Kelvin Damrell, who is native of Berea, Kentucky, and grew up in a family of bluegrass Gospel singers, has been named as the replacement in a spot previously held by some very big names, including Chris Stapleton and Gary Nichols as the Lead Vocalist of The SteelDrivers 🔥
What a fantastic band. We were so lucky to see them here in VT, couple of years ago. I'm so hoping we'll be able to see them again some day. @24:03 "Two! Three! Four!" Keep it up man!!!
I'll be seeing them later this month in Wilmington, Ohio. So looking forward to it. I only found this band a couple months ago, and I think they're wonderful.
@@taylorlinebaugh3991 but the opposite of that is what makes it so good. Bluegrass would be terrific if it weren't for the (subjectively) annoying vocals that plague the genre because its "the thing to do". The steeldrivers tick a box for a lot of people because they are in between genres.
got chills when the whole band came in after the intro on blue side. love the new record by all means! i get nostalgia when i hear any of the chris material.
love the steeldrivers! they over come losing a voice like stapleton but i tell ya. I think their music has gained a lot overcoming that obstacle if you put it that way
What vocals!!! When they played Blue side of the mountain, if you closed your eyes you wouldn’t be able to tell they have a different lead vocalist!!! Love this band so much!!!
last time i saw kelvin i told him the new album was fire lol. and yes kelvin has always sounded like this. how do ik may you ask. well he lives in my town. my parents was friends w his grandparents and i went to church w him since i was little. we are all proud of our hometown boy he is very humble glad to see others enjoying the singing
@@Joshuah24 You should be. Fantastic lead. I'd argue that technically speaking he's an even better singer than Chris quite frankly but Tammy is such an integral part of the Steeldriver sound too. Just a great little band that continues to persevere. Nothing but respect and love for these guys
@@bigmac51290 I have seen that video a few times myself. That's a great rendition. He lets his talent fly when he is playing solo. He's so humble he seems to restrain himself sometimes when playing with others. Verlon talks about how that song came to be written in another video you may have seen on here "Verlon Thompson and Jorma Kaukonen The Guitar". Fur Peace Ranch was where I would have seen him last year before cancellation. Now I will have to reminisce and play some Guy Clark videos later today ;-)

Honestly I understand what you mean by the annoying vocals but there are so many great voices in bluegrass without that. Tony Rice for example.
