    Thank God, a TH-camr who doesn’t take Hermes side on this. Keep it real… time for change. Charge $30k for your bags and stop making people buy thousands of dollars in sushi plates.

      They created a rod for their own backs, as we say. They MADE years of commission paperwork to prove this happens.

      Honestly, I pray the TH-camrs who are for Hermes on this loose their viewers. Why? They’re clearly disconnected from their viewers. So they should learn how their viewers feel about not being able to get a Berkin or a Kelly, by not getting the views they want. Then they will see how it feels to desire something, and not be able to get it even though they feel like they should be able to get that desired thing. That’s essentially what Hermes is doing. They just benefit from the system so they like it. Once they don’t benefit from the system, oh how their views will change. So, change their views, by changing their views.

    I live in Orlando and I have spent close to $70,000 US dollars at Hermes in the Millenia Mall. I was manipulated to believe my SA will offer me a Birkin 25. She went as far to sit with me and went through the detail about my wishlist and enter all the info into an iPad. Two years went by and now and 3. I haven’t been my offer. Each time she would offer me to purchase a croc leather watch and some jewelry and I was led to believe I’m closer to getting an offer. I would consider joining in a bandwagon and file a suit against Orlando Hermes boutique. I felt really cheated.

    Just about 10 years ago, I walked into an hermes boutique for the 1st time, inquired about a birkin and this beautiful and kind SA informed me that she can take a note of my wishlist but wanted me to know that bags are offered to those who truly love and appreciate the brand.
    I purchased 2 scarves six months apart, and literally under a year I was offered the exact birkin I asked for.
    I purchased a couple more items that I truly loved, and was offered a Kelly within another year. Just to put into perspective, to obtain my two bags, I probably spent no more than $2500 in total in a matter of 3 years… and got two bags.
    Too bad my SA retired and now with my new SA, not soo lucky. But that’s okay, I still continue to buy what I truly love and refuse to play the Hermes game. It’s been over 6 years now since my last quota bag and I’m okay with it. If a bag is to be offered , fine, If not, still fine.
    There are so many other bags out there besides Hermes and Chanel that’s completely worth it and at a fraction of the price and looks super luxurious without branding all over it.
    Life is too short to be caught up in material things, I do love luxury for sure but as we age , we really have to take a step back and prioritize what’s the most important thing… health and family.

    I just watched Jerusha's video on this...I love her and repsect her opinion but I was definitly shocked with her sidding with Hermes and basically saying these women got their knickers in a knot and should get over it. I left her a long msg and we're friends...like I said, its ok to not always agree with your friends on everything. I reminded her that she once ran her own retail business and at the end of the day this comes down to something very simple and that is...the law. Hermes has been allowed to blatantly operate outside of the law for many years. They CHOOSE to do business under a set of laws and regulations that are in place to protect two parties, those are the consumers AND the employees. Hermes should not be given a pass for operating outside of the law, there is a whole lot of that going around lately and honestly...this is how a society falls into a lawless society. I mean if we dont hold Hermes to account for such an atrocious abuse of power then...why should be expect they will treat their own employees any better? The biggest mark up/profitable item they sell are the quota bags and yet...they cant find a few shillings out of that huge profit to pay the associate who sold it, or...pay them all a decenet living wage + good benifits and scrap the commission program all together, which most retailers did a decade ago. I've been in retail in Canada for over 30 years, I retired at a very senior ex. Level position, I can assure you that everyone at the tippy top at Hermes understands VERY well how they are treating their customers, the lies, the promise of a bag if you spend "x" . Meanwhile their top executives take home millions a year in salary + bonuses etc. Stop playing their "game" ...is my advise to all Hermes consumers, be better than that. They are abusing their power in a horrific way and it needs to stop.

    Absolutely 1 million percent agree w/ everything you’ve just said …. Racial profiling a huge issue, without a doubt, Asian clients hugely favored in the West Coast. I’ve been an Hermes client for yrs. & made so many purchases online, shopped multiple boutiques in LV, CA, Hawaii, Europe. Yet, when I tried to ask about a “possibility” of getting a bag, it was such a nasty response that really puts a tainted mark on the entire brand. So I turned to a reseller and got me my bag. I just don’t need to deal with the nastiness of these uncultured unethical SAs.

