, but I'd say Palo are quite overhyped. Every Palo employee is a salesman, and their marketing teams are at all the conferences and events. Just my 2 cents.
You mentioned in the video that you felt like you barely passed so I figured i'd crunch the numbers for you. Per Google the minimum passing score is 75%. This was your score: Deployment = 30% (89%) = 26.7% Configuration = 30% (78%) = 23.4% Management = 25% (80%) = 20% Integration = 15% (44%) = 6.6% Final Score = 76.7% So yes your feeling was correct.
Congrats! I think FMC/FTD is awesome! I’ve used it since 6.2. ASA with FirePOWER module managed by ASDM was painful though! Maybe that’s what all the haters remember! I guess people just like what they are most familiar with…
Congratulations!! Your story has been an inspiring one. I started in Cisco World in 2005...by 2013 I had my CCNP R|S then life happened. I had to pivot to databases and ERPs. I am getting back to my first love with CCNA in a few weeks. What would be your advice on the best career path today if you had to give a path what would that look like (CCNA--> CCNP ent? CCNP sec)
As always, I recommend looking at job postings and use that to guide your path. That aside, I'd do CCNA then AWS Network Engineer (or whatever it's called) then go back to CCNP.
I had to do what I had to do to keep the family afloat and pay bills etc. I am now at a point where I want to do what really excites me and I can take this decision now without too much risk if this makes sense.@@bitsofdataio and data analytics will be a good skill set to bring into networking/cloud/security I do not think all is lost. skills are usually transferable
I had some hot takes that potential employers may not like. Reviewing an applicant's internet presence is now a standard part of the hiring process and I didn't want to hurt my chances.
I was wondering where did you see that there are going to release a new version of the book? I know that they will update the blueprint/exam. I will start with the other ressource first. Just finished my ccnp/enarsi. :)
I went to check and I guess I was confused. It looks like I was thinking about the Wireless Design ENWLSD 300-425 and Implementation ENWLSI 300-430 book. (I also just read that book, but set it aside to do the firewall test and to build a wireless lab.)

Cisco needs to burn FX-OS to the ground. I configured a couple dozen Firepower 9300 firewall appliances out of the box and that OS is terrible. They really need just one unifying OS like Juniper has with JunOS.
🎉 hi Jeremiah, i dont recall you mentioned about octanetworks for your ccie study. They are claiming you for success stories. Something you got paid for?
@@jeremiahwolfe I was thinking to go with them for my ccie prep. But this act explains a lot about their ethics. What a piece of joke. Wonder how many they claim is legit
Congrats Jeremiah! I'm always impressed by the speed at which you read docs and learn new tech. I'm on the CCIE path and it is taking a lot of time just to get through the TCP vol1/2 books. I have good retention though. I wonder if you have any advice to help on learning / reading speed ? I think you had a video on that but it got deleted iirc.
Please don't be confused! I read very slowly. I have always been a slow reader. My "secret" is that I study. I don't watch TV, or movies. I don't play video games. I don't watch sports. I don't hang out with friends, or go out to the pub. All of my free time is spent studying. Now to be clear I do take time for myself when I'm not studying. After I finished the CCIE, I didn't study anything for 3 months. I watched plenty of stuff and spend A LOT of time playing Baldur's Gate 3. And 18:00 to 20:00 every day is just for my wife and son. But, when I'm studying, I'm in bed by 22:00 and up at 4:00 with all free time studying. There are tons of TH-cam channels devoted to study skills/habits. I don't have one to recommend, but I'm sure you'll find good info out there. (Also, I'm a human being, so while what I said is true, it's also an ideal which I do often fall short of. So be realistic.)

Love the CCIE Plaque on the wall. Noticed it immediately. Very nice

Congrats for your new job and New Certifcate. I am still studying PCNSE. Planning to change company for better salary and benefits after passing it.
Congrats thanks for sharing your experience!
Congrats, happy for you :)

Nothing is gonna stop you !! man , I admire that, let's do it again with fortinet!
Congratulation man 😃

Congratulations on passing.
Thanks for the insight I’m looking into this certification myself and don’t know what to expect or if it’s even worth it

Why would you want to leave databases and go back to networking. More jobs in data analysis these days, no? Asking because I'm on the same boat.

Good call! for whatever it’s worth, I really appreciated your wisdom and candidness in those videos. Best of luck to you and happy holidays.
Yeah Palos are a bit more preferred over FP

No. I asked them to remove me, but they've just ignored my requests. I guess they figure my miniscule following might get them another sale or two.

Look the difference how organized his room is right now..hahah, totally different life after CCIE.
Did you take the security core
is there any repository for Cisco epub books?
Were there simulations on the test? Also, where did you get the virtual firewall?
No simulations on my exam. There was very...very little CLI, and simulating the GUI is probably too difficult.
The images are...out there.
@@jeremiahwolfe ok. Thanks for the reply!
Hi Jeremiah, any plans for CCIE Security?
Seems unlikely at this moment.
are there only theoretical questions or also a configuration part to this exam?
There are many questions about how to configure something, but there are no simulations.
