The primary machines I own and use, an Old Juki 562 and a Consew 206-RB4. I also have a Consew double needle that I haven't set up yet. My primary background is office seating, but when Covid hit, I branched off into marine and automotive upholstery. • @chiefwraps7711

    You should have put holes in the wood backing to allow water to escape. The wood needs to be water proofed again. The foam should have been replaced and the new foam should overhang the edges about 1/2" and wrapped in Cushion Wrap Silk Film to protect it from water. I hope that is Marine grade vinyl and NOT Automotive vinyl (Not the same).

    • @oldschoolautoupholstery
      @oldschoolautoupholstery  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi! Thank you for the excellent advice! Also what needs to be factored in is how much the customer wants to spend. Because I would never do all of that for free. This video is about making a new cover. I did use marine vinyl, even though marine vinyl fails just like regular vinyl. The funny thing is if marine vinyl never failed, I would never be doing boat upholstery. I'm sorry, just my 43 years of experience speaking.

      Hello Dover, Like I always say, it is not rocket science. Just choose a material for your application, and. I use contact adhesive for anything I need to glue. Not too complicated right? Please keep liking and watching!

      @@oldschoolautoupholstery cool ! Not rocket science when you know. 4 way stretch vinyl ? Closed cell polyethylene foam ? (non absorbent ) M77 vs M88 ? Thread choice ? Recommended needle size? There are many questions for a Newby like me (that might seem obvious to the expert) ... Thanks for responding and keep up the great work 👍 ... 🇬🇧

      @@doverivermedia3937 Hello Dover, You are so welcome! 4-way stretch vinyl? Very rarely used... Closed cell foam? very rarely used... I have only used T-92 bonded nylon or polyester thread for 44 years for everything. The needle I use for my Juki is 135x17 for everything. I never give much thought to any of this. This is why I always say it is not rocket science, really because it isn't. Just do it! Please keep liking and watching!