I always knew you were the realist, this is just 100% proof. Hermes are the king of tied sales. Rolex and Chanel etc are following Hermes’s lead. I have friends that work for Hermes. This is definitely happening guys. And you’re right they know we know and we know that they know we know lol. I hope the lawsuit brings to light how company wide and top down this really is. I love bags. I have always loved bags. I always will love bags. But I will never own an Hermes. I think their selling practices are appalling.
    I will stick to vintage and spend much closer to the actual value of the item. Tbh the ethics of the larger design houses is effing disgraceful and the companies set customer against customer and take the (pee) putting prices up for absolutely no reason!! It is totally unacceptable and I hope this lawsuit is successful.
    I will stay in my lane and have lovely buying experiences in the 'pre-loved' arena from delightful people, mainly ladies, with whom I can have a laugh and enjoy the experiences with no snobbery and quotas and all that jazz! Great show for pointing all this out. Thanks.

    My regular sales associate is an absolute gem, I have never felt pressured to buy anything with her ever. I’m definitely not one of the higher spenders in the store but I’ve gotten multiple quota bags and other sought after ones from the store.
    I went overseas to an Asian country for a holiday and was explicitly told by the SA that I would need to spend a certain amount of money for a bag to appear. I was absolutely appalled, it made me not want to buy anything at the store.
    I think it really depends on the store, the country and SA.

    I've personally invested some in my just like you I only buy the things I really want and will always love them because my husband's last name starts with H. While on my journey, I straight asked my SA during Christmas if a bag was coming and if not, I'm going to Chanel after for my mini Reissue. That's what I did exactly when he said no. Just earlier this month, I didn't even bother asking and bought a second bag, mini 22, from Chanel and visited my SA after that appointment with my big box. I told my SA I was just passing by and thought to drop by to see if there were any bags. I figured they didn't have it so already bought from Chanel but just in case. Sure enough he didn't have one and said I need to look at jewelry. Ha! You're not making me a clown!!

    Great discussion Erica. I think that Ultimately we are responsible for allowing companies to get away with these practices. True, It should be more standardized and clear just like other companies such as Ferrari or Rolex. But those and other companies do this and admit it and no one has a problem with it. I’m sure H’s argument would be, and I’ve heard it said, that they sell their most coveted bags to customers who show love and loyalty to the brand. And that means buying their other products. I’ve never heard of anyone having to buy any particular product, just anything that would sell for a large amount of money. Just spend a lot. For everyone who says that I will not play the game, I’ll just buy preloved. Well that is in essence supporting the game also. Because someone else played the game to get the bag to sell. So it does perpetuate it. So it’s still working for H. I’m not saying it’s good or bad. I’m just pointing out that it’s a cycle that we are all perpetuating if we buy even preloved. I am a customer myself and I buy only what I love. Not interested in home goods or most of their fine jewelry, but I love other products. If I get offered a B that I really like I’ll buy it. If I don’t like it, I’ll pass. In the end H couldn’t do what they do unless we supported it. I am interested to see how this all plays out.

    I don't understand why any self-respecting person would put up with Hermes' treatment. If I sported a Birken or Kelly, the idea of everyone knowing what kind of booklicking I had to do to get one would be absolutely embarrassing. Neither Birken nor Kelly really liked the bags, and I think they're ugly, too.
    If you love the bag THAT much, then go for it. But if your motivation is for any other reasons, I'd question your sanity and suggest professional help.
    Hermes understands ''snob appeal'' and they know how to play the game. You can take away their power by removing yourself from the equation.

    I think the plaintiffs will win their lawsuit in the USA based on violations of anti-trust laws and possibly extortion and anti-discrimination laws. Retailers the size of Hermes really can't open shops where it turns customers away it don't consider worthy of buying its products or make it clear, wink, wink, customers must buy expensive stuff they don't want to be offered a bag they came in to buy. I'm surprised it took so long to sue Hermes.

    I definitely think that there are a variety of standards adopted by different staff within and amongst boutiques: some staff can smell out who they can milk for more commission and can be greedy. The sales associates and managers are the gatekeepers, irrespective of what Hermes corporate establishes as policy. So some clients just have a terrible experience and are strung along to spend. And when you’re so deep into it, it’s difficult to abandon the “journey” because you’ve already spent so much.
    I see this as a personal message between the clients and their particular store. Regardless, Hermes will likely throw the staff under the bus and settle.
    Yes, I say this as well: there is no need to stick with an SA and/or store of you don’t feel taken care of. They don’t deserve your business. Some people feel they need to commit to their local store. I know people who don’t give their local store 2 cents and fly across the country or the ocean to a boutique and SA that gives a damn about them and fights for them!
    Luxury brands make money by playing with our emotions.

