The bigger the group, the higher the odds of an unseen delay. I didn't realize that there were other Iron Butt rides. The only one I'd heard of was the Iron Butt "Four Corners" ... the four corners for the US in 21 days. It was offered in the association that I rode with ... SCMA.
Watching with the wife on TV and realizing I put comments on second video in my iPad.. Loved this and the sunset at the beginning was really cool and great to take a trip with buddies regardless. Starting the next video because we need to see if you ran out of gas....wife is like did he make it did he make it 😂. Safe travels
I'm going for GOLD this summer! We did saddle sore 1,000 last summer, and getting receipts was the bane of the ride! I'm looking forward to part 2. You left me in suspense. 😂😂😂
Awesome editing. I see what you mean about mixing it up, adding some music, and keeping people interested. I love the cliffhanger too!! I'll be on to episode 2 shortly
Good job on this video! I like the way you narrated the audio; so much better than talking thru the mic, not to much easier. Anyway, nice work! I rode a BBG in 2013, and numerous SS1000 rides over the past 20 years. As far as the BBG goes, NEVER again, LOL. 1570 miles in the wide open southwest in 23 hours and 30 minutes. Enough for me, LOL. Ride far, have fun!
@@TwoIndians I don't know about another one....but a SS is coming up as soon as the weather gets a bit more welcoming. Loved the narration in both parts! How do you cope with the drivers in FLA? They are some of the worst!
I wish I had seen this before doing my own BBGold, I rode down from PA to Key West, then back up, and over to Naples to end at a friends house. I had to laugh because I too, had a scare that ended in running out of gas!!! I got off turnpike on 75 and said I need gas, passed the stop on the turnpike thinking I’d get it on 75, no knowing it would be 100 miles to the next station. I ran out 6 miles ftom that next station. The rangers came out within 5 minutes to give an a gallon of gas to make it to my final gas stop! (Awesome that I had actually travelled 260 plus miles on my 09 ultra that had only been getting around 200 miles) Other issues on this trip; interstate closed down between Daytona and Miami! Lost at least an hour, rush hour in Miami even with turnpike, cost me at least another hour, slow travel on bridges to hey west Cody me a couple hours of normal speeds, thus running out of gas cost me, and a poor choice to grab a Krystal burger quickly... I think they had to kill the cow, process the meat, ship it, transport it, and finally cook it to give to me! Big delay! I made time for silver but not gold! Live and learn! Now I know, no gas between miami and Naples!
Yes Praveen, I recall you saying that before that’s so awesome! Is that the one where the colors are flipped gray over burgundy? Anyway, sounds like you’re getting some miles on her! Love it!!
ride with two indians that’s awesome congrats uncle Brian it look like a great time I can’t wait til our four all get grown so we can do stuff like that lol
Thank you for the kind words! I might suggest a Spring or Fall ride for you as the summers here are brutal in regards to heat, not to mention the hazards of afternoon thunderstorms. Thanks again! I’ll see you on the roads!
Wasnt sure if it was this video but there was one where you said you wear earbuds because you had bad tinnitus. I have bad also and was wondering what you recommended for ear protection
Almost every long distance ride is a learning experience. From realizing you should carry extra gas (and/or siphon hose if your mates have full tanks), to over or under packing. Great video seeking out part 2 now!
You know the funny thing is I have an extra fuel bottle and I forgot to put it on the bike. I was going to mention it in the narrative but realized it didn’t matter in the end.
@@TwoIndians I gotta say... THAT is a daunting task with the GPS predicting 26 hours not including gas stops! I have my own route planned and am nervous with a 23.5 hour GPS estimate! Youse guys got the steel cajones!!!
I did a SS-1000 last week and it ended up taking me 23 hours of riding and I was up for 28 hours... Out of 10 gas stops, nearly all of them required me to go into the gas station to get the receipt... Either the paper was out at the pump or the credit card company was doing something because I was outside of my normal area... By the end of the ride, I was extremely tired and frozen... My hands were numb (should have had insulated gloves instead of just plain leather gloves)... Last time I did a long ride like this was 40 years ago when I was in the military getting transferred between bases... I guess I wanted to prove to myself that I'm not dead yet... I'm not so sure I proved that though... :( Not being sure of the *absolute* range on my Harley before the engine stopped, I strapped a 5g can of gas on the luggage rack (only put 4g in it though)... Ended up using it on the first leg because I wanted to see exactly how far the bike would go after the low fuel light came on... Turned out to be 20 miles...
Thanks for the story. Im still trying to figure out how it took you so long to finish??? Were you taking extended breaks to warm up? I mean that ride is 18 hours tops, and you barely made it. You averaged just over 45 mph on the trip so you must’ve stopped somewhere for long periods. Let me know, I’m curious.
De Ba I normally have a reserve tank with me but I forgot to put it on the bike. I figured, nah, I won’t need it. Had nothing to do with unknown roads. I’ve been on all these roads.
In an ideal world, yes. Never seems doable every time though. Seems to always be something that comes up. Of course if you’re by yourself that gets easier
Oh, now I remember what you are referencing in your comment. I use that example strictly as an easy to compute number for people who are not familiar with long distance riding. It’s easy to compute 10 minutes per stop but yes you try to shoot for less no doubt
@@TwoIndians you're wrong. I 've just accomplished BB 2500 on 24h:20minutes. I only had time to not even piss. But i was limited by road speed limit and 6 hours of rain.
@@The.KnightTemplar wrong about what? I don’t understand. We completed it. Hell I’ve seen some people do it in under 22 hours and to be honest we probably could have done it in 22.5 if we didn’t a few around so much at each stop.
My bike has a 6-6 gallon tank .gets 42mpg at 75 mph ..so can safely go 220 miles and need to start looking for gas in case the spacing of stations are wrong I dont want to push it to 260 ...but what cant last that long ??? My bladder nor my pain level for my ass :)
Yet another example of would be "bikers" who are too cool to wear full face helmets, which are not only safer, but are also quieter and less fatiguing than quarter, half, or three quarter helmets. From all the other issues, I thought I was watching Wild Hogs II. Simply amateur night.
If you are indeed a motorcycle cop you have my greatest respect for that pursuit. However your endeavors as an internet safety warrior expose a personality trait that reeks of condescension and arrogance with no background to substantiate you’re assertions about my motivations. Biker wannabe? Too cool? Listen up Mr Safety Patrol guard, last I checked we lived in America so I can wear whatever I want, and since I live in FL, I can wear no helmet at all! Not that it’s any business of yours but I don’t wear a FF because I’ve yet to find one that doesn’t hurt my neck. And since I’ve grown tired of throwing away hundreds (thousands really) of dollars on FF helmets that are uncomfortable, don’t provide enough ventilation, whistle when open/closed, fog up etc, I’ve settled on a 3/4. Is it the safest thing I could possibly do? No. Is it better than no helmet or a 1/2 helmet? Probably. Bottom line is you have no effing clue about what I do nor should you even freaking care, watch the video, enjoy the story telling and move on. It’s entertainment, that’s all. For crying out loud, get a life. Freaking Wild Hogs. Just because I ride a motorcycle I’m trying to be a biker? You’re an idiot.
Great video! Really put together well. Your video’s convinced me to go get an Indian, I pick up a new to me 2015 vintage this Saturday!
