She did all that work, getting Jesse to seduce her, then break up with her, then they throw eggs at her knowing she vegan, and then said she wasn’t ready to have a relationship with her bc she wanted a baby.😐
Absent parents do that. They're only in your life on their terms, but the second you express a need for them all of a sudden they can't handle it anymore.
@@lreneewell9154The thing is, Shelby was a surrogate. From jump she knew she wasn’t gonna keep Rachel, she wasn’t going to be a mom. But in the end Shelby couldn’t just pretend like when she saw Rachel she didn’t know who she was. And like she said, she did regret not keeping Rachel even though that was never the plan.
The way they look at each other they both want each other they both want to be in each other's lives but they both think that it's best they love each other from afar I can just see the hurt in Rachel's eyes all she wants is her mother and all her mother wants her daughter back.
I really love that Rachel look kind a surprise when Shelby said Gold Stars are her thing because it's her thing too. The way she looked at Shelby is really cute, like she just finally found out what's with Gold Stars.
I agree. I think she might've been a little better to the glee club because she wouldn't have been as starved for attention but she'd still have the same drive because shelby would've pushed her hard to follow her dreams. As awful as she was sometimes, I think a lot of glee fans forget that part of it was because she didn't have an older more constant woman in her life (aka a mother) if she'd had that a lot of her brokenness wouldn't have existed but then again she wouldn't have been the Rachel berry we all knew and mostly loved. Guess we'll never know. Maybe that's for the best.
I don't think so. Say whatever else you will about her parents, but they definitely loved Rachel and coddled her. They went all hands on deck to help their little girl achieve her Broadway dream, which was a huge sacrifice for them money and time wise. Shelby would just have made her attention seeking instincts worse, since Shelby wasn't interested in being a mother when Rachel was a kid. Rachel's attention seeking came more from the fact that she didn't have age-mates to relate to, but the adult figures in her life were rock solid (hence why she has no problems in relating to Shuester or in building a student/teacher relationship with him but struggles with her classmates). With Shelby around, Rachel would be desperate for female adults to pay attention to her (since Shelby was the only parental unit who didn't pay attention to her) on top of the above
@@irondragonmaiden No, Shelby was interested in being mother, that's why she told Rachel she regretted after giving her up, and then stop, and then regret it a lot until today. Pal, emotions are not something you have control over, you're living in a illusion if you think that. Some emotions comes and goes without you knowing it. The talk between Schuester and Shelby in this episode said the same. Rachel is like Shelby talent wise, but mentally she doesn't have Shelby maturity and stability. That's something a mother can teach her daughter. Her gay dads can be supportive, but supportive is not the same as being matured and a role model. Rachel only role model in life is her Gay dads who live inside their own bubble, wealthy guys who live isolated from the community. Those guys are so detached from real life people that they went on a tour with Cher, seemingly they don't have a job or financial problems of any kind, therefore they don't need anybody and they can be themselves. Shelby is an average everyday person who has to deal with the hard stuff of life, compromise with other people when she needs to, that is what is lacking in Rachel's life. Just because you're over 18 doesn't mean you have matured, you need to go through loss and sacrifices to be matured.
2:03 - Rachel actually does start to cry, but as soon as she feels Shelby pull away from the hug she suppresses it... God, I can't even imagine how much pain she must be in.
This scene makes me angry. As someone who was adopted and didn't find their birth mother until they were 14, I can tell you she will most definitely regret saying goodbye to her daughter again. Why? Because it's not gonna be what she expected? That sucks.
Lea Michele was 8 years old when Friends first aired. Either Lea did a good job of acting younger, or Rachel's two dads waited a looooong time to name her. :)
I'm not even that huge of a glee fan, but watching this scene and then knowing they're about to sing the most perfect duet rendition of Poker face honestly makes it so much sadder.
My dad was an abusive alcoholic who chose the drink over his own daughter and beat my mother and my siblings, made my mom feel worthless like she HAD to stay because no one would love her better (not that I think he did but she was young and being manipulated). What’s worse? His mother said “she’s gonna die anyway so why bother?” -I was born with disabilities and deformities and wasn’t given much hope(I’m 30 now, btw) You are not alone but I’ll be honest knowing that, doesn’t necessarily take away the hurt. One thing that helps is knowing even when everyone leaves, God is there, and despite what circumstances may make us think. He DOES love us- immensely.
The only thing i didn’t like about Shelby is that she came back to have a relationship with Rachel but she ended up hurting her… Same thing as Quinn, she came back to help her to have a relationship with Beth, but it ended up hurting Quinn too.
I love how Shelby really looks like she could be Rachels mom

for real in real life

Greatest casting choice ever!!!!
It's never to late to be a mom to Rachael

I loved that part as well.
They should have done more with Shelby and Rachel.
Rachel would've had a different personality if her Mother was around

In any case, all things happen for a reason. Not to mention her character development wouldn't have had the same effect.
I don't think so.

Its a fictional tv show. Get over it.
I love how Rachel is named after a Friends character!
I love how they acknowledged that Brad the piano guy is always there😂
Shelby: “I really wanted this to work”
Me: lol u tried for like 5 min tho
Rachel- before you go can you sing with me
Shelby- I'll will be honor
Rachel - BRAD
Shelby 🤨
Rachel - he always close by

she's 15 on the show in season 1 and wikipedia says that she was born in 1994 which is the same year that friends came out
jessie biem she is not 15 bloody hell
Hannah Jeffrey im talking about rachel being 15 since she's was sophomore in high school in season 1
jessie biem ik you were. She never looked it though haha. I'm 15

Rachel Berry was named after Rachel Green 😮
Idina is the most amazing actress of this generation. ❤
Is every rachel born in that era named after rachel from friends 😂😂 im the exact same and so is my friend rachel 😂
They did a really good job in casting Idina Menzel as Rachel's mum

I love this scene so much!!
this is actually one of my favorite scenes in the whole show
Rachel you have got a great singing voice and you are a talented singer beautiful voice make me feel like a rose you make me special and I love that
They look like real mother and daughter! Even in real life !!!!! They cast Rachel mom perfect!!!!
So we just look over the fact that Brad was chillin in the shadows watching Rachel go over music lists hahaha
I wish I could meet my parents again like that.
And not one like Quinn who gives you up and then doesn’t want you until you’re loved. Not that mine did want me even after that.

Shelby I felt wasn't a supportive mom as she should have been. Rachel hasn't had a mother experience that's why she's sad.
It's funny how Rachel mom is idina menzel who plays Elsa in frozen
Glee Shelby says Goodbye to Rachel and Rachel asks shrlby to song soo Good
Shelby is so cruel! "Grateful for another" For what!!!? Shelby adopting Beth, but not taking care of Rachel smhh

I don’t know how I feel about Rachel, but she was 15 here, they surely could’ve had meaningful moments, but yeah.
Oh his name is Brad
fuck, this made me cry a lot. i feel so sorry for Rachel
she’s basically a female damon salvatore
This version of Poker face was sampled in Kid Cudis song I made her say.
Ironically Rachel greens first husband she ran out of the wedding on his name is Barry hahaha
I feel that Shelby doesn't understand anything About the life , And later she talks bad About Queen, I think she wath her in the mirror
Rachel's a Jewish name.. They probably named her after one of Jacob's wife given the fact that her family are Orthodox Jews 🤷🏻♀️
They name her after Rachel Green on friends.. not the bible