      Unfortunately, I'm in that situation where I feel I am being string along just to keep spending, and my SA already knows they'll never offer me a bag. Yet, I'm in it too deep to want to take the risk of starting new elsewhere, not knowing whether I'll be unlucky and end up with another greedy SA.

    To me the resell value of the items (street or true value) required to purchase is the problem. Eeeveryone is getting a kick back in that system all the way to the cow feed store. I'm sure as you say the case is not strong enough but the attention may wake up some customers. Yes, we all love Hermes bc we are supposed to yet we hate those cheap sushi plates. 🤣 I will buy pre - loved if ever right now I'm too busy buying from other brands. Life is too short to play games.

    I agree on everything but there one point I want to highlight, saving every dollar, going on debt, use all your credit card limit for a bag, yes is JUST a bag a piece of leather, Im sorry those people are not meant to have that, this is a luxury item, and is just a basic looking bag, you can find something identical without written Hermes at ross for 19.99, whatever if you are a millionaire and have loads to spare go for it, I wouldn’t buy bag not even for 500, I genuinely don’t understand the hype feels like a laptop carry bag, 99% of birkin costumer seeks attention, validation, Hermes is a nice brand but this birkin/kelly obsession is ridiculous

    Shopping has to maje you happy with what you got. When it makes you so anxious, when you hate yourself for buying you don't love and there is no guarantee of the end goal and journey is not pleasant - is it really worth it? Seriously? You can get so many other unique designer things that will make you standout as real fashionista and not just "label chaser".

    I'm one of the leather good worker and this story is making me laught a lot, 3000 birkin are done per year, need 1 year to teach how to do just one bag, and you steel thinking that everyone should be able to buy it, even workers will never be able to buy one 😂 it doesn't mean that we are getting mad of it, we are happy to work with amazing craftman ship technics, and of course they selec like everything in life, come back to reality, hermes will not do more bags because it s already complicated to deal with the quantity we do right now, just spend more than two minutes to think about when does it become normal to buy what you when you want for a low price, seriously if its a problem in your problem in life, its a nice one... and also if you ask a mesure per of shoes, because my work before, it can take years to just have an appointement even for a no name craftman ... and this is absolutely normal and i never heard someone complaining about it...

    But here's the thing, I believe as a business, you reserve the right on how you conduct business. And customers have the right to not shop from a business. It's a free trade. Don't buy from Hermes. It's simple. I don't believe they are obligated to do business pleasing the public. Just don't purchase. I have seen people buy quota bags and not have to pre-spend. Dayle's addiction is a channel who stated this. It's simple to prove that an employee lied vs the store policy is blah blah blah... and yes, there's SAs that can be corrupted, or simply not keep track of who the clients are and what they have already spent. Also, yes, there's very rude people. But again, we as customers don't have to have their bags. Mille bags makes great dupes 😂

    • @EricasGirlyWorld
      @EricasGirlyWorld  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I think this is a very elitist ass kissing stance. No business forces customers to buy the items but they should all be required to conduct business with integrity. I think I need to make a video response to this. Too long to type

    • @qwertyyxoxo
      @qwertyyxoxo 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The main issue is that hermes needs to conduct its business LEGALLY and follow US laws. No business can be above the law. Tying sales of goods to each other is ILLEGAL, doesn't matter what hermes wants to do or what you think hermes should do

    • @ananasvostel
      @ananasvostel 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If several SAs are "lying", their actions can be imputed on their employer, even if it is not the official policy of the store. This happens all the time in litigation. Companies get imputed with the actions of their employees, even when the employee has done something inconsistent with company policy where it can be shown that the employer knew or should have known of the employees' actions. Here it is possible to show that Hermes should have known their SAs are out there telling people to prespend in order to get a bag because there is a ton of info on social media about this. I still don't think this lawsuit will progress far on a class basis- but it will probably settle confidentially out of court on an individual basis. unfortunately, there will probably be more lawsuits down the road...
