  • Summertime is in full swing and the fishing is hot right now! I headed down to Galveston Texas with a couple friends to try and do some Wade fishing for flounder! It was an awesome morning on the water and I managed to hook into a nice fish for the catch and cook! Nothing better then fresh ceviche on the beach!

    Great video. After each trip, do you rinse off your reel? I know you did that day after dunking it. Been there, done that lol

      Yes, I always rinse the reel and guides on the rod! Not sure if rinsing even helps cause they still keep breaking on me! Lol

      You can go cheep on a flounder set up get a shimano reel 500 or 1000 for 30 bucks 8lb power pro line 10 lb mono as leader line and an Allstar 5ft or 6ft extra fast good for anything reds ,trout,flounder and excellent for wade fishing

      With careful use, any Rod can bring in a fish. Pick a Rod by first determining the weight of the lures you plan to cast with it; a common lure rating is 1/4-3/4 oz on a 7 ft Medium Heavy/Fast Rod.

      Where Im fishing doesn’t matter. I don’t make these videos to give people spots. I make them to entertain and with the hopes that people can learn different ways and techniques to help them catch more fish.

    I grew up in the great Republic of Texas, but I live in San Diego, CA now. We have Halibut out here, just a flounder that faces the other way basically. What is the legal size there? We have some really good luck with squid out here. Going spearfishing today for Halis. You should try it there man.

    • @BeforeOutdoors
      @BeforeOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spear fishing sounds dope! Our legal flounder size is 15 inches. A big one around here is really anything over 20 or 22 inches! I’ll have to try squid sometime and see how it goes! Thanks for watching

    Rip to that reel after dunking it. My slx dc has been inshore for about 5 months now and it’s really grindy and that’s without dunking it and cleaning it after every trip. Let us know if yours holds up after the dunk!

      I have been fishing with a abu garcia orra 2 for about 6 years and i have dunked it atleast 50 times and its still kicking. I rinse it here n there lol. Its still my favorite reel over all of my higher end shimanos. I just feel like i can mistreat it and not suffer the consequences haha.

      This is North of the Ferry Landing on Bolivar Peninsula. Any location with moving water, especially near points or a pass, that has SOME TYPE OF UNDERWATER STRUCTURE TO ATTRACK AND HOLD BAIT WILL ATTRACT PREDATOR FISH. Have you ever played Hide and Seek ? Areas that are near rock walls, a jetty, a rock groin along a beach, seagrass, oysters beds, rock piles, ledges, or bulkheads, are all likely places to hold bait fish. On any stretch of beach front, even the deeper channels with calmer water (between the sandbars where the surf breaks over) will often hold bait that the larger predator fish will hunt. It's not so much about SPOTS and it is about finding STRUCTURE that holds bait.

    Do you worry about Sharks

    • @nozrep
      @nozrep 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      nah you don’t gotta worry about those at the location they are at. if you feel the need to worry about stuff as it seems you might, getting cut on sharp rocks or slipping on the rocks at shore, and the possibility of stepping on a sting ray are much, much, much much much more valid worries to worry about at a near shore inshore location like this. besides, their hasn’t been a shark attack death in the Galveston in decades.

    • @BeforeOutdoors
      @BeforeOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don’t really worry about sharks but am definitely cautious of them. See them all the time when out Wade fishing, just try to keep my distance and keep my fish on a stringer FAR enough away from me
